Apparently, the theme is about a long time crush.

Ruan Yu and Teng Yi first met when Ruan was 25 and was just graduating from her masters degree.

Their shared loneliness and desire for stability pulled them together but alas their different backgrounds pulled them apart.

They met again but a wrong time. Though the feelings were still strong, Teng Yi was already  married while Ruan was preparing for marriage herself.

Ten years later, their paths crossed once again.  Ruan was finally happy with how her life was going.  Would she gamble her current way of life to be with Teng Yi?!!!

  • 10 August 2024🍉  🍉🍉  🍉 This is really at a melon stage. I seldom blog melon dramas but this one really got me excited.

Not because of the story as I am not sure what it will be about.  Apparently, this is an original script.  What really triggered my excitement is the potential pairing of Lu Si with Peng Guanying.

He is full of sex appeal.  He is hot.  He was last seen in Liu Yifei‘s The Tale of Rose.

By the way, I am loving that Lusi is being paired with men rather than boys.

Anyway, rumour has it that this is an urban drama and will be directed by Deng Ke under his own studio. This director specially went his way to see Lu Si while she was filming The Story of Pearl Girl.

If everything pans out, this drama will start shooting sometime in October 2024.🤞

  • 10 September 2024: Zhao Lusi and Peng Guanying were officially announced today as the leads to Almost Lovers.
  • 14 October 2024:  Absolute madness!!!🤗. There are already 100K reservations before this drama has even started filming!  So much excitement🤗
  • 16 October 2024: Filming is to commence on 23 October 2024.
  • 23 October 2024:  Filming has commenced today but the booting ceremony is scheduled fo 27 October 2024.  To date, there are already 110,000 reservations.  Location shoot is in Hangzhou.
  • 18 December 2024: Due to Zhao Lusi’s collapse, filming had been halted until further notice.
  • 4 March 2025: Rumours have been circulating that Lusi will resume filming this drama by mid-March.
  • 5 March 2025:  Just read a most fantastical rumour that part of Lusi’s unhappiness with the constant drastic changes in the script was allegedly due to the development of BL arc between the male and second lead.🤣🤣🤣 Beggar’s belief😭😭
  • 3 August 2025:  There are rumours that Almost Lover will be submitted for review with a much smaller number of episodes. From 24 to 14.
  • 13 November 2025: AL is tentatively scheduled to broadcast in March 2026.  Excited!
  • 27 December 2025: Rumours are abound that AL will drop tomorrow, 28 December.  Many are unhappy that AL will be broadcasted at all as it caused Lusi to be hospitalised while filming the drama.
