Pork a la Beef Steak, Filipino Recipe

Beef Steak or more popularly known as bistek in the Philippines can be substituted with pork as well.

It is also delicious although beef is still the better tasting in my opinion.

Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops (boneless)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 limes or 2 lemons, juiced
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 2 medium onions, sliced in rings
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp granulated white sugar
  •  Salt & pepper

Method of Preparation

  • Put the pork chops in a large dish.  Using a large bowl, mix the soy sauce with the juice from limes or lemons juice.
  • Pour the juice and soy sauce mix over the pork chops.  Ensure the chops are covered with the sauce.  Leave to marinate for at least an hour.
    •  Heat a frying pan or a wok over medium heat.  pour in cooking oil carefully.
    •  Pan fry the marinated pork chops (do not discard the marinade but set it aside) for 5 minutes at each side or until brown all over.
    • Turn up the heat.  Pour the marinade and water then bring to a boil. Lower down the heat and leave to simmer for 45 minutes or until pork is tender.
    •  Add in the sugar, salt, and pepper then stir.
    •  Put in the onion rings and continue cooking for another 3-5 minutes.
Serve and enjoy with freshly boiled rice or garlic fried rice.
      Yummy
