I love calamares. I love the taste. I have to admit that when we order them in restaurants, I would end up eating most of them. I am just so glad that the serving is for 4-6 calamares rings only. My family said that they love the taste but it was just too chewy! Fair enough I suppose. Anyhow, each to each own taste.

Calamares Recipe

Ingredients:

1 kg squid, cleaned and cut into rings

2 eggs, beaten

1 cup flour

3 tbsp water

1 medium onion, chopped finely

2 cloves garlic, finely minced

salt & pepper to taste

Oil for deep-frying

Method of preparation:

Season the squid rings with salt and pepper, set aside for the moment.

Using a large bowl, beat the eggs.  Add the flour and the water.  Mix throughly until it turn into a smooth batter.

Add the onions and garlic to the batter and stir to incorporate.

Heat the oil, preferably in a wok.

Dip the squid rings  into the batter and fry for 3-4 minutes or until the rings have turned golden.

Drain and serve with your favourite sauce, like sweet chilli sauce or mayonnaise.

Enjoy!
