Episode 1
The first episode is quite interesting. It actually pulled me to watch another episode but I thought I shall type a quick summary of this first episode first.
Song Ci is an up and coming forensic scientist. He believes that the best evidence is the body itself because words can be doctored as a person can be tortured to confession but the body tell its own story.
Anyway, Song Ci lives with his long suffering 30-year-old sister, Song Qing.
Song Qing runs a wine shop but her income is not enough to pay all the debts collected by her young brother for his forensic research. So Song Qing decided to marry the son of the richest merchant in their town.
Song Ci, however, found out about it and made sure the suitor got the wrong idea that his sister is mentally unhinged and currently pregnant.
His aghast sister was so annoyed but Song Ci was unrepentant and told her not to settle for just anyone.
Song Ci was much though of by Li Daren, the town magistrate. He often consult Song Ci for murder cases. The latest was a man who borrowed Li Daren’s big ship to transport tea but was murdered by a female ghost wearing a red hanfu while sailing.
Song Ci was helped by his friend, Li Zi Fang, nephew of Li Daren, to solve the case.
