Synopsis:

It is a love triangle between best friends Bai Yan Ze and Lan Tian over Song Cha Cha.  Bai Yan Ze is a phenomenal swimmer with a humble beginning while Lan Tian is from a prominent family.  Song Cha Cha came from a rich family who had suffered hard times.

Song Cha Cha was engaged to be married to Lan Tian but he suddenly breaks it off with her.

 

I am so looking forward to this drama as it stars Ju JIngyi.  I loved her in the recently concluded drama, The Legend of YunXi and I just finished watching another interesting drama called Novoland: Castle in the Sky, in which she was also one of the stars.

Episode 1

I just watched the newly released first episode of Mr Swimmer in its raw form.  Even so, the drama is already addictive despite not fully understanding the plot yet.

Anyway, the drama started in Los Angeles and Bai Yan Ze was competing in an international swimming contest.

Despite the bullying tactics from the American athlete, Anderson Cruz, Bai Yan Ze won by a couple of seconds faster than Cruz’s.

Lan Tian, Bai Yan Ze’s best friend, was jubilant.

Lan Tian gave him a winner’s party afterwards, where Anderson Cruz was also invited.  Cruz can’t get over the fact that he lost and quickly ended the party picking up a fight with Bai Yan Ze.

Bai Yan Ze’s supposed happy win turned into a one he would rather forget.  Because of the negative press of what happened at the party, his girlfriend Lan Xin was unhappy with him.

Meanwhile, the one-upon-a-time-princess Cha Cha is now working as a waitress but got bullied out of a job by her so-called once friends.

She ended up working in a club but this turned out rather chaotic as well.  She ended up running away and hiding in one of the club rooms, which happened to be where Bai Yan Ze was drinking alone.

She begged him to help her.  He did by giving her leather jacket to cover her skimpy dress.  They then pretended that they were having an intimate time when the men chasing after her came looking for her.

She was thankful to him and let her keep his jacket.

Lan Tian’s father contacted Song Cha Cha to remind her that his son promised her a wedding.  He pretended to arrange a wedding but in the end was Lan Tian no-show.  She has been jilted.

Episode 2

Lan Tian did not show up because he did not know anything about the wedding.

His sneaky father arranged it all to ensure that Song Cha Cha gets so mad with Lan Tian and will have nothing more to do with him.

Episode 3

Lan Tian was really cut up about having deceived Song Cha Cha.  His father told him that he would not allow the relationship to go on as well as stop him from continuing his passion for swimming.  So he ended up finally ending it with Cha Cha telling her that he has forgotten her because he found someone new.

Poor Song Cha Cha, she was once a little princess before her father died, lost his company and her money suffering from amnesia.

Episode 4

Bai Yan Ze is becoming more obsessed with Cha Cha thinking that she was out to get him.

Episode 5

Song Cha Cha has started working at the resort.  On her first day, her first job was to clean the hotel bedroom of Bai Yan Ze.  They were both surprised at the seeing one another that with their shock they fell onto the bed.

They began to realise that they may be attracted to each other.

Lan tian is not the easy going guy that he was.  He has a hidden nasty streak.

Episode 6

Song Cha Cha drunk too much and woke up in the bed of Lan Tian, while poor Bai Yan Ze did her a favour of doing her work for her.

In the end Bai Yan Ze advised her to do whatever her heart tells her.  If she wanted Lan Tian, she should do everything to get him without minding other’s opinion.

Episode 7 & 8

Poor Bai Yan Ze is feeling under the weather all the time.  He had been having chest pains often.  At one time, he was having an attack when Cha Cha found him.  Fearing of being found out, he kissed Cha Cha to stop her making noise and alerting the patrolling security guard.

Bai Yan Ze and Lan Tian are rivals not only in swimming but by trying to protect Song Cha Cha.  They both care for her but showing it in different ways. Bai Yan Ze it overtly while Lan Tian would tell her to give up on him.

But it seems this is set to end as Bai Yan Ze’s adopted parents came to see him in the resort in view of withdrawing him from Huang Jiao Liang’s mentorship.

Song Cha Cha was so upset about missing to wish him goodbye.

Episode 9

Bai Yan Ze had a somatic heart attack at airport toilet.  He told his parents that he can’t leave with them.

