Apparently, the focus of this drama will be the metamorphosis of a residents’ committee of Hu Tong from the point of view of women from three generations: 50s, 80s & 21st Century.
Lu Si will play Wenjing’s mother and Xiaotong’s grandma.
This drama will be in three segments, moving from one generation to the next.
It was announced at the Beijing TV Program Market and Exhibition that this drama is aimed at the end of the 2021 broadcast.

Chapter 1-14 is Grandma Tian Zao’s generation in the 1950s
Jujube & Iron Egg
Episode 1
The drama started in 1949.
The People Liberation Army was about to descend to Beiping but the warlords are still trying to make a last stand by putting spies everywhere and arming their stooges.
What they did not count on was a young girl, Tian Zao, with her merry young boys who are the eyes and ears of what was going on.
Tian Zao or Jujube looks after the orphans in Hu Tong. Despite their destitute life, the boys would work, beg, look for charcoal, and sometimes steal from the rich to survive. They are harmless enough that the neighbourhood looked after them as their own.
But Jujube’s one mission in life was to make the people who killed her father pay for what they did.
She was able to steal a gun and waited for the main perpetrator who was riding a rickshaw. She shot at him but missed each time until she was subdued by the man’s bodyguards.
They took her to the man’s house. She was beaten up and taken to the backyard to be buried alive.
But her boyfriend turned up to the rescue. His martial art is so good. Mysteriously, the mastermind, Han Qingkui ordered to cease and desist when someone whispered to him something. He let Iron Egg and his men to go with Jujube.
Jujube was going spare, she wanted Irong Egg to kill Han Qingkui. Instead, he bundled Jujube into his shoulder and took her home.
He then looked after her tenderly.
Jujubegg highlight: Jujube went to see Iron Egg in his Wrestling School. She challenged him to a match that he can’t refuse. So he fought with her and ended up throwing her rather strongly where she crashed on the slippery snow ground and ended up with bloody nose.
Episode 2
Iron Egg was actually jujube’s protegee in the wrestling world. And Jujube also learned to wrestle from her father.
Despite still not fully recovered from her bruises, Jujube insisted on going to watch the coming of the PLA. She was not alone, everyone was excited and welcoming.
The KMT of Chiang Kai Shek was slowly being obliterated by the PLA.
The PLA is now in charge of all sectors of policing.
Hang Cingkui and his men were arrested which made Jujube jubilant and went to tell the news to Iron Egg immediately.
The PLA were advised by the high-ups to normalise Beiping, open, and send children back to school.
The PLA also run a gun amnesty. People surrendered their weapons as the PLA did a house-to-house visit to get some sort of census.
The head of the PLA in the hutongs of Beiping was the sweethearts’ Lin Zheng and Li Hong Ying.
Iron Egg came to Jujube and her core family made up of Tong Xiao Ting, who is a Chinese Opera buff, Suo Qian who is in love with a prostitute who is the sister of Mei Hei, the foster brother of Jujube, Aunt Li and her daughter, Li Xiu Lan. Iron Egg told announced the news that Han Qingkui will be tried by the public.
Jujube was ecstatic with the news.
At the trial, Han Qingkui and his cohorts were sentenced to death. The presiding officer at that time was Li Hong Ying.
So at the first opportunity, Jujube with her band of merry boys went to see Li Hong Ying and extend their gratitude. Jujube told Li Hong Ying that she thought at first that PLA will just be like KMT, all talk, and no action but she was pleasantly surprised that the case of Han Qingkui was dealt with promptly.
Episode 3
Jujube wanted to become a street activist.

Jujube mentioned to Li Hong Ying her aspiration to become a street activist.
Li Hong Ying told her that she was too young probably in a couple of years. Li Hong Ying also quickly found out that Jujube was illiterate. She cannot read nor write, well she can actually write her name in rudimentary form.

Episode 6
Stressed from worry ended with Jujube ill in bed. She was so impressed with Li Hong Ying who took her to the hospital and stayed with her through the night until she was free from fever.
Meanwhile, Sun Tie had been fully recruited as a member of intelligence, People Service Bureau, under the leadership of Gao Zhi Yuan.
Their mission was to find the master assassin Luo Wenhui.
Sun Tie disguised himself as a pepper seller along a marketplace.
Unbeknownst to him, he was recognised by some people who he fought wrestling with.
Anyway, Sun Tie mad a breakthrough with his investigation. He found out where Luo Wenhui was hiding.
The PSB went to the hideout but Luo Wenhui was so wily.
Episode 7
Luo Wenhui managed to get away.
Meanwhile, Jujube’s eyes and ears heard from the wrestling guys that Iron Egg had downgraded to selling peppers in the market. They relayed the news to Jujube immediately.

Chapter 28 – 36 is Granddaughter Lin Yue’s generation in 2019.
It is a case of one-sided love. Xie Qiao enrolled at the same university as her long-time crush but only to find out that he will never be into her because he started dating one of her best friends instead.

I love the drama already at first episode. The nostalgia value is strong.
Anyway, it started in 2001, when Xie Qiao got to the university of her choice. It was the same school where her long time crush went so in essence, she followed him. He was He Xiao Zhou.
Xie Qiao has a best friend, Qin Chuan, who has a secret crush on her. In order to hide his unrequited love, he would teased her mercilessly which made him appear like just a best friend.
They are truly the best of friends. Xie Qiao tells him everything.
Qin Chuan was in Canada but since Xie Qiao made him promised to attend her graduation, he did everythig that is humanly possible to make it happened. It was eventful for him. He got mugged by one of his own friends, and then by an armed intruder but nothing would stop him from returning to Xie Qiao.
Xie Qiao and her new dormmates trended at their school. On the first day, Xie Qiao, Wang Ying, Xiao Qian Xi were persuaded by their adorable fourth dormmate, Xu Lin to share her mushroom stew.
The four new friends enjoyed the stew but then they began to fill strange and felt like they were in a boat in the middle of a rough sea. The capsize and got stranded in an island feeling very cold. They started to make a fire.
The other girls from the other rooms watched the the four almost burning their room. It turned out they accidentally ate magic mushroom. They were taken to the clinic feeling really embarassed as they became the talk of the school, The girls who tried to burn the dorm on the first day of school.
Anyway both Qin Chuan and Xiao Zhou turned up at the same time. The three were childhood friends and chatted like before.
