Episode 1
I really enjoyed the first episode. It draws you in as it promises some angsty moments as a payment to one’s dream. Or am I just overthinking?!!!🤣🤣
Anyway, Xia Guo and Yu Jian are a loving couple who promised each other to get married when Yu Jian turns thirty. Beforehand, tney agreed to work their socks off so they could have a comfortable married life.
This in mind, Xia Guo longed to work in the big city where the money was. It so happened there was an opportunity for this to happen. The head office was recruiting someone to work in Shanghai.
Xia Guo decided to work in Shanghai because of two things. She can’t bear her mysoginist, lazy boss, Wang Chang An anymore and second, she wanted to have an extra-ordinary life wearing high heels to work just like Chen Nan, who came to inspect the Leshan branch from Shanghai.
Yu Jian encouraged her to go for the rigorous exam; he then secretly applied for a job himself to Shanghai.
He got the job but Xia Guo failed the exam. Xia Guo encouraged Yu Jian to take the job but he said he would rather stay in Leshan and be with her. Xia Guo was really desperate so she approached Chen Nan who did noticed that Xia Guo is a rough diamond waiting to be polished.
Chen Nan said she will take Xia Guo to Shanghai.
Xia Guo and Yu Jian were celebrating their good fortune but then Yu Jian got a call from his mother informing him that his father was in the hospital for a really nasty fracture. Being filial, the move to Shanghai is off balanced again.
Episode 2
This drama as the title says is the enactment of the two choices Xia Guo was facing. Either stay at Leshan or go to Shanghai.
Leshan: In one scenario, she did stay in Leshan and ended up marrying the lovely Yu Jian. Four years later, they had a baby but her domestic life was far from rosy. Even Zhang Xiao Qin moaned that Yu Jian was treating their house like a hotel as he was hardly home. He was forever working.
One day, Guo followed him and saw him meeting a woman and going to a hotel.

Episode 5
Leshan: Xia Guo worked like a slave at Yu Jian’s family. But then it was the Chinese New Year and the prodigal daughter, Yu Yan was coming home for the festival.
Zhang Xiao Qin strongly hinted that Xia Guo should leave so that the immediate family could bond with Yu Yan.
Xia Guo was a little upset but she accepted it.
Yu Yan brought home her American boyfriend, Andrew, who declined to enter the house and just to wait for Yu Yan so they could go to Chengdu.
Yu Jian was so annoyed at how inconsiderate Andrew was. Even Yu Yan was beginning to rethink her marriage to Andrew.
Anyway, Guo did go back to find her mother who was celebrating New Year with her new husband and his family. Guo was welcomed but she noticed that her mother had so much to put up with her overbearing husband. She was beginning to pity how her mother had been living with her husband.
Yu Jian found her and took her home. Zhang Xiao Qin did feel the guilt of chasing Guo away when she realised that she was nicer to her that her two children.
Shanghai: Red packets were being given to everyone but then it turned rather grim for Xia Guo. She was caught between the power struggle between Chen Nan and Xue Yu Ming.
Lucy told her that Chen Nan did not appreciate that Xia Guo accepted a red packet from Xue Yu Ming. In Chen Nan’s view this showed disloyalty. So she hired a new PA and gave her the tasks she originally given to Xia Guo, who she confined to warehouse duties.
Chen Nan started humiliated Xia Guo as well as threw her out of a meeting.
Xia Guo who had an offer from Xue Yu Ming to become his PA asked him for the job but he was non-commital and told her that he would think about it.