He went back to the resort.

Song Cha Cha asked him to pretend to be her boyfriend, which he agreed to reluctantly.

Song Cha Cha was on a day out with her friend when she got lost in the woods.  As night falls, her friend told Yon Ze that Cha Cha was missing. Lan Tian also found and went straight to the forest to look for her.o

Yon Ze and Lan Tian almost found her at the same time but Lan Tian was just a tad faster.  He brought her to the hospital but he called Yon Ze to say he was going and he had to look after his own girlfriend.

Yon Ze noticed that Song Cha Cha was very feverish.  When she opened her eyes, she deliriously thought he was Lan Tian.

Episode 10

Song Cha Cha had been harassing Yon Ze to continue with their pretend relationship to make Lan Tian jealous.

It worked too.

But Song Cha Cha was fired from the resort.  Yon Ze went to the management and threatened to walk out if Song Cha Cha is not reinstated.  They said he can go too.

Episode 11

YonZe and Song Cha Cha are out of job.  Song Cha Cha, however, questions YonZe’s motivation to quit.  She made him realise that in her case a job is just a job but he was giving up his dream.

He also told her a little bit of his background.  He said that his adoptive parents went to the orphanage to look for a boy who can swim.

He was desperate to be adoptive, he lied that he swims very well when in fact he has never been swimming.

So before his adoption is finalised, he learnt to swim all by himself in a little lake by the orphanage.

They are really getting closed together and their pretend relationship might be for real soon as Cha Cha finally realised how much caring YonZe towards her without letting her know.

She also found out that it was YonZe who stayed with her in the hospital when she was ill.

Episode 12

YonZe was asked back to return to the resort and be part of the team again because of a business partner of Lan Tian’s father.  The partner’s daughter is a great fan of Yon Ze and wanted to meet him.

They had to beg him to return.

He did want to return because his new sponsor was from entertainment business who he heard wanted his ex-girlfriend to do porn movies in exchange for the sponsorship.

Yon Ze asked Lan Tian’s dad that he wanted a personal chef and that he has someone already in mind for the role.

Of course, it was Song Cha Cha, who was jobless.

Unfortunately, Cha Cha is a novice cook.  Her attempt at cooking sent him puking to the toilet. 🙂

Episode 13

Despite her bad culinary skills, Yon Ze got used to Song Cha Cha’s cooking immediately.  Kudos to her, she did try to learn how to cook.

Yon Ze had an attack during a swimming training.  He then had another one during a contest, which he forfeited.

He was diagnosed with having sports anxiety.  Song Cha Cha promised to him her support.

Episode 14

It was Lan Tian’s mother’s death anniversary.  He invited Song Cha Cha and Yon Ze to a movie and a dinner.

But it was not a happy peaceful one as it ended in jealousy.

They all went to Australia for further training.

Lan Tian was in turmoil, he tried to commit suicide by drowning.  Yon Ze was there to rescue him but he made it very difficult.

He then created a misunderstanding between Song Cha Cha and Yon Ze.

Episode 15

Yon Ze caught Song Cha Cha being hugged tightly by Lan Tian.

He was so upset he started giving Song Cha Cha a hard time.

She was feisty if anything so she packed her bag ready to go but found out that it was actually Yon Ze birthday that day.

She decided instead to throw him a surprise birthday party.  They were at sea in a yacht when he found out that Cha Cha was cooking for him.  As it was unfair to turn the yacht back to shore, he jumped into the sea and swam.

Episode 16

Cha Cha bought a couple bracelets for her and Yon Ze.

Thinking that Yon Ze overdosed on sleeping pills, Cha Cha shook the sleeping Yon Ze so hard.  Finding that he was ok, she then hugs him so tightly Yon Ze had to tell her he could not breathe.  This scene is so cute.

Episode 17

The team voted to expel Yon Ze from the team because of his erratic behaviour and lack of cooperation on swimming practice.  The coach got annoyed and he said he is resigning from the team.

Now they had to do everything to convince him to stay.

The team found out that ChaCha and Yon Ze relationship was all fake.

But it was too late as it was no longer fake.  Song Cha Cha likes Yon Ze for real.  And she told Yon Ze so but he advised her that she was better off with Lan Tian.

