Episode 1
Wow! The drama is already intense and it is only episode one.
Anyway, Lin Yi was in the market when he saw a man clutching his chest. He told the man to go to the hospital as he seemed to be suffering from heart related condition.
The man, Mr Chen, would not listen. He kept telling Lin Yi that he was ok but he kept having little minor attacks so instead of getting an ambulance, Lin Yi took the man in a taxi and into the emergency department of the hospital.
It was a busy day that day. Anyway, Lin Yi left Mr Chen to the care of Dr Zhou Xiaofeng. Linyi warned the Dr Zhou that Mr Chen was rather skittish and should be watched.
Dr Zhou was in the middle of examining Mr Chen, who continuedly said that he was fine and does not need any test. He kept saying that he was ok.
Dr Zhou was called by an emergency case so he told Mr Chen to stay and wait and not to leave because he did recognise that Mr Chen was on point for a heart attack if not treated.
But as soon as Dr Zhou left, Mr Chen left as well. Dr Zhou asked later where Mr Chen had gone but no one knew.
Anyway, the next day was the doctors/surgeons meeting. Two announcements was made first was that Dr Zhou was awarded for his medical research. The next was that the young surgeon who performed a mitra, whatever, surgery was joining the cardiology team. The guy was of course Lin Yi.
His prowess with the scalpel had gone to his head that he was so arrogant and know it all kind of guy.
The sight of him, made Dr Zhou remember Mr Chen. He asked his junior to contact Mr Chen but the number given to them by Mr Chen was incorrect. So Dr Zhou asked Lin Yi if he knew Mr Chen’s number.
Lin Yi was surpised that Dr Zhou did not admit Mr Chen to the hospital but they both got more excited when Dr Zhou’s junior doctor said that Mr Chen had been brought into the hospital.
Dr Zhou and Lin Yi went to see Mr Chen who was being resuscitated. But it was too late. Mr Chen and Lin Yi put the blame solely to Dr Zhou.
He asked Dr Zhou if he was going to be able to sleep that night knowing that Mr Chen died because of him.
Really dramatic.
Episode 2
I am engrossed with this drama. Good acting.
Zhou Xiaofeng and Fang Xiao Ran are siblings. They share the same mother. The mother, Dr Fang, left Zhou Xiaofeng’s father when Xiaofeng was was a little boy. Though Dr Fang paid child support until Zhou Xiaofeng turned 18, they had next to nothing in terms of contact so Xioafeng felt alienated from his mother. So when he got to medical school where his mother was a doctor/professor, he turned down the money she tried to give him for school/living expenses.
However, when Xiao Ran found out about him, she stated idolising him and even transferred to the hospital that he worked in.
It was Xiaoran who save him from being vilified by the Wang Family.
Poor Xiaofeng lives a lonely life with just his pet lizard for company.🤣
Meanwhile, Linyi continued to be so arrogant. He was so impatient with his patients that one complained about his attitude.
Tea drinking Director Jiang gave him an unofficial warning.
Episode 3
Mr Zhang was taken to the hospital by his wife. Mr Zhang was in a bad way and Lin Yi recognised it and ordered an immediate heart surgery for him.
Mr Zhang’s wife and daughter was with him. The daughter mentioned that her father was in the hospital three days ago and saw Dr Zhou.
The mention of Dr Zhou made Lin Yi go over board. After operating on Mr Zhang, Lin Yi could not wait to report Dr Zhou.
So a meeting was convened because the daughter complained of misdiagnosis from Dr Zhou which almost cost her father his life.
Lin Yi was crowing at the meeting and called Dr Zhou an incompetent doctor.
Dr Zhou had had enough and instructed his assistant to email the x/ray/MRI of Mr Zhang to the conference room. So against the x-ray prior to the surgery and three days beforehand when Dr Zhou saw Mr Zhang, there was a marked difference.
Lin Yi was forced to apologise because Dr Zhou was obviously in the clear but it was also Dr Zhou who later left a note that Dr Zhang should be monitored.
Once again, Lin Yi was invited to tea by Director Jiang. He warned Lin Yi that mouthing off against another doctor is commendable as long as he has a full proof evidence of malpractice.
Fang Xiaoran was always on Dr Zhou’s side and was worried that he was overworking all the time.
Episode 4
Lin Yi was a butcher surgeon. He was a genius but got himself and the medical staff who assisted him in an unlawful trouble.
He cut opened a woman to fix her heart without proper diagnosis.
Directors Cui and Jiang were livid.
Linyi was disciplined for it and the other medical staff with him which made Lin Yi feels guilty because he more or less forced them into assisting him.
Episode 5
Linyi was suspended from performing surgery so he was just doing rounds and sometimes helps out Dr Zhou.
He was rather impressed with Dr Zhou who through experience can do a diagnosis by just using a stetoscope.
Meanwhile, the girl that Linyi had operated on was having a rather heartbreaking family drama. When her young husband found out that Yuxi’s company would not pay towards her hospitalisation because the company include health benefits, Yuxi’s husband changed especially when he found out that in just a few days, Yuxi’s hospitalisation had cost more than 200K already. Then she developed lung infection. Dr Wang said that Yuxi need to be connected to a machine which will do her breathing for her but the husband said he can’t afford the 30-50K per day for the machine.
