Episode 1
This first episode is really interesting. I love the monochrome coloration. It adds historical drama to the scenes.
Anyway the blurb said that during the third year of Tianqi, the soldiers and civilians of Liaodong cleared wastelands in order to build a fortress as a defense mechanism for the border town of Ningyuan.
This was well and good but for some reason an epidemic of typhood beseiged the soldiers. Rumours immediately spread that the plague is God’s Will because a fortress is an abomination.
Chu Si Jing, an imperial guard was sent to Ningyuan to investigate.
He was thorough in his investigation. He was given a guard to assist him. He was Bo Yan who was a chatty guy.
Anyway, Chu Si Jing was having some sort of premonition, which rather purturbed him as he not had one for two years. He was being told to go to Wumu Island.
During the course of his investigation, he found that some soldiers were not cooperative. He finding some strange going on like the food in the barracks. Despite being near the sea, they don’t seem to eat seafood but rely on wolf meat or some strange bog fishes.
Chu found some unusual lights coming from the mountain. He went to find out what was it and encountered men who said they were from Wumu Island and had an appointed with General Lei.
Before he could find out more, he spotted a girl who seemed to recognise him. She run away but as he gave chase, a soldier prevented him from approaching the girl.
Chu and Boyan decided to go to Wumu Island despite being discouraged by the Liaodong soldiers.
