Episode 1
The noise from the festivities to celebrate her 20th birthday annoyed Liu Ling, the PrincessChang Le, as it woke her from her sleep.
Her lady-in-waiting, Ling Bi, brought in the Princess’s first birthday presents, a red necklace, and a huge pearl.
Liu Ling boredly told Ling Bi to bring the pearl to the kitchen and have it pulped and give it to the dogs: her stepmother, and half-sister, Lu Ping.
Lu Ping is the daughter of Prince Guanping from his second wife.
The stepmother and Lu Ping came to visit Liu Ling. The stepmother gave Liu Ling a gold hairpin which Liu Ling immediately threw on the floor which made Liu Ping annoyed at the intended insult to her mother.
Anyway, the stepmother told everyone to leave as she will help Liu Ling get dressed.
When they were out, the stepmother told Liu Ling to get dressed because she had men waiting in the parlour who wanted to marry Liu Ling. It was time for her to leave otherwise her life will be untenable.
Liu Ling at first looked rather nervous but she hit her stepmother with her sleeves and then told her that she will stay at the house as long as she wanted to.
Liu Ling dressed in red hanfu, almost like a wedding dress, then went to a bar where men are dancing for their customers.
Ling Bi watched worriedly as Liu Ling got drunker and drunker. Ling Bi then escorted the male dancer and musician out of the private room while Liu Ling slept off her drunkenness.
Liu Ling was woken up by the sight of a man who staggered into the room.
It was the handsome Shen Yan who was the commander of one of the fourteen armies of Jinlin Guards.
Liu Ling wickedly tried to seduce him but he was actually in pain from having been stabbed by a bandit, Yun Yi who got away.
Still, Shen Yan ended up in a tussle with her causing him to drop his waist token. Shen Yan heard the commotion outside so he left without saying anything.
But Liu Ling was impressed and found out what and who he was by the token she found.
When she got back home, she was summoned by her father, Prince Guanping who ordered her to apologise to her mother.
Liu Ling said that her mother was dead. She categorically refused to apologise. Instead, she grabbed a leather whip and handed it to her father, she told him to do it as she turned her back and knelt down.
Her father whipped her many times which made her stepmother secretly gleeful.
Ling Bi, later on, applied ointment to her back wounds.
Liu Ling was not sorry, she was just looking at the token of Shen Yu when he suddenly appeared. Again a little flirtation. He asked her to return his waist token but she said she had never seen it.
As she was loosely dressed, he saw her back wounds and gave her a little pot of ointment for her bruises. He had to leave as her guard was alerted of his presence.
Liu Ling, with her maid, was traveling to Yunjie in a carriage when they neared where Shen Yan with his guards managed to corner the bandit, Yun Yi.
Yun Yi wickedly threw a dart at a horse that was pulling Liu Ling’s carriage.
Shen Yan stabbed Yun Yi and then he was just in time to rescue Liu Ling who had fallen from the carriage pulled by spooked runaway horses.
More flirtation, so cute.
Episode 2
Loving this drama. Crystal Yuan is adorable as the frisky princess.🤗 Ye Cheng is of course charismatic as always.
The princess stalked Shen Yan everywhere he went but when she was in danger, he was there to save her.
She followed him one rainy evening while he was trying to catch an assassin but found her instead so they get to spend the night in an abandoned cottage where she slept inside well tucked in animal fur while he stayed outside guarding her.
They went back to Jin Lin barracks the next day. She was still flirting with him when Lu Mingyan turned up.
Lu Mingyan said that his father had agreed with her father on their engagement showing her a red letter that she did not read but rather ripped into pieces.
She told Mingyan that she had been comprised. Her reputation was now in tatters as she spent a wonderful night with Shen Yan.
Shen Yan denied it.
Episode 3
The arrest of Yun Yi was making everyone in the Capital rather anxious.
The Lus and the Xus are particularly perturbed.
Xu Zi Shin had been given a bodyguard by her grandfather. The man is masked and called Ghost Face who is an expert martial artist but was mute. (This Ghost Face looks like Shen Yu, the older brother of Shen Yan)
Meanwhile, the Princess had gone rather overboard with her flirting with Shen Yan.
Shen Yan warned her that if he starts thinking of her as ‘the one’, he will be hers and will follow her forever. He told her that if all she wanted was to have fun then she should get lost.
At last, the Princess thought about it and run away which became another problem for Shen Yan as intel had told him to be careful as something big was about to happen.
Episode 4
Xu Zi Shin sent the Ghost Face to Shen Yan to warn him that Hu Xiao is about to attack him to rescue Yun Yi.
Hu Xiao is a mercenary who is an expert martial artist.
It turned out that Xu Zi Shin was once betrothed to Shen Yan. She still has feelings for him.
But he was over her because he was already crushing on the Princess. In fact, they even adopted a piglet together. The Princess named the pig Shen Oink.
Episode 5
The Jin Lin Guards were on the alert.
They have reason to as Hu Xiao and his assassins turned up. Jin Lin Guards put up a good fight but a masked Lu Minghao abducted the Princess.
Shen Yan went after them and got stabbed after he had to sacrifice himself to save Liu Ling.
Lu Minghao pushed the princess onto the cliff after she stabbed him in the leg with her hairpin. Shen Yu went after her.
Then ended up recuperating in a cave.
Liu Ling was so grateful she fell more in love with him and kissed him.

Liu Ling wrote an engagement breaking up letter but when her grandpa read it, he said it was not suitable.
So he wrote it for her. He said instead that Lu Minghan was too lowly, being only a son of a concubine for a Princess Chang Le personally appointed by the Emperor.