He then told Yuxi that they should transfer to a smaller hospital which then can afford.
Episode 6
Yuxi’s parent’s came to the rescue.
Meawhile, Director Cui called in Dr Zhou to congratulate him for being appointed as the team leader for the cardiology department. Director Cui mentioned that Dr Lin was real find because he is a genius but at the same time, he was so wild that Linyi could be not only a danger to himself but to his colleagues and the hospital and now as the team leader Dr Zhou had to manage and control Lin Yi. No pressure🤣🤣🤣
Wow! I am really loving this drama. It is full of drama🤣🤣🤣
A 70 year old patient was on a plain congee diet but his daughter smuggled persimmons which she had been warned before not to do.
Nurse Han caught her and started scolded the daughter who was no wall flower.
Dr Fang had to explain that persimmon has a high tannic acid which interferes with the digestion and as her father had just had a major op, his digestion is rather compromised.
Nurse Han, who was on the lippy side was the bed nurse of the old man and as she expected, she had to clean him up after he had an exploding diarrhoea right when she just about to have her dinner.
Nurse Han cleaned by the old man but was rather forceful not only physically but verbally as well. His daughter managed to record the whole thing and complained.
Dr Lin saw the video and blew his top on Nurse Han but Nurse Han screamed at him as well. The nurse can’t see what she did wrong. Their screaming match was so loud, the poor patients could hear them.
Dr Zhou came to intervene and apologised to the old man.
Episode 7
Though Nurse Han was eventually forgiven by the Zhang family, it was decided that she should be transferred to the surgery department.
Episode 8
There was a drink up celebration for Dr Zhou as the new Team Leader. Everyone attended except Dr Lin who spends most of his free time with his brothers.
Anyway, Xiaoran was given a lift of home by Dr Zhou and they had a rather drunken bonding. Xiaoran confessed how much she was so proud of having a brilliant and handsome brother.
He ended up escorting her own her apartment where he met his mother. It was a stilted meeting full of hurt and silent recrimination.
Dr Fang felt so guilty of leaving her son for her work so she told Xiaoran to not imposed to much on Xiaofeng anymore.
The president of Yan Hui Group checked in the hospital with his retinue.
Episode 9
Yuxi was finally allowed home. She went home with her parents under the regretful eyes of her husband.
Everyone was bending over backwards for the President of Yan Hui Group except Dr Lin who could not care less who the president is or how important he is. He said that he is just a patient just like any of the others.
A lawyer for the company that Xie Yuxi worked for had been bugging Dr Zhou for information why he was against operation of Xie Yuxi.
Episode 10
Lin Yi employed delaying tactics on the already panicky President Yan. Because of this President Yan walked out. Lin Yi’s reasoning was that President Yan’s condition is really not life threatening.
Anyway as President Yan is really an influential patient, Dr Bai convinced Dr Zhou that they should do the operation on President Yan.
Dr Zhou was not too sure but since Dr Bai was his mentor, he reluctantly agreed.
The operation started but Dr Bai and problems with the small aparatus which nicked an aortic artery that started bleeding. Dr Bai would not do anything immediately.
So Dr Zhou secretly called Xiaoran to get a machine from the operating room. Xiaoran quickly obeyed but found out that the machine was not needed. She then put two and two together that there was a hidden message in Dr Zhou’s request so she called Lin Yi.
Lin Yi ended up taking over from Dr Bai and Dr Zhou but the damage was done.
President Yan in a coma but when he woke up, Xiaoran noticed that he was not really passing urine so Linyi had a look at the Pres Yan’s kidney on the ultrasound.
Anyway, Director Cui and Director Jiang convened a meeting to discuss what happened. Dr Bai would not take responsibility to what happened and passed the buck to Linyi.
I love this drama.
Episode 11
Xiaoran is showing an intuitive talent for diagnosing ailments. Everyone wanted to open up President Yan again but Xiaoran said that perhaps a more conservative treatment would sufficed. Dr Zhou backed her up.
So Dr Zhou, Xiaoran and Linyi became the three musketeers looking after President Yan until his condition improved and it did.
Meanwhile, Linyi got a called from his old mentor that a new heart facility had opened specialising in heart transplant. His mentor had already put forward Lin Yi’s brother for the transplant. Linyi was gratified.
A father dragged his son to get examined at the hospital. The father said that their family has a history of heart condition and wanted his son examined. The son said that he was well but the father would have none of it. Dr Zhou and Dr Lin came upon them.
To pacify the father, Dr Zhou said that the son should have a heart MRI. The result showed normal. But he advised to have it check at least twice a year which reassured the father.
This made Dr Lin worry for himself. His father died of heart attack and now his brother had a severe heart condition.
Episode 12 – 13
Dongli hospital had a young patient who had a massive tumour on his heart, It is almost inoperable but there is no other way but to operate.
The guy was Song Xingyao. Apparently, his brother died after operated on a few years ago.
As it was Dr Lin, who is a genius surgeon, everything turned out well. He later acknowledged the help and support of his colleagues who turned up for the emergency surgery during a weekend.
Whoa! So just like UK, it is not also ideal in China to have your surgery during the weekend because of lack of manpower.🤣
Dr Lin is beginning to calm down.
Xiaoran realised how lonely Xiaofeng had been as an abandoned son. She adores him though and he started to appreciate her a lot.
