Episode 1
After having just watch the latest Indiana Jones, I was so invested in this drama. I must say it is well made and very atmospheric.
The first episode was so dramatic with Ye Liu Xi hanging by the next seeming dead. But when the cord was cut, she surprised her captor and overpowered him. She got a surprise when she opened the boot of the guy’s car. There was a woman who was bound and gagged.
She drove the woman to the town. She then went to look for Chang Dong. She ended up in a shop manned by an old man, who said that Chang Dong, his nephew disappeared two years ago.
Liu Xi smirked as if she knew something. She left the old guy an envelop.
When the old guy opened the envelop he saw a photo of of Kong Yang. His fiancee who disappeared with the other 18 people two years ago.
The old man run after Liu Xi but she was gone.
The guy, of course was Chang Dong, who had been trying to remain incognito as he had become a pariah after leading a digging expedition where the people got ‘buried’ in the sandstorm. People blamed him for what happened, for choosing a dangerous location to dig.
Anyway, this drama has another arc. There is a serial killer on the loose. He wears a skin mask who had been pouncing on unescorted women.
Prostitutes feared for their life so they hired Liu Xi as a driver.
Finally, Liu Xi and Chang Dong met up again. She told him that she need an escort to a rather perilous place in return, she told him that she will tell him where Kong Yang is.
Episode 2
Chang Dong agreed to join forces with Liu Xi. He said that they had to meet up at exactly 4:30am in the mountains.
Liu Xi was well in time but Chang Dong never showed.
She went to confront him.
Chang Dong said that he does not really need her to tell him where to search for Kong Yang. He cannot trust her because she had told him so many lies.
Liu Xi took him for a drive in the desert where the noose she was hanging from was still there. He told him about her nightmares of having witness some eerie thing but then she woke up in the noose.
Chang Dong was not sure whether to believe her on not but he did give her the benefit of the doubt when she told him that she did find some unusual objects in the desert and one was a camera. The film she had developed and among the pictures was the photo of Kong Yang.
So they will be a team of three as Fei Tang decided to tag along with them.
Fei Tang was Chang Dong friends who he asked to investigate Liu Xi. From the investigation, they found out the skin mask ‘serial killer’ was actually Liu Xi. She pretended to be the killer so the girls of the night would hire her as an escort, ergo, she can then make money.
Episode 3
The three intrepid explorers set out for Seabreeze Heaps. Near the desert, people recognised Chang Dong and he would have ended up a mincemeat Liu Xi did not intervene and fought off the men.
Liu Xi later explained to the men that Chang Dong never gave up on the missing 18. He was back looking for them again.
Episode 4
Liu Xi, Chang Dong and Fei Tang drove on to the desert, they did some tourist thing and went to visit the Yumen ruin, which was a village that was completely wrecked by sandstorm.
At their stop, they joined city people who were camping in the desert. Liu Xi overheard them talking about the incident two years ago. ‘They said that the leader was wrongly blamed.
Liu Xi immediately searched fro Chang Dong who drove to middle of the desert to have some time alone.
Liu Xi’s car broke down and she had to ask Chang Dong to tow her car. Chang Dong at first was having a mirage, mistaking Liu Xi as Kang Yang.
Liu Xi wanted to know why Chang Dong would confuse her with Kang Dong.
Chang Dong said that they had the same physique and he had always expect that Kang Dong would come back.
He then recounted that before he was rescued, between sleep he saw a group of people leaving dragging Kang Dong with them. He was not sure whether he was dreaming or not.
Later that night, while Liu Xi and Fei Tang and turned in for the night, Chang Dong continued carving his leader project. He suddenly had an attack. He felt excruciating pain in his chest and then he had some sort of memory where a woman had sewed something in his chest. Chang Dong would have died without Liu xi and Fei Tang.
The next morning the three packed up quickly as they spotted the marauding desert bandits.
This drama is special. The cinematography is fantastic. Nini is so gorgeous.
Episode 5
Chang Dong Li Xi and Fei Tong thought they were a goner as the bandits were well armed. But when the bandits saw Li Xi they changed into fanboys and couldn’t be more accommodating. They even knew her name because she was in a book which is valued by their leader.
Liu Xi was curious because she has amnesia. She can’t remember what happened to her before.
That night, the leader warned them that whatever they hear that night, they must ignore it, don’t look at it.
Liu Xi wanted to go for a wee and inadvertently woke Chang Dong who told her that he will go with her as a rule of camping. Before they could go out, they saw a bright puppetry of merchant caravan with camels. They had to ask each other if they were both seeing the apparition.
It then disappeared so they went to investigate but they could not find any evidence that it had happened.
In the morning, they asked the bandits about it but no one would really talk.
The three safely left the bandit camp. Chang Dong discouraged Fei Tong from going further with them. Chang Dong said that it was only going to get tricky
Episode 6
Poor Fei Tong suffered eerie experiences at the desert so he did as Chang Dong said and not to go on with them.
But then he turned back with the bandits with him.
He told them that the road shown on the map given to him by Chang Dong does not exist.
Chang Dong went to check and found that Fei Tong was telling the truth. The landscape seemed to have changed.
The bandits went out into the mountains. Fei Tong said that they dug up a coffin.
Episode 7
The coffin brought a lot of eerie trouble for the bandits. As they pulled the coffin from the cave, it immediately catapulted and struck two of the men dead.
