I love this drama because the lead male showed that he was more than interested in the lead girl.
Episode 4
Zhou Xiao applied to started her investigation/detective club. When she went to find out if it had been approved, Fan Zhou said that in theory yes but she had to comply to other criteria such as having no less than 5 members to her club.
He challenged her to find all 5 members within half an hour as she bragged that she can do but some of her contacts/ friends were out.
Fan Zhou told her that not to bother.
She was rather indignant but he said that he will be the fifth member.
She later noticed that he seemed to be stalking her. Fan Zhou was everywhere she goes. It got so bad she thought that she confronted him in the library only to find out that he was working part-time in the library.
Fan Zhou called her to say that the club had been approved.
He was telling her that he liked her in a very subtle manner but she was just too dense. He said to save his number on her but she said there was no need but he said “you should as regards to Detective Club activity.
Zhu lu and Tao Ling were telling her that Cai Ya Shi likes her.
Zhou Xiao said she knew. He likes her money.
Zhou Xiao suspected that she was being stalked. She was so scared, she got trapped in the elevator.
It was Fan Zhou who had come to rescue her.

Zhou Xiao was so grateful to Fan Zhou for rescuing her, she promised him to treat him to a meal.
Fan Zhou was only too happy to go on a ‘date’ with her so he chose a rather fancy restaurant not suitable to a student allowance.
She tried to choose what she thought was the cheapest but it ended up as the most expensive as it was an specialty. She mistakenly ordered a gourmet dish of shirako. Fan Zhou was there cagey when she asked him why shirako was so expensive, she found out the it was sperm sac of fish.
Fan Zhou had given the key to the Detective Club official HQ to the ecstatic Zhou Xiao. She started imagining what she was going to do with the space allotted to their club when Yechin appeared.
Yichen wanted to join the club but both Zhou Xiao and Fan Zhou knew that she was high maintenance so they told her that the membership was full.
Anyway Yichen was not giving up so easily on Fan Zhou. She went to see Zhou Xiao again to tell her why Fan Zhou was rather cold towards her.
Yichen said that she and Fan Zhou was very close at one time but her mother did not want her to have anything to do with Fan Zhou, whose mother was bipolar who was prone to create hysterical scenes. Yichen it was because of her mother.
Fan Zhou overheard this and more when Zhou Xiao told off Yichen for telling her a private thing between her and Fan Zhou. She also said to stop blaming her mother. She was Fan Zhou’s friend. Why did she not stood up for Fan Zhou when her mother was being rude to Fan Zhou?
It was the first activity of the Detective Club. Everyone was there except for Chen Yu, who Zhu Lu invited but Yi Xing turned up instead.
Episode 6
The game started with the blind-folded members looking for clues to get to the secret chambers.
Fan Zhou was finding it easy as if he could read Zhou Xiao’s mind.
In the end he got to finish the task before everyone else and found Zhou Xiao’s next to the lab. She said she was going to play a dead body but the lab was locked.
Anyway, Fan Zhou allowed her to get into the lab and she looked everywhere. Fan Zhou said that they had to leave because they were not really allowed to be there,
Zhou Xiao said that she would like him to grant her wish and that was to wear a lab coat and take a selfie.
She just had finished her selfie talking when the security guard turned up. They had to hide quickly together and Fan Zhou ended up accidentally kissing her in the forehead.
Poor Fan Zhou was totally in love. His classes started to get affected because he was always thinking of Zhou Xiao. He even asked a girl to change desk with him as he wanted to be the window that overlooks the classroom where Zhou Xiao and roommates were.
Instead of listening to the lecture, Fan Zhou was looking and giggling at the antics of Zhou Xiao. He was there waiting for her and even bought her the latest copy of the book of her favourite author. He just can’t do enough for her. He even took her shopping which ended up hilarious and rather romantic when the cord to his hoodie got caught in a storage cubicle.
Meanwhile Yi Xing fell truly in love with Zhu Lu when he saw her wearing an empire style dress, neoclassical, complete with ringlets fashionable in the latter part of the 18th century. It was a painting coming to life as part of her art project.
Episode 7
Xiying was jealous that Zhu Lu has an obvious crush on Chen Yu. He was doing everything to impress her.
Meanwhile. at the Forensic Science lab, the professor was almost disappointed that Fan Zhou was so advanced in his studies that he felt redundant. Anyway, he told fan Zhou he should be out there chasing girl rather than being always studying or experimenting.
The Professor was a fan of Xiao’s novel and had agreed to be her consultant for the forensic bit on her novel.
Anyway, she interrupted the Professor telling Fan Zhou off from over-studying. 🙂 Xiao wanted to barrow a skeleton to decorate her dorm room for the contest.
The Professor realised that far from Fan Zhou not interested in girls, Fan Zhou was actually very interested in Xiao so he did everything to help Fan Zhou.
The Professor knew but Xiao doesn’t but she did ask why Fan Zhou was particularly kind to her.
Fan Zhou asked her what she thinks was the reason.
She said that it was to apologise to her for accidentally kissing her in the lab.
Xiao was just too dense, she can see he was doing everything to show her how much he likes her but she ignores the little romantic details.
