Episode 1
The Du and the Li are two powerful families in Yangzhou Province. But to gain more influence, the families married off their daughters to those who can enhance their fortune better.
To facilitate a marriage, they had to hire a matchmaker.
The daughter from the Li Family of martial artists was Li Yuha. She was told that she had to marry General Yuan Bu Qu. Li Yuha was so against the idea because she had heard that General Yuan had been widowed twice. But her parents begged her so piteously that in the end she agreed.
Meanwhile, the beautiful blue stocking Du Bing Yan was being told that she had to marry the son of Qi Family. Qi Tian Lei is the third son but like his two elder brothers, he will not likely to live pass his 25th years. Du Bing Yan was assured that as soon as the wheelchair bound Qi Tian Lei dies, she will be allowed to go back home. Her parents knelt before her and begged, she agreed to the marriage as she cannot let them demean themselves.
Anyway, for some reason both Li Yuha and Du Bing Yan are to be married at the same day, leave on their sedan chairs at the same time, they even wore the same design of wedding dress. The only difference was their wedding veils.
They were both to wear a dragon veil but Yuha shredded her veil in a temper. So it was immediately replaced by a pair of mandarin ducks motifs veil.
While on a march to their respective wedding venue, it started to rain so hard so the brides took refuge to the same temple.
Yuha removed her veil and encouraged Bingyan to do the same. They started talking about the non-rights of women to chose; how unfair it was. They got on so well they agreed to be sworn sisters.
Anyway, the rain finally stopped and the two brides were fetched by their respective matchmakers who quickly shrouded them in their veils again.
To cut a long story short, Yuha ended up in ‘Bingyan’s sedan and later married to Qi Tian Lei who fainted as soon as the ceremony was coming to an end.
Episode 2
Qi Tian Lei told Yuha that he was not Qi Tian Lei but she did not take him seriously instead she thought that she was not the real Du Bingyan anyway.
They were getting along well and Qi Tian Lei was a very accommodating and caring. He even ensured that there were specks of blood on the marital bed to pretend that the wedding night was consummated.
This passed through unobserved by the clueless Yuha.
Qi Tian Lei noticed that Yuha was far from being a noble lady, instead she seemed good a martial arts as proven when she trip passing a cup of tea to the grandma as part of the night after the wedding ceremony. Everyone was aghast watching the cup flying on air but Yuha confidently catches it.
Meanwhile, the real Du Bingyan was finally awake after two days of solid sleep after being drugged by Madam Zhang, the matchmaker who conveniently left the Yuan Mansion while Bingyan was still sleeping.
Bingyan explained to Supervisor Li that she was not the real Li Yuha. They made a mistake sending her to the Yuan mansion. She further added that she was meant to marry someone else.
Supervisor Li dismissed her anecdote as bridal hysterics. He told her to rest up as General Yuan was at the border fighting.
