Episode 1
This is a really intriguing drama and Jeremy Tsui is so over the top but because he is so handsome, his overacting is so endearing.
The story happens in Yong An. Lord Lu, in charge of the Magistrate of Chang An kept having a dream where he was killed by a woman. This recurring dream would send him in cold sweat and aching heart. The thing was that he does not know the girl in his dream but they seemed to be in some love relationship but she ended up stabbing him.
Anyway, Shen Zhen was at the shop of her married sister, Shen Ran.
Shen Ran was already married but chose to continue working and she has now got 8 shops. She was showing Shen Zhen around. She gave her a present for Shen Zhen’s 20th birthday the next day.
Shen Zhen then went home to find his father who had recently retired from his work. He was a renowned civil engineer/architect who designed, drew and in charge of the contruction of the West Canal.
Shen Zhen was just telling her father that she wishes she was as talented and gifted as him and her sister.
Her father told her that she was ok as herself. They love her gaiety personality which enliven the house.
Their bonding was suddenly interrupted by the arrival of Lord Lu and his men who had come to arrest Lord Shen.
Apparently the West Canal broke which killed and dispossesed my families.
Lord Shen was shocked to learn that the canal collapsed and wanted to go find out why but Lord Lu ask his men to cart him away.
Meanwhile, Shen Zhen run to her father but Lord Lu grabbed her. He looked at her and then he saw her crying face. All of a sudden, his heart started to pulsate and he fainted.
When he woke up, he was was already at home and was rather disorientated.
It looks like everytime, Shen Zhen cries, Lord Lu will have a heart ache and then faint.
This happened a few time already. In one of his dream, it got more detailed and noticed that the perfume pouch that Shen Zhen wore in her waist was the same as the girl in his dream had.
He remembered that Lord Shen passed something to Shen Zhen while they were arresting him so he had Shen Zhen followed.
They traced her a safety deposit bank.
Shen Zhen had just opened the locker when Lord Lu turned up. He grabbed the box from the locker.
The box dropped while Shen Zhen was trying to take it back from him. From the box, they found a letter which Lord Lu read first and then quickly passed it to Shen Zhen.
The letter was from her late mother who said that she hoped Shen Zhen like the jade bracelet she left her.
Of course, the bracelet was broken.
Lord Lu felt so guilty about it and tried to give Shen Zhen his jade token which he said was more of value.
This enraged Shen Zhen who said that it was not the value but it was the last gift form her dead mother.
Shen Ran turned up and ushered her sister away. She told Shen Zhen that she could stay at her shop as it was not officially opened to the public yet so no one will be disturbing her. She will do everything to sort the issue about their father.