Episode 18

Li Bao followed Yon Ze to Australia and started to cause mayhem.

Lan Tian found out that back when they were still in the US when he has already broken up with Cha Cha, Yon Ze unknowingly sent an email to Cha Cha on behalf of Lan Tian as a prank.  The email told Cha Cha to wait for him (Lan Tian) thus instead of forgetting him, Cha Cha waited.

Anyway, Lan Tian found out that Yon Ze and Cha Cha was on a fake relationship. But they are not faking like each other anymore.

It was time to go back to China.  At the airport, Yon Ze realised that he forgot his half of the couple bracelets that Cha Cha gave him.  So he raced back to the hotel to get it.

Not knowing this, Li Bai stole Cha Cha plane ticket to make her stranded all by herself in Australia.

In a way, Cha Cha was not too bothered to lose her ticket, she even pretended that she lost her passport as well so that she can stay behind to wait for Lin Tian while the rest go back to China.

 

Episode 19 

Yon Ze and Cha Cha stayed in Australia for an extra day and they made up and had a lovely day.  They were like young honeymooners.

Song Cha Cha and Yon Ze left Australia as a separate couple, yap they have broken up again.  Yon Ze said that he has to win the gold medal for his parents and he cannot have any distraction.

Episode 20

Cha Cha and Yon Ze relationship is just to strong.  Yon Ze told her that he will just ignore everything in his life in favour of her.  He loves her and that is the end of it.  But for the moment they have to keep their relationship a secret.

Lan Tian, however, knew both Cha Cha and Yon Ze very well so he is aware that there something going on between them.

Lan Tian took out his frustration with a golf club and created havoc in his hotel room.  He actually looks rather sexy with the golf club on his shoulder and with a maniacal look.

Episode 21

Lan Tian promised that if he gets to the top three, he was going to propose to Song Cha Cha.

Lan Tian arranged a romantic setting for the proposal but ChaCha runs off.

Episode 22

Cha Cha and Yon Ze are officially together.

But during a family dinner, Lan Tian secretly invited Cha Cha and announced to his father that he was going to marry Cha Cha.

Cha Cha declined and said that she’s with someone else now.

Episode 23

Cha and Yon ze run off to Beijing to be alone.  They had a romantic where Yon Ze promised Cha Cha that he will always protect her.

While having some touchy-feely time, they were accosted by a gang of old ladies, shaming them and even pulling Cha Cha’s hair for being a hussy.  The women are fans of Yon Ze ex-girlfriend who was, of course, an actress.

What they left behind got complicated so the two lovebirds ended up going on their separate ways back home.

Episode 24

Yon Ze found Cha Cha’s purse.  Inside was her family photo including her brother, who happened to be the same boy in Yon Ze’s nightmare.

Yon Ze could not believe this turn of event.

Episode 25

Yon Ze went back to the beach where the swimming accident happened all those years ago.

Cha Cha’s brother was very proud of his medal and his swimming. New boy Yon Ze challenge the boy to go swimming in the sea.  At that time the children were warned not to venture out as there were strong currents.  Yon Ze though that the boy was a loser if he did not come swimming.  The boy ended up being in trouble and ultimately drowned.

Yon Ze started remembering this and out of guilt, he tried to just keep on walking into the sea. And old man had to grab him back to prevent him from going into deep.

Episode 26

Yon Ze broke up with Cha Cha once again and this time it looks rather final.

But Cha Cha just won’t let go of Yon Ze that easily.  She begged him to stay with him.  He did not have any other record but to use Li Bao as a prop girlfriend.

Yon Ze told Cha Cha that he had reconciled with Li Bao.

Cha Cha was absolutely gutted.  She took to bed and fell ill.

Episode 27

Yon Ze cannot take it anymore so he had to tell Cha Cha the reason why he was breaking up with her.  He confessed about his role in her brother’s accident.

Yon Ze was rather dramatic.  He is now convincing himself that he is a robot, who will only work at getting himself a gold medal, preferably from the Olympics.  He doesn’t deserve love, he doesn’t deserve Song Cha Cha.

Episode 28

Though it was a hard thing to do, Cha Cha loved Yon Ze too much not to forgive him.  And she did.  She wanted to start over with him.  But it was too late.  She just found out that Yon Ze and Li Bao had announced their engagement.