Despite the letter, Lu Minghan refused to break the engagement because it was an agreement between their fathers.
Episode 9
There was an archery contest which is promoted by the Crown Prince.
The Crown Prince said that whoever wins the contest could ask him any favor, provided it is reasonable.
Many participated in the contest including Lui Ping, Lu Mingshan, and Liu Ling. These three actually were the last three and they had to compete amongst themselves for the ultimate winner.
Shen Yan warned Liu Ling that Lui Ping and Lu Mingshan seemed in cahoot about something.
That was well observed because Lu MIngshan gave a dagger to Lui Ping to make a cut to the rope holding the swing that Liu Ling had to stand on while shooting a target.
In the end, Liu Ling still won despite almost falling.
As it was, Lui Ling requested termination of her engagement to Lu Mingshan.
To make it official, Lui Ling went to the Lu Mansion and spoke to Lu Minghan’s grandpa, who happened to be her stepmother’s father.
She told the patriarch that the engagement was off. Instead, Liu Ling advised that Lu Minghan should be allowed to marry his maid who is already pregnant.
The grandpa saw red and ordered to banish the maid. he then beat up Lu Minghan.
The maid, Yue Ling, begged Lu Qian (Liu Ling’s stepmother) to allow her to stay around Minghan and promised to do anything. She told Lu Qian that she will tarnish Lui Ling’s reputation.
Lu Qian was quite happy about it and took Yue Ling to the Duke Ding’s mansion to work as a maid.
Yue Ling started her machination which turned really nasty.
Yue Ling gave poor Shen Oink to starving immigrants while both Liu LIng and Ling Bi were otherwise engaged.
When Liu Ling found Shen Oink he was already roasted and being eaten.
Yue Ling immediately said that it was her fault.
Liu LIng slapped her because she knew Yue Ling planned it all.
Yue Ling also had taken an abortion tea so she would start bleeding and would blame her miscarriage on Liu Ling.
Episode 10
The people around them started pointing fingers on Liu Ling for causing Yue Ling’s miscarriage.
Liu Ling was too upset to care and was crying while picking the bones of poor Shen Oink.
Shen Yan turned up and comforted her, he took her on riding then showed her a meteor shower.
She was comforted but then when she got home her very indulgent grandpa told her never to meet Shen Yan again.
Liu Ling walked out from the conversation.
Grandpa tasked his son to make sure Liu Ling and Shen Yan break up.
His son told him that Shen Yan was actually quite a catch.
Grandpa said that he knew Shen Yan was a good man but the nature of his job is less than ideal.
Grandpa said that he was getting old and worried no one will be there for Liu Ling.
If she ends up with Shen Yan she will be one of those ‘widows in the making’. Shen Yan’s job was too dangerous.
Xu Zhijin tried to help Shen Yan and Liu Ling to get together but the opposite happened.
Shen Yan overhead the conversation between Liu Ling and Zhijin.
Liu Ling said that she loves Shen Yan with all her heart but she was not confident that it would last.
Shen Yan did not wait to listen to any of Liu Ling’s explanations.
Meanwhile, Yueling had been found dead. She was made to look like she had taken her own life but Shen Yan thought otherwise and started his investigation.
Episode 11
Shen Yan was suspended from his job as commander of the 14 Units and had a very surprised Luo Fan made to take over from him.
Shen Yan continued to blank Liu Ling and ignored all the yummy foods she was sending to him at the HQ.
Meanwhile, Grandpa had told Liu Ling that perhaps they should look for a better match for her, someone from a high noble family.
The Crown Prince was sexually harassing Zhijin.
Shen Yu, however, was really into Zhijin and would do anything for her.
Shen Yu, Zhijin, and Liu Ling started an investigation team to find out more about Yun Yi and the secret of the jade token.
Episode 12
Zhijin asked Liu Ling for help so that Shen Yan could get into the Lu Mansion.
Liu Ling created havoc at the Lu Mansion during a party which allowed Shen Yan to get into the library and search for the jade token.
However, knowing that such action would be taken by Shen Yan, the Lu family was ready prepared and as soon as Shen Yan entered the library, they locked him in.
Lu Mingyan and his guard were going to confront the intruder at the library but Liu Ling stood in their way. It turned into a rumble when Liu Ling ordered her guards to attack.
Lu Mingyan dropped the jade token from his waistline.
Someone picked up the jade.
They then heard someone crying for help inside the library.
Lu Mingyan was about to forcibly remove Liu Ling in front of the door but he was stopped by Shen Yan.
Their mission was accomplished. It turned out that Shen Yu was in disguise as a labourer and picked the jade token up.
Now, Shen Yan took Liu Liang to fight off assassins. It was pretty bloody. Shen Yan told her that his sobriquet of Stern-face Yama was for real. His job entails killing and he could also be killed if he was not careful. He asked if she was prepared to embrace his kind of life.
Liu Ling thought about it carefully and she said that she loves him totally because he was really killing bad people. What she was worried about was the constancy of their relationship..

The Princess and her grandpa, the Duke of Dingbai went to see the emperor who refused to see them.
Episode 15
Liu Ling’s uncle and aunt was poisoning the Duke of Dingbai so they can inherit the property sooner rather than later.
This put `Liu Ling in a precarious place in the family.
Liu Ling and Shen Yan ad a painful breakup.
Episode 16
Liu Liushan, Liu Ling’s father had a change of heart and realised how he had let down his daughter and his first wife.
Shen Yan and Liu Ling met up at a wedding of one of the officers at Beidan Court. As a goodbye to Shen Yan, Liu Ling told him to kiss her but then he declined despite being tempted because he remembered her harsh words to breaking up with him.
