Lemon is very high in vitamin C and therefore they are vital in preservation of healthy skin and gum.`

Nutrients contained in lemons are vitamin C, folic acid, potassium, limonene and fibre.

This brightly yellow citrus fruit is so versatile, it can be used for cooking, preserving, dyeing, cleaning as well as a beauty product amongst other things.

Jason Donovan, the Australian actor, has admitted to rubbing lemon into his hair and then sitting under the sun to highlight and lighten his threshes, it seemed it worked too; this was in the 80s or early 90s.

Apparently to get as much juice from your lemon, a good tip is to heat it up in the microwave for 30 second before squeezing every drop from it. If you do not have a microwave just remember that a lemon in a room temperature yields more juice than one that came out straight from the fridge. Do not throw the lemon shells but you can freeze them for upto 6 months. You can use the shells to stuff cavities of chicken to roast for extra zingy flavour. You could also use the shell for stews and casseroles.

Then squeeze lemon juice into any holes or cracks where the ants are getting in. Finally, scatter small slices of lemon peel around the outdoor entrance. The ants will get the message that they aren’t welcome. Lemons are also effective against roaches and fleas: Simply mix the juice of 4 lemons (along with the rinds) with 1/2 gallon (2 liters) water and wash your floors with it; then watch the fleas and roaches flee. They hate the smell.

Make the fruit salad hours in advance too. Just squeeze some lemon juice onto the apple slices, and they’ll stay snowy white.

45. Reduce Asthma Symptoms
In addition to a general detoxifying diet, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice before each meal, and before retiring can reduce asthma symptoms.