Episode 29

Song Cha Cha is forcing herself to like Lan Tian but she can’t bear to be intimate with him.  She doesn’t want to kiss or be kissed by him.

Yon Ze is thinking of quitting swimming altogether and find something else to do.  Though he was prepared to marry Li Bao, he was honest with her.  Telling her that he doesn’t love her.  She said she was ok with that as she loves him so much.

Lan Tian, I think is the one who was with Cha Cha’s brother when he drowned.  Lan Tian’s father is using this information to blackmail Lan Tian into breaking up with Cha Cha the first time around.  This time, when his father brought up the subject again, Lan Tian said that he can’t be forced to give up on Cha Cha anymore especially by his father because he knows his business dirty dealings.  He told his father that he was going to the press to reveal all.

Post engagement announcement. Cha Cha and Yong ze met again after Yong Ze manager begged Cha Cha to look into Yong Ze who was throwing up his inside out because of indigestion.

Cha Cha made him some mullet congee but almost got caught by Lan Tian in Yong Ze’s room.

Episode 30

Cha Cha was convinced by Lan Tian’s father to leave the country for France to study cooking.

On the eve of her departure, Yong Ze, came to spy of her and dropped accidentally his couple bracelet.  Cha Cha’s uncle found it on the ground and gave it to Cha Cha.  She was rather upset because that was her last link to Yong Ze.

Episode 31

For the last time, Cha Cha tried to say goodbye to Yong Ze before she goes to France.  But instead of goodbye, she begged Yong Ze to start over.

Yong Ze was adamant that she will regret it as he was instrumental in the drowning of her brother.  But Cha Cha was in love.

Yong Ze warned her that if they start over then she was his forever.  She can’t change her mind later.

Cha Cha was happily in agreement.

Her French trip is cancelled.

Yong Ze gave a press conference that the engagement with Li Bao was a fake, she was just helping him out…blah…blah…blah

The hilarious romance between Jiao Lian and Lan Xin is heating up.  It is so cute.

Episode 32

The table had turned in the relationship between Jiao Lian and Lan Xin.  Before Lan Xin had been the one pursuing the reluctant Jiao Lian, now Jiao Lian is obsessing about Lan Xin especially when she had appeared to have cooled off.

Yong Ze had been let go at the resort by Lan Tian’s father.

Yong Ze decided to go independent even from his parents and rented himself a dilapidated room.  His friends helped him sort himself out.

He was becoming used to his new situation but Cha Cha’s good for nothing criminal uncle wanted her as a meal ticket and doing everything he could to get Cha Cha and Lan Tian to be together.

He kidnapped Cha Cha and had the pursuing Yong Ze get into an accident.

Episode 33

The prognosis on Yong Ze’s condition is not good.  He could be paralysed.

BTW, I noticed Cha Cha’s mother’s nostrils are enormous!  They’re huge.

The right side of Yong Ze is paralysed.  He had been asked by Li Bao to move in with her again so he could recuperate.

Thinking that Cha Cha will be better off without him, he was prepared to let her go again and be with Lan Tian.

Li Bao made Cha Cha feel guilty of being with Yong Ze.  She asked Cha Cha how can she be still pushing herself on Yong Ze when she has been the cause of his troubles plus the fact that she cannot even sort her own family.  This made Cha Cha think.

Cha Cha and Yong Ze spent one day together and then they said goodbye.

Yong Ze moved in with Li Bao while Cha Cha got engaged with Lan Tian.

Epidose 34

Lan Tian’s father found out about the drowning incident involving his Lan Tian years ago.

Episode 35

It was Li Bao’s birthday and she was having the most atrocious time.  Everyone forgot it, despite her dropping hint, no one really cared.  She was replaced in her new drama.  Yong Ze did not show up during her birthday dinner.  Having waited for so long for Yong Ze, the kitchen in the restaurant had closed and she can’t have her lobster.  To cap it all, her assistant blows her out when she wanted to have at least a birthday drink up.

She was not really the only one having a bad time, during the middle of her engagement party, there was a news that Lan Tian is already engaged to NaNa, which was so embarrassing for Cha Cha.

