Margaret Thatcher – The Iron Lady

You either hate her or love her. I feel the latter myself. I think this woman was a great Briton, a true credit to her country. A woman like her can only be emulated. She is an inspiration to women. She has brain, she has guts and balls.

To MAGGIE, you are one heck of a woman.

Long you may live!

Margaret Thatcher – The Iron Lady

Did you know?

Lady Thatcher was known to work for 18 hours a day and would only require 4 hours sleep.

Amnesty International & Direct Debit

While out shopping in Golders Green yesterday, I got waylaid by one of those working for Amnesty International.

First he asked me whether I liked everything I bought, he saw my shopping bags, I said yes, I would have not bought them otherwise.

He then proceeded to tell me about their campaign in Iran. He said that in 2013 Iran is due to update their laws and regulations. Amnesty International will campaign strongly on the kind of sentences given to women. He said that at this present time there were 16 women waiting for their punishment to be carried out by Iran.

He said that for adultery both men and women are punishable by Iranian laws. Some of the usual punishments are partial burial and stoning. The stoning is mainly for the women; he also mentioned about the sizes of the stones. The partial burial is for both the men and the women. If you can get yourself out of your burial, you are free to go, a free man, literally!!! The crux of the matter is that men are buried up to their waists while women are buried to their necks. So you see men can possibly dig themselves out but the poor women have no chance!

Amnesty International & Direct Debit

Anyway I was appalled and shocked by the barbarity, I was willing to give a tenner but the worker wanted a direct debit payment of £1.70 monthly. Suddenly the weight of my shopping bags started to bother me, I can’t get away fast enough!!! I am a nasty person!

Advice to Amnesty International: please bring a collection bucket next-time. Some people like me has a mindset of not trusting a Direct Debit payment. It sort of get in the way with the monthly bills!!!  I have had many instances of ruing a direct debit!

Do carry on with your good intentions and much lauded work though with a bucket donation next time!  It might just be a tenner from me but much better than No to direct debit.

EU Referendum Debate

Euro Sign

News on the radio this morning, more and more Conservative backbenchers will back the hundred thousand petitioners on the government online poll regarding the need for a referendum here in the UK.
The referendum will decide whether we want to stay in the EU or just get out.

EU Referendum Debate

David Cameron would block the referendum issue as he thinks this is not the time to hold any form of referendum in connection with the EU, ignoring the fact that most people would like to have a say on the matter. Another of Conservative manifesto that is on the process of being deleted. Hahaha. What can we expect?!!!
