Episode 1
Su Xiao Wan is a sixteen-year-old girl. She is an orphan with a brother to look after. She worked as a flower seller.
Her brother has a medical problem. His legs were hurt when he fell during a time they were gathering herbs. And that was a year ago.
They sought medical help but it was proving difficult to find someone who has a cure for her brother’s condition.
They ended up in Linan City but getting a number for an appointment to see a doctor was near impossible.
In desperation, Xiao Wan pretended that she had fainted due to a mysterious disease.
It so happened that Gu Yan Xi was on his way to see the doctor to consult on the latest condition of his beloved grandmother.
Yan Xi knew that Xiao Wan was faking and so did the doctor, who was kind enough to give her a number. He explained to Yan Xi that she must be so desperate to pretend to be ill.
Anyway, Yan Xi somehow ended with her number stick in his pocket.
Xiao Wan at the dead of the night trespass in the Gu Mansion to look for that prized number stick.
She happened to meet another ninja, all dressed in black. She did not know that he was the younger brother of the Gu Mansion. Instead, she mistook him for a burglar, just like her.
She liked him at first sight and it seemed mutual.
She did manage to get the number stick in the end from Yan Xi and brought her brother to the doctor, who said that there is no medication that can be prescribed but there might be something in their old Chinese medical scripture for it.
Yan Xi got a better paying job than just selling flowers. She was able to secure a servant position at the Gu Mansion.
She topped the test but would have been dismissed immediately because Yan Xi was conducting the final inspection of the winning servant candidates.
Xiao Wan worked very hard as a housemaid/gardener and yet Yan Xi was still determined to dismiss her until she happened to bump into an old lady who welcomed her excitedly as the long lost Wan’er, sister to the Gu Brothers.
Yan Xi cannot fire her because his grandma would have been upset but it doesn’t mean he can’t make it hard for her to stay.
Meanwhile, at the back of her mind, Xiao Wan seemed to remember a boy that she had a childhood ritual wedding with. A jade token was part of their game and Xiao Wan just seen a jade that looks like the one in her childhood. The jade belongs to Gu Zhi Zhao.
Episode 2
To monitor Xiao Wan closer, Yan Xi engaged her as his personal maid. He worked her like a horse but she did everything enthusiastically and quickly that he did develop a bit of respect for her until she drooled on her sleep on his ‘coat’ he draped on her.
Apparently, Xiao Wan is suffering from childhood trauma for the loss of his mother. Because of this he developed amnesia. He has forgotten his childhood, he gave his most treasured possession to his half-brother, Gu Zhi Zhao.
So it looks like Yan Xi was the childhood ‘playmate/husband’ of Xiao Wan after all.
Episode 3
Yan Xi saved Xiao Wan from bandits.
Xiao Wan had a date with Gu Zhi Zhao but Yan Xi would not let her leave her tasks. He found that she was quite good with bookkeeping.
Episode 4
Xiao Wan arranged to meet Gu Zhi Zhao to make up for their non-date the previous date. She told him to meet up in front of the restaurant.
She was just leaving the manor when Gu Yan Xi saw her.
She told him that it was her day-off so she will be going out.
Yan Xi told her that he was going out too and he wanted her to go with him to the temple.
Without much choice, she tried to let Gu Zhi Zhao she could not make it but the problem was not she did not know yet his real name or who he really was.
Anyway, after praying at the temple, they left immediately but became a victim of bandits.
Apparently, this was all a set-up by Yanxi and made himself as a decoy, because the soldiers were there to arrest all the bandits.
Episode 5
They went back to the carriage. On their way home, Xiao Wan realised that she was crushing on Yan Xi.
The other servant became jealous of her perceived closeness with the master of the manor they started bullying.
The worst was kidnapping her and leaving her in an abandoned part of the manor which no one goes to anymore.
But Yanxi found out about it and went to the rescue but he got trapped with her as well. They went to look for another way out.
Xiao Wan was all excited when he held her hands while walking together.
Her heart started thumping and was thinking that probably she had fallen in love with him just like what Gu Zhi Zhao said that when you see someone you like your heart will pound strongly.
Episode 6
Xiao Wan found out who Gu Zhi Zhao really was. He said that he did not mean to deceive her but Xiao Wan easily forgave him because she was intrigued to find out that the original jade owner was Yanxi who gave it to Zhi Zhao.
Xiao Wan was already imagining that she and Yanxi were fated.
Episode 7
Zhi zhao was desperate to play cuju but his mother would not allow him. Instead, she locked him up in his bedroom.
Xiao Wan took it upon herself to rescue Zhi Zhao. She sneaked into his room and told him to dress up like one of their maids as camouflage.
Zhizhao enjoyed himself but not for long because when he was returning back to the manor with Xiao Wan, his mother was waiting for him. He had him locked up again while she ordered Xiao Wan to be paddled 20 times.
Even the servant who was beating Xiao Wan warned the madam that if they continue paddling the girl, she will die.
The madam did not care and ordered the man to continue but Yanxi turned up and immediately picked Xiao Wan.
His stepmother stopped him but he told her that he was the young master of the manor.
But still she asked why was he so protective of a mere servant.
He told her that Xiao Wan is no servant, she was Gu Wan’er!