Yong Ze who attended the parted was so annoyed with Lan Tian because he gave Cha Cha to him to make her happy not embarrass her.

Episode 36

The romance between Lan Xin and Jiao Lian is stepping up a notch.

Lan Tian and Yong Ze competing for Cha Cha’s affection.

Episode 38

Shocking news!  Li Bao just announced that she is pregnant with Yong Ze’s baby.

Episode 39

Yong Ze had a heart to heart talk with Cha Cha,  he told her that his life is over.  Cha Cha magnanimously told him that his life is far from over.  It is only her life with him together that came to an end.  She made him promised to treat Li Bao and the baby well.

The conniving Li Bao is actually not pregnant, it was a false pregnancy but it gave her idea on how to trap Yong Ze to her.

Episode 40

It was Nana’s birthday.  She is the fake girlfriend of Lan Tian.  But it seems Lan Tian is truly falling for the charming and warmhearted Nana.

For her birthday, Cha Cha offered to bake her a cake.

Nana told Cha Cha that she was allergic to peanuts/nuts which was overheard by Li Bao.

LiBao stole the cake that Cha Cha baked and replaced it with a cake with nuts, which caused a severe allergic reaction on Nana causing her to be hospitalised.

Cha Cha went to the hospital to see how Nana was but Lan Tian told her to go home.

Yong Ze though found out about Li Bao and the issue of the cake.  In his rage, he slapped Li Bao.

Episode 41

Lan Xin found an unconscious Li Bao by the stairs.  She took her to the hospital and found out from the doctor that there was no baby as LI Bao was not pregnant.

Lan Tian was being blackmailed by the paparazzi, Li Bao and by his very own father that he finally owned up to Cha Cha that it was him who gauded her brother to a swimming contest on rather high current water.

Obviously, Cha Cha was upset.

Episode 42

Cha Cha forgave Lan Tian for what the role he played in her brother’s accidental drowning.  She reckon that Lan Tian had been there almost throughout her life, cutting him off now would mean a part of her life would vanish.

They are quite chummy again and Lan Tian was even teaching Cha Cha how to get used to water and swim.

This turn of event did not go unnoticed by Yong Ze, who is becoming sadder and sadder being saddled by a baby and Li Bao.

Lan Xin was so naughty.  She connived with Li Bao to not reveal her not being pregnant.

Episode 43

Li Bao has been found out.

Lan Xin had an attack of conscience when Yong Ze had to live the resort and swimming to start over with Li Bao who pretended that she lost the baby and was very sad.

Lan Xin blurted out that Li Bao did not miscarry as she was never pregnant.

While this was going on Cha Cha was on her way to the airport to leave the place.

Episode 44

Yong Che raised to the airport to bring Cha Cha back.  He asked her if their deal can still be in place, which is if he wins the national swimming, he’ll ask her to marry him.  Cha Cha was all in agreement.

Lan Xin has been fired by her father from the resort because she won’t give up gorgeous Jiao Lian.

Jiao Lian told Lan Xin not to panic as he will look after her from now on.  He doesn’t have much money but he will care for her.

Lan Tian came to the rescue and hired her back as he actually owns the resort.

Episode 45

Lan Tian’s dad can’t be easily thwarted so he hired the one-light-eyed man to ensure that Yong Ze pull out from the swimming contest to pave the way for Lan Tian’s winning the national swimming contest.

They connive to kidnap Yong Ze’s father to force Yong ze to not participate in the contest.

But Yong ze father was able to send a quick message saying that whatever happens he must enter the contest and do his best.

Episode 46

Yong Ze’s father was finally rescued by the police.  His father finally realised how much he was letting down his son so he called a press conference and confessed to all his misdemeanours that he was involved in kidnapping, money laundering and many more.

Yong ze won the nationals with Lan Tian as second.

Three years later…

Lan Tian has decided to spread his wings and start a business in America.

Cha Cha has her own healthy food restaurant.

Li Bao has a son after getting married when she realised that a relationship with Yong Ze was a lost cause.

Yong Ze won the gold medal at the Olympics and as he has always promised Cha Cha, he would ask her to marry him and he did.

Cha Cha said yes of course but wanted to wait as she would like to add branches to her business but Yong Ze manfully and sexily said that the only thing she would be adding was a baby to their family.

The End