To get even nearer to her, he told her that there was an assistant vacancy at the library and would like to talk to her about it.
Meanwhile, Cai Ya Shi was missing all the opportunities to declare or show his feelings to Xiao. He was advised by his friend to get in there with Xiao before it was too late.
So Cai Ya Shi dragged Xiao away from the lab and Fan Zhou when she was returning the skeleton. Cai Ya Shi took her to a cafe/restaurant and was getting really to confess but it just wouldn’t come out naturally.
In the end, he did not confess but asked Xiao for money.
Episode 8
Jia Junting applied for the library assistant as well and learned that Fan Zhou had recommended Xiao for the position.
When she asked Fan Zhou why he did not recommend her and yet he did with Xiao.
He quickly told her “Because I like her.”
And Xiao got the job in the library.
Fan Zhou was asked to be the doctor for the Badminton team which was having a tournament. Fan Zhou turned down the offer from Chen Yu. But when he learned that Xiao was going to watch the game, Fan Zhou also turned up and told Chen Yu he will be the temporary doctor.
Fan Zhou spent most of the time starring at a very excited Xiao, who was watching Zhu Lu doing well in her Single Female Badminton contest.
Zhu Lu was doing really well but she had an accident and she ended up twisting her ankle and eventually losing the game.
Chen Yu won the mixed double and was going to play the Single Male but Yi Xing stopped him and played himself.
Despite a sore shoulder, Yi Xing daily easily won the game. So the Nanfang University won the tournament.
The 100th anniversary of Nanfang University was forthcoming and each club had to present a show otherwise those who won’t be joining will be disbanded.
Xiao was quite worried about this wan did not know what to do or what to present. She called both Cai Ya Shi and Fan Zhou to the meeting room.
Fan Zhou at that moment was with the Student Council, who will be in charge of the anniversary celebration. As soon as Fan Zhou saw the message from Xiao, he cut the student council meeting and went to the Detective Club.
He did not like what he saw because Cai Ya Shi was hugging Xiao’s arm tightly while they watched a horror film. He immediately told Xiao to leave with him as they had overtime in the library.
Episode 9
It was the 100th Anniversary of the Uni. Xiao managed to cobble up together a team to perform for the Detective Team. She found out that her roommate Luo Wei was a bit of a revelation. She dances like one of those in a girl group. So she recruited Zhu Lu and Tao Ling plus Luo Wei to do a dance with her.
It was popular with their audience.
Then, Cai Ya Shi made a speech in which he finished with a confession of his feelings for Xiao.
Xiao was so annoyed with Cai Ya Shi. She did not take him seriously. It turned out that they had long history of him pretending that he was in love with her or she was his girlfriend to make other girls jealous and then he can get them. She has always been just a bait for him for other girls.
No matter how much he explained that what he said was the truth that he likes her, she would not listen.
Their conversation was overheard by a somewhat happy Fan Zhou.
Episode 10
Fan Zhou decided to up his game by reading a book on the Psychology of Love. He was confused about the many advices. He tried to use them all to beguile Xiao but it was not working.
The two were working in the library where they were tasked to photocopy a book. The task was laborious and took hours into the night.
They were locked in and had to spend the night together.
Episode 11
Cai Ya Shi invited Xiao to see the Detective exhibition. She was really glad to go. The tickets were well subscribed so it was hard to get them.
Meanwhile, Fan Zhou had asked around to get him tickets to the exhibition as well. He asked Yi Xing to get them from his connection and within 30 minutes, he got the tickets.
When he asked Xiao to go with him, she turned him down because she was already going with Cai Ya Shi.
The day of the exhibition, Fan Zhou found Xiao at the bus stop and said he was going to send a research note document so he will go partway with her.
Cai Ya Shi’s professor called her to say that Cai Ya Shi was not allowed to get out the dormitory because they were all under study lockdown.
Fan Zhou overheard this and was only too happy to step in in Cai Ya Shi’s shoes.
They had fun walking around the mini-museum showing Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson.
Poor Cai Ya Shi did manage to get away from his teacher, helped by his classmates.
He found Xiao at the museum and with her was Fan Zhou.
Episode 12
After their museum jaunt, they returned to Nanfang University where the gangs were waiting for them. They gathered together to watch a meteor shower.
Jialing turned up as well and tried to monopolise Fan Zhou.
Xiao was not very happy about it which was noticed by Cai Ya Shi.
Cai Ya Shi was resigned and cried himself out knowing that he had now lost Xiao to Fan Zhou. He was crying alone while the rest were excitedly watching the meteor shower.
It was the New Year/Spring Festival, Xiao went back home to mommy and daddy.
After a month, she got a text from Fan Zhou that he will come to get her at the station.
She was excited about it but did not know how to reply to Fan Zhou.
So she thought she should asked advise from her friends from the dorm.
The text she sent was very honest and rather cute, saying that she wanted to see Fan Zhou but does not know hot to reply to his text, at what context because she goes all nervous, her heart starts beating faster when she was around him.
The text was mistakenly sent to Fan Zhou himself and he was happy about it.
Zhu Lu had told her friends that she was going to confess to Chen Yu.
