The Chestnut Tree – A Parable
Peter told me this parable from a book he was currently reading. I thought it was very charming so here it is.
A Food for Thought
One day, a king was walking through a forest when he came upon an old man planting seeds from sweet chestnut tree.
The King curiously asked the man, “Why are you planting chestnuts when you would probably not be alive to benefit from the sweet nuts of the tree? Surely it would take years for the tree to grow?”
The old man replied humbly to the king “If no one planted chestnuts a long time ago, I would not have known and enjoyed the taste of sweet chestnuts.”

Isn’t that beautiful? Sometimes we have to think of the bigger picture; our universe is not a one man band.
