Episode 1
This is an unexpected gem of a drama. It is so cute.
Suzuki Osamu is a Koe boy. A voice-actor superstar. But lately, he had become rather jaded because he hardly does voice-over anymore as he was often doing promotional engagements for his succession of picture books, which were selling like hotcakes.
His fans can’t get enough of him. His smile had become rather popular. His followers often joke that his gleaming smile can make them pregnant.
Anyway, Osamu had told his management that he hoped his current picture book will be the last.
Osamu lives with his girlfriend who is the number one Koe girl. The girlfriend is a bit of a diva and there are times when Osamu is not sure whether the girlfriend likes him for who he is or what he is.
Anyway, his girlfriend suggested that they do a make-over to their flat as she was tired of it.
They went to a DIY store, where Miyuki happens to work as store staff.
Miyuki is a cute girl (maybe on the plain side but not ugly as the title would make us believe) but on the chubby side. She is also a bit of a clutch. One thing about Miyuki is that she is a cheerful girl with laughing eyes and beautiful manners.
Osamu and his girlfriend called for attention at the store.
Miyuki immediately went to see to the couple but she tripped on a basket and fell flat on the floor.
Osamu knelt down to help her and saw that she had a bleeding nose. He gave her his handkerchief which Miyuki refused but he was most insistent so she had to accept it.
This act of chivalry did not go well with his girlfriend. She was annoyed that he was rather cavalier with a present she gave him. The hanky he gave Miyuki was a gift from her to Osamu.
In a fit of pique, the girlfriend removed one of her earrings and secretly threw it under one of the shelves.
Miyuki was expected to look for it.
Osamu and Miyuki were all fours trying to find the earring but in the end, the girlfriend said that it was ok.
She then told Osamu that the earring was a present from him and it was gone just like the handkerchief she gave him.
Osamu heard one of the staff asking Miyuki if she was ok and perhaps she needed a break.
Miyuki cheerfully said that a smile will make the hurt go away.
This got to Osamu who remembered that his mother used to tell him the very same thing when he was younger.
Miyuki actually wanted to become a voice-over artist and had already applied to be one.
She got a shot at it because unbeknown to her, Osamu used his influence to get her place in the team.
Osamu can’t get Miyuki out of his head. He went back to the DIY shop to see Miyuki.
He was told that it was Miyuki’s day off but she would often be found in the nearby park practicing her voice over.
Osamu saw her diligently doing her lines.
Miyuki said that she knew he was Osamu, her idol who inspired her to try being a voice actress as well.
Osamu confided to Miyuki that he does not get to do enough voice-over anymore. He then asked her what she thought of his picture book.
Miyuki said she saw it but she thought his eyes were unhappy.
Osamu was enchanted.
Miyuki understands him. She gets him.
Osamu wanted to know that she was always smiling.
Miyuki said “If you are smiling, happiness will follow.”
That did it for Osamu, who got so excited he rashly asked Miyuki to kekkon with him. Yes! Marry him…. so cute.
Miyuki was shocked. Her initial eh? turned to EHHHHH
Episode 2
Anyway, it looks like Miyuki chose to misinterpret Osamu’s proposal by saying that it was some sort of dialogue from Prism Baby drama.
Osamu was forced to agree with her.
He later told a bartender/owner friend that he proposed to a girl but it did not go well.
But at this point, he was still living with his girlfriend, Alice.
But every time he was free he can’t help seeking Miyuki out.
He was truthful to Miyuki. He told her that she got to the final audition because she has the perfect profile of an underdog, that would make the company’s image to look fair and not-discriminatory to their artists. But the result for the audition had been decided even before it took place and Miyuki will not win.
Miyuki said that she sort of knew it already because she heard the producers talking that it was a good move to have included an ugly girl for the final audition. They then mentioned their favourite.
Miyuki also said to Osamu that despite her low possibility of winning, she will do her best just like in Prism Baby, where a 1 percent chance can turn to 100 percent.
Osamu made a deal with the producers. He was willing to do more modeling assignments if they let Miyuki wins.
It was the day of her audition but her so-called best friend, who was also trying her luck to become a koe girl, locked her in a delivery truck. Thank goodness one of the store staff heard her frantic banging and let her out.
She ran all the way to the studio. She tripped and hurt herself. With bleeding nose, she went ahead with her audition.
She could not believe that she won!
She was later visited by Osamu’s girlfriend with the pretext that she was inquiring about her lost earring but warning Miyuki at the same time about Osamu. Alice told Miyuki that because he felt sorry for her, he begged the management to make Miyuki win in exchanged of more modeling jobs for him which he hated so much.
Osamu got a call from his manager, who said that Miyuki declined her win because she doesn’t want Osamu to do something he does not want to do.
He then ran to the DIY shop and ended the episode by asking Miyuki to kekkon, marry again.
Episode 3
Again she thought that it was another proposal dialogue but this time he stopped her and told her that he was serious. He said Iskedes (I Love You) awww
Her stomach answered for her. They went for their first date in her favourite barbecue restaurant where they serve grilled meat with unlimited rice.
Miyuki taught Osamu how to respect, appreciate and enjoy the rice/food.
He took some photos of her enjoying her food and he was gazing lovingly at them. He proudly showed them off to the barman later on.
He finally broke up with his frisky girlfriend.
He then quickly took Miyuki to have a meeting with her father and asked his permission to marry his daughter.
