Garlic Properties

Garlic is not solely for use to ward off vampires. LOL

Garlic is nutritious and has medicinal properties.

I read somewhere that eating a clove or two of garlic a day during the flu/cough/cold season can boost your immunity.

Garlic releases a compound called allicin, which is full of anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties – the perfect excuse to tuck into a big bowl of pasta, full of garlicky sauces.

helpful tipsBut did you know?

Once upon a time the French used garlic oil to massage someone suffering from asthma.

The Ancient Egyptian used garlic to treat leprosy and smallpox.  They applied the garlic by binding the sole of the feet with a linen cloth.  The linen cloth was changed regularly and with new batch of crushed garlic.

Apparently garlic was also used to treat athlete’s foot.  The garlic is sliced thinly and then applied between the toes that have the athlete’s foot.

Garlic is a natural viagra.  It has aphrodisiac properties.

Garlic is said to lower blood pressure.

It is a natural antibiotic.

Stimulate immune functions.

Lower blood sugar levels.

Apparently garlic is also known for its aphrodisiac properties. 🙁  Eating a lot of garlic will cleanse the blood, tone up the organs and build up stamina and strength.  This might be so but garlic breath leaves a lot to be desired.  Though taking the tablet form of garlic is effective, it is not as good as gnawing on fresh cloves!  🙂
