At long last, hospitality which is the very essence of Filipinohood (just making words as I go along, LOL) has been found in some remote islands of the typhoon stricken Philippines. US Marine Major John Orio was pleasantly surprised and quite gratified of the hospitality shown to him by people of Manicani island in Eastern Samar.
Major Orio said that as soon as the helicopter landed, dozens of local men came to welcome them and helped in unloading the supplies. The men were dignified; no shoving, no pushing, no blame games, no snatching like what the politicians have been shamelessly showing the world.
The major was delighted with the show of kindness from the unassuming people. He was given a fresh coconut and a huge crab. Awww