They then completed a marriage contract form.
On their way home, they were totally loved up, both giddily excited.
The next day, Osamu waited for her at the registrar office but Miyuki did not show up.
It was because of the ex-girlfriend had confronted `Miyuki and insulted her. Miyuki lost her confidence so she had another think about marrying Osamu.
Osamu found her very very upset. Their back hug was so cute. He reassured her that he loves her forever and then showed her that they were actually married. He had their marriage certificate already stamped. Awww
Episode 4
Osamu had told his management that he had registered his marriage.
When the management saw who he married, the CEO fainted from disbelief. He was worried his lead Koe Boy will lose his fanbase.
But Osamu was firm with his decision.
The management went to work about finding the couple their house and shopping for furniture. But they had to pretend that Miyuki was Osamu’s young manager rather than his wife.
Though Miyuki tagged along, they always prevented her from being too near Osamu.
However, the boy was really in love and only had eyes for Miyuki.
Seeing that Miyuki was being put under a lot of stress, he secretly arranged a church wedding which was only attended by himself and Miyuki of course. The wedding was officiated by the barman.
They had a very moving wedding but Miyuki did not expect any kissing and was shocked when the vicar ended the wedding vows with ‘you may now kiss the bride’ . 🙂
Osamu then video live-stream the end of the wedding ceremony.
Episode 5
The next morning, Miyuki was woken up by a very loving Osamu.
Miyuki was so surprised to see him next to her in bed. Osamu reminded her that they are married. 🙂 So cute.
She also noticed that they are wearing a couple’s pajamas. Again he reminded her that they are married.
Miyuki shyly told him that she was going to cook breakfast instead of ordering from uberEats.
And she did as Osamu saw their dining table laden with super big breakfast of steak, tonkatsu, kaarage, fried rice, steamed rice, soba noodles, Neopolitan noodles.
Osamu was rather daunted by such a large meal especially when he saw Miyuki eating noodles with fried rice. Too much carb.
Miyuki saw Osamu looking at her in wonder so she told him that noodles are best with rice.
As he tried it Osamu found that it was delicious and he said so.
The CEO of his management was having a nervous breakdown because Osamu’s marriage to Miyuki was trending.
Miyuki’s friend had sold photos she secretly took of Miyuki and Osamu while registering their marriage. She then invited Miyuki to meet up. She had already set up something that would further humiliate Miyuki.
Miyuki knew that Yuka betrayed her over and over but Miyuki was unwilling to do anything about her because she is not a confrontational sort of girl,
Osamu was not unaware that Miyuki is suffering and he feels guilty about it. After giving her a tight hug, he suggested that they should invite Miyuki’s father to stay for a while to see them in their new house.
It was a lovely get together. Miyuki’s father saw the food Miyuki had prepared and thought that it was so lovely for her to have bothered with so much for his visit.
Miyuki sort of said that she prepares this much food every day.
Her father advised her that she should change her ways because she could affect Osamu’s health. He might gain so much weight which would not be good for his job as a celebrity.
Osamu did say that he likes the food Miyuki makes.
Osamu and the father-in-law had a male bonding at the bar where the father found out that Osamu does love and is devoted to Miyuki.
Miyuki then overheard that her father had a stage 3 cancer but her father had asked Osamu to keep it secret from Miyuki. He does not want her worrying as her mother died of cancer when she was still in elementary.
It looks like Miyuki’s career as a koe girl is over before it even began. She was fired by the management.
Episode 6
Osamu was very upset that Miyuki got fired by his agency.
But Miyuki said that she was alright about it. She had been so lucky to have met and married him.
Anyway Miyuki said that they could scream out their frustrations into the woods/park.
Miyuki shouted her heart out which was heard by the legendary voice-over coach who then asked her to join his agency.
Miyuki started working hard and Osamu supported her 100 percent. He offered to make breakfast while she was training.
Miyuki went to see Osamu’s mother, who tested Miyuki before she decided to talk.
Miyuki learned that Osamu’s mother was losing money fast and getting into so much debts.
Osamu was only starting to make a bit of money for his voice-over. He pooled all his money and gave them to his mother.
He later found out that she gave all the money to her lover who ran off with another woman.
But his mother continued to pine for her lover. This frustrated Osamu so much, he cut her off his life.
Episode 7
Alice was not a bad girl. She was actually quite fair. She was the one who told Osamu that he could audition for Fair Game
Miyuki and Osamu both tried out for the audition for a voice-over to a Hollywood film called Fair Game.
They both progress to the last audition.
Osamu’s agency called Miyuki and Osamu. They were given the news that they both passed.
Osamu and Miyuki were so happy but their happiness was cut down short when Shigeoka said that though they had both passed only one can take the role as it was frowned upon to have a married couple working together. Apparently it was assumed that if there was trouble in their personal life they might bring this to work.
While having dinner out, Miyuki said that she will pull out and Osamu can take the role.
Osamu went ballistic. He said that they had to discuss it.
Episode 8
What a cute ending.
Miyuki was convinced by Osamu to take the role while he takes a year off to rest and be a househusband. So cute.
It turned out that Alice was not very pretty originally. She had plastic surgery before she joined the entertainment business. That is why she could not really hate Miyuki because she grew up just like Miyuki.
Yuka had also made up with Miyuki.
And Osamu reconciled with his mother.
