One of Peter’s passions in life is to one day, keep an aquarium full of jellyfish. He found them absolutely fascinating.

James & Stacey know of this passion that they have given Peter a very life-like automated/mechanical aquarium one Christmas. It was beautiful and they glow in the dark. LOL

Real jellyfish is beautiful but can be lethal! I supposed an aquarium of jellyfish is better than one of piranhas, tarantulas, or snakes! yuck

Jellyfish are one of the most unusual and also most beautiful animals on this earth.

Did you know?

The box jellyfish is the most venomous animal in the world.  They have 60 tentacles and each one can kill tens of people.

Spiders Spinning Webs

It is a true wonder of nature how spiders can  weave superior and intricate webs!

Spiders are a particular source of phobia for Peter and yet he was happy taking photo after photos of these eight-legged insects.

Probably spiders are less mysterious and threatening when they are outside the remit of one’s abode, afterall a man’s house is his castle and he has a right to welcome or make unwelcome anyone entering his house, including the dreaded spiders!!!

Below are the photos Peter took over a period of a week.

Thank goodness, we do not presently have any spider inside the house, not that I know of.  Probably this is because I have put conkers in strategic places. Apparently conkers are anti-spiders. It is hard and frightening to imagine a spider freely moving in the bedroom while one is unconscious to the world.

I read somewhere that everyone swallows at least 60 insects, of which 7 are spiders, in their lifetime, while asleep! Can’t bear thinking about it.

As spring turns into summer in the UK, we have enjoyed the budding flowers and trees. Also the first visits to our gardens  of a family favourite, the robin red breast bird.

The European robins (Erithacus rubecula) are descended from Old World Fly catcher birds Muscicapidae.  

A robin  will select a particular garden to live, feed and sometimes nest.

They prefer a garden that has lots of bushes and plants  for them to hide and live in & also provides supplies of ready insects, worms, slugs and snails for their meals.

Robins are fiercely territorial and will sometimes fend off intruding birds to ‘their’ garden.

Every year, we enjoy seeing our cheeky little garden robin hopping about among our bushes and plants. They are also not aversed to having a bath on the running falls by our pond.

He/she is not scared or wary of us and follows us about when we are in our garden,  He or she would remain still watching me mow the lawn and he would happily dart down curiously to the freshly cut grass.

I photographed our robin last week, then yesterday while sitting in my mate Mick’s garden, we saw and I photographed his garden robin 🙂

During Christmas some of us would buy a puppy as a present for our little ones, partner, parent or friends.  It can be a good idea, especially at Christmas, when we want to spread love and see everyone happy and joyful.

70% of puppies’ major attraction is their cuteness, adorability and companionship but the 30% is something else.  You are actually have to look after your pet.  Feed them, take them for a walk, play with them train them and look after them.

They are not just toys that you can pick up and then put aside when it suits you.  They have needs which sometimes you have to put first before yours.

Puppies also chew and chew anything that they see on the floor.  It may be a book, a pillow, soft toys, the wall, the wallpaper, even furnitures, you name it, they will chew on it.

If you are not a dog lover, you may lose patience even before you take your puppy for his first visit to the vet, which again is costly.

Taking responsibility towards a pet is sometimes hard work, so much so that a few days after Christmas, many puppies/dogs are abandoned.

Many are given to dog homes.

Before buying or getting a pet, think very hard if you are apt to looking after a dog.  Because dogs are not just for Christmas, they can live for many, many, many years.

Above are photos of adorable soft toy puppies which have 100% cuteness.

Something that you can put aside, put in a drawer and forget about until you find them again.

HAPPY 2nd Birthday Diesel

 

 

Our Beloved Little Terrier who is a feisty member of the family is two years old today. We remember him as a little pup when we first had him. HAPPY 2nd Birthday Diesel

Like all dogs he has his ways. He dotes over our 5 year old grandson and jumps all over him when they visit, they are a mischievous pair 😉

Sometime he is naughty but cheers us up with his antics. He knows the time in the evening when we take him for his walk and if we are late he comes and sits in front of us while we are watching TV to remind us! Then he will run and pick his lead up and bring it to us 🙂

He is an accomplished escape artist having found a way through our garden fences to explore our neighbours gardens.