Episode 9
Shanghai: Yu Jian was on his way to Shanghai to see Xia Guo for her birthday. But he got a call at the last minute from the police. His mother had fainted after being interrogated for fraud. It so happened he met Wen Ya who was also flying to Shanghai.
Wen Ya offered to bring the cake to Xia Guo.
Xia Guo was unhappy about receiving the cake from Wen Ya, who seemed ultra famiiar with Yu Jian.
Wen Ya told her that Yu Jian adored Xia Guo but she was treating indifferently. In her opinion, Xia Guo should not have gone to Shanghai without Yu Jian. Xia Guo went ballistic and told Wen Ya to mind her own business.
Meanwhile, she was really upset that Yu Jian did not turn up for her birthday so she went to the bar where she drunkenly celebrated her birthday. Xue Yu MIng came to take her back to her apartment. He told her that he has three advice for her. First is to think what she really wanted, a relationship of something else, this was apparently of paramount importance.
The next day, Xia Guo indulged in a bit of shopping theraphy. When she got home, Yu Jian was waiting for her. Unfortunately their reunion was not a happy relaxing one as Xia Guo was called by Xue Yu Ming to amend a proposal. So she spent most of the time in front of her laptop.
Yu Jian broached the subject of her moving back to Leshan. Xia Guo was aghast. This escalated to a disastrous argument where Yu Jian accused Xia Guo of being selfish who had not even asked how his mother was. He told he will leave her to her money obssessed way and left. She told him to go but immediately changed her mind and run after him but then Xue Yu Ming was there again. He seemed to be stalking her. He grabbed her by the arm and told her that running after Yu Jian was a big mistake. He observed that she was no longer happy with Yu Jian. So his second advice to her was to initiate a break up. He said that the one who breaks up first will recover quicker.
Xia Guo went back to Leshan to see Yu Jian. Lo and behold, she found him with Wen Ya. When they saw her, instead of moving away from Wen Ya, Yu Jian reached for Wen Ya’s hand and intimately clasped their hands together.
Wen Ya left. Yu Jian said that there is no longer a need for an explanation regarding Wen Ya. He asked to break up.
Xia Guo was gutted and flew back to Shanghai. Xue Yuming was waiting for her by her apartment. He then told her his third advice: To get over a breakup quicker, get into another relationship. He then kissed her.
Episode 10
Leshan: The same storyline. Zhang Xiao Xing was involved in scam investment transactions. Yu Jian was worried and depressed about it.
Xia Guo found that she was pregnant amidst the chaos. When she told Yu Jian about her pregnancy, he was surprisingly elated about the baby but Xia Guo told him that she was not keeping the baby.
Yu Jian tried to persuade her to change her mind. He told her that they will get by somehow.
Xia Guo said that was the problem, they can’t bring a baby into the world hoping to just get by. There were so many uncertainty.
Yu Jian just left the decision to Xia Guo. She went to the hospital alone.
Zhang Xiao Xing saw the text and was really annoyed with Yu Jian for not getting Xia Guo. She told her son that Xia Guo discussed her pregnancy with him because a little bit of her wanted to be persuaded to keep the baby.
Yu Jian raced to the hospital. He found Xia Guo just putting her coat. He hugged her told her that he will never leave her and will give her a good life. He then hugged her so tightly that Xia Guo complained that he was squeezing the baby too much.
Yu Jian was joyful. They are still pregnant.
Shanghai: Poor Xia Guo, she got home to a flooded apartment. Her landlord was a descent man and told her that she can’t stay in the apartment in its current condition so he told her that he will refund her three months rent while she find a much more suitable place.
She packed her bag and went to Crossroad, the bar when she had been friendly with the young barman, Ai Lun,.
Xue Yu Ming kept calling her and found out that she was homeless. He brought her to his home. The lonely Xia Guo ended up sleeping with her boss. She made the first move.

Episode 16
Leshan: Xia Guo and her new baby are living separately from Yu Jian. She can’t just forgive easily that during a life and death for her and her baby, Yu Jian completely forgot about them. She struggled to sign the consent form for the doctors to operate on her.
Xia Guo and Yu Jian reconciled but not long after the joy of fatherhood and family life wear thin. He began confiding of his troubles to Wen Ya.
Shanghai:
Xia Guo and Xue Yu Ming were in a jewelry shop. Xia Guo looked longingly at a solitaire engagement ring which was noticed by Yu Ming but chose to ignore.
Episode 17
Leshan:
Yu Jian came home with a gift for Xia Guo. She appreciated it and they made up once again.
Xia Guo went back to work and Yu Jian who sometimes would work from home sees different housekeeper who comes to the house.
Yu Jian was now trouble at work because he was too exhausted and made huge mistakes.

Xia Guo followed Yu Jian and Wen Ya and saw them going to a hotel. Xia Guo was found crying by Yu Yan who was upset about what his brother was up to.
But then, later on Yu Jian took Xia Guo out. Xia Guo was shocked when they ended at the same hotel Yu Jian took Wen Ya. But Xia Guo did not say anything as Yu Jian ushered her into the hotel garden which has been decorated to hold a wedding.
Yes, Yu Jian was being helped by Wen Ya to create a magical wedding for Xia Guo. Yu Jian had always promised Xia Guo that he will give her a grand wedding. Their families and friends were at the wedding. So it was a happy ending for Xia Guo and Yu Jian. =n- bvShanghai
