Episode 1
Love the first episode. The cast is really good. It is a female centric drama with the amazing Sun Li as main lead.
Anyway, Hu Man Li is a 39 year-old top table insurance agent at Blue Ocean. She was so good and brings in the money that she gets away with murder. This has gone rather a bit on her head and become unpopular with her senior colleagues who would report her for not being a team player.
Director Jin Zhen Hua warned her that she was reported again. He told her that she had reached the pinnacle of success but she should ensure that her feet are firmly anchored on the ground.
Anyway, Hu Manli was being featured in a magazine and was being interviewed. She decided to bring the crew home so they could meet her husband who is a philosophy professor and getting rave reviews for his self-help books.
The interviewer accidentally dislodged a book where a post-card of Madam Pompadour fell out. Curiously, ManLi picked it up and saw the intimate writing at the back.
As soon as she was alone, she immediately started her investigation who her husband’s paramour was. She suspected that it was the young student which seemed to fascinate her husband.
So Man Li prepared for battle and went shopping for something stunning to attend her husband’s book review/signing.
At the shop, she met an affluent woman, Qiu Li Su, who had been married twice with both husband dying in no time.
Anyway, at the book club, her husband had just finished talking about Happiness. He said that seeking happiness is useless but instead be self fulfiling instead and happiness wil follow.
Hu Manli could not help but asked her husband a questiuon during the Q&A.
She asked him pointblank whether he was happy. He could not answer but she insisted to hear an answer. She produced the Madam Pompador postcard and read what was written on the back. Her husband went red under the collar, he walked out.
They ended up in the waiting room: her, her husband Ding Zhi Yuan and his young assistant, Wang Xue who was gobsmacked when confronted as being the young mistress of Ding Zhi Yuan.
Wang Xue begged Ding Zhi Yuan to explain the misunderstanding. But before he could say anything, Qiu Li Su turned up and admitted that she was the other woman.
Qiu Li Su asked Zhi Yuan and Wang Xue to leave as she speaks to Man Li.
Man Li could not believe how immoral Qi Li Su with her affair with a married man. Qi Li Su said that there was nothing immoral with her feelings with Zhi Yuan. They love each other and the one unloved is the mistress. She confessed her pillow talk with Zhi Yuan who had admitted that he had not had sex with Man Li for years.
Man Li said that it was a natural progression of a long time marriage/relationship. She had been with with Zhi Yuan since she was 20.
Anyway, Man Li left. Meanwhile, their conversation was overheard by Xue Xiao Zhou, who is the stepson of Qiu Li Su.
He was so disgusted with Qiu Li Su for playing the same trick once again, being a mistress. It was the same scenario with his father and mother. Qiu Li Su seduced his father and married the father and had the ex-wife and Xiao Zhou thrown out of the mansion.
As the father is dead without leaving a will, Qiu Li Su told Xiao Zhou that she was going to sell the mansion.
Xiao Zhou said, over his dead body.
It was a small world. Xiao Zhou was a law graduate who works at Blue Ocean as adjuster. He had been tasked to investigate every case that Manli had transacted.
