It looks like Mirae did not only had plastic surgery on her face, they had also do something on her brain.
From Straight-A student, she became stupid.
Episode 4
Mirae got so depressed about her looks during middle school. It got too much for her so she thought she should end her life. It was Na Hye Sung who saved her, the one who talked her out of killing herself.
Na Hye Sung is the stranged mother of Do Kyung Suk.
Na Hye Sung had developed a rapport with Mirae who found out about Na Hye Sung being the mother of Do Kyung Suk. She asked Mirae to be her go-between with her son.
Episode 5 – 16
This drama talks about the downside of being beautiful. Being beautiful is very stressful because apparently, you have to continuously work on your appearance. 😜
Like Soo Ah, for instance, she was bulimic because each time she eats, she would then secretly make herself gag and throw up the food she had, and then she was pill-popping as well to maintain her weight.
Mi Rae understood this because she said that Soo Ah is quite petite so she would gain weight easier while Mi Rae could eat and drink like a horse and would any extra pounds would just be distributed in her tall frame.
The girls are often subjected to harassment comparing their looks against one another, there are also some perverts who take secret photos of girls under their skirts or legs.
There was a scene where their department was hosting a drink-up carnival. The girls were made to dress in skimpy skirts and rather low tops.
The girls were shown feeling uncomfortable with the mini-skirts which doesn’t really make sense because throughout the drama the female lead especially was wearing short shorts, way shorter than the mini skirt!!!
The Mi Rae who is top-notched in high school back when she looked ‘hideous’ was not that great in college when she had plastic surgery.
It seems to say that it is either beauty or brain and not beauty and brain.
This drama is pontificating about plastic surgery that in the long run, it will not make you happy. In fact, it made Mi Rae so stressed that she was always on tenterhooks waiting to find out that she had plastic surgery.
Her stress does not sense at all afterall plastic surgery was prevalent and a name had been coined for people who had undergone the knife. They are called Gangnam Beauty.
I am not sure how to explain it but it is like an out-of-body experience watching it, because it is so surreal.
