Episode 1

The drama started a thousand years ago when there were demons and fairies.

Someone looking like Hua Yi Nan was having a duel with Song Yan over someone looking like Yue’er.

Hua Yi Nan and Song Yan were falling into the ravine when Yue’er lookalike saved Yinan who was on the point of death.

Yue’er gave her spirit to save Yinan’s soul so he could reincarnate one day.  She told him to find her she disintegrated.

One thousand years’ later…

The real Yue’er is now living a Cinderella life.

She had a wicked stepmother, a weak and sickly father, and a stepsister.  She was living a life of drudgery and that was not enough misfortune, she seemed to have a terminal illness.

But the Island Master wanted to marry her,  He was the real Yinan and he had been courting Yue’er for two months and had proposed to her 37 times but she turned him down every time.

Her family was cash strapped, so her stepmother was forcing her to marry Mr Chang a rich tailor but so old, he was older than her father.

She told Mr Chang that if she marries him, she will die before him as she was very ill.  Mr Chang had a change of heart.

But then Yinan turned up with the matchmaker with a chest upon chest of dowries of gold, silver, and gems.

Still Yue’er turned down the offer of marriage from Yinan.

She was in the kitchen of their restaurant when she was told her stepmother and father had been arrested for non-payment of debt.

The only person she trust was Du Ruo but he had been put under house arrest because his family does not want him to have anything to do with Yue’er who had a bit of a reputation of being a jinx.

Episode 2

Yue’er and Yinan were in a carriage when they accidentally kissed.  Yue’er felt her weak heart thumping strongly.

Yinan told her that she also liked him.

Yue’er was half-convinced so she tried to double-check that her heartbeat does go hyperdrive by kissing him.

She realised that kissing him made her giddy.

Meanwhile, Du Rou got away from his family and went directly to Yue’er.  He tried to kiss her to convince her that kissing him will also make her heart beat faster.

Yue’er was not keen to kiss him.

Later on, Yue’er got a message from Du Rou’s father telling him that he had found a physician that could cure her illness.  The father’s condition was that Yue’er must not tell Du Rou about it.

Yue’er did not tell Du Rou but she blabbed it to Yinan after kissing once again on the very spot where they were together as their other selves one thousand years ago.

Episode 3 – 4

The Island Master had Yue’er family staying with him.  He got the best physician to look after Yue’er’s father.

But then Yue’er’s gambling-addicted stepmother together with her stepsister went to rob the place but got caught.  Yue’er was so embarrassed.

So she can’t really agree to a be together with him but instead she left to find the doctor that could cure her illness.

She was just on the pier when she was kidnapped by bandit traffickers.

Su Tang was also kidnapped by the traffickers.

The Island Master was informed and did not wait to save Yue’er.

Su Tang saw how much frightened the Island Master for Yue’er and only gave a cursory look.

The bandits almost overpowered the Island Master who used his body to protect Yue’er.

They then protected each other when it looked like the end was near.

But a bolt of energy came down from the heavens and protected them.

When they woke up they were both safe at the Island Master’s mansion;

There was a bit of an issue with Yue’er’s father’s prescription.  A poison was included to it which Du Ruo used to malign the Island Master.

Yue’er slapped the Island Master.

The Island Master called the Palace physician who explained that a poison is necessary to make the medication work as it is her father was completely cured.

Yue’er was so ashamed and as if the Island Master’s cheek was hurting a lot.  She then told him that she was no longer be going to the Capital because she will be getting married.

The Island Master was confused so she told him that he kept asking her to get married and now she was ready.  Aww

Apparently the Island Master had wanted to marry Yue’er because it was his father’s wish.  His father was in love with Yue’er’s mother but they did not end up together so the next best thing is for his son to marry the daughter of his crush. 😭

Yue’er was talking with her father who told her that he married her mother 20 years ago but felt he did not provide well for her.  He then told Yue’er about a tradition of Bride Kidnapping, where someone tries to stop the wedding but it is all in good faith.  If the bride is determined to marry her groom then she had to give a cup of tea to her kidnapper to signal that she was not willing to be kidnapped.

This happened on her wedding day, Du Ruo interupted the final bow by reminding Yue’er that they did once promise to marry each other when they were seven years old.  He had always though of doing just that.

Yue’er smiled throughout Du Ruo’s pained confession because she thought that he was doing a bride kidnapping which is a symbol that the bride is noble and valuable.

She turned him down with a cup of tea.

Then the Island Master took Yue’er to the bed chamber.

Poor Du Ruo is as sad as Su Tang.

Episode 5

Yue’er and the Island Master’s first night was a non-starter.

Yue’er told him that she was willing but she was having a period.

Yinan understood.  He said that as long as she was beside him, all is well in his world.  He then gave her his mother’s phoenix hairpin but was telling her everything about it but he bored her to sleep.

Song Yan had been drawing a tree from a memory he cannot explain.

Yue’er’s friend visited her.  Yue’er showed Yi, her friend her new jewelries given to her by Yinan.  She told Yi to choose something as she could not really wear them all.

Yi chose the Phoenix hairpin and Yue’er gave it to her and even helped to put it on Yi’s hair.

Yinan came to see her and went ballistic when he saw the phoenix hairpin on someone else’s head.

When Yi was gone, Yue’er scolded the irate Yinan why give her jewels when he doesn’t want her to do what she likes with them.

He said that she gifted them to her and he did not realise they don’t matter to her.  He then asked if she really loves him at all.

Yue’er honestly said that she doesn’t think so.  She was just so grateful to him for what he had done to her father.

She later saw Yuman who asked her where her phoenix pin was?  She warned her not to lose it as it is the most important thing for Yinan as it was inherited from their mother.

Now Yue’er understood why Yinan was upset.  He was drunk and with Su Tang when she saw him.

Later on, she told Yinan that it was ok with her if he takes Su Tang as his concubine or even his legal wife and Yue’er would be happy to be the concubine.

Now Yinan was pissed, so pissed that he told his guard to tell Yue’er that he will be sleeping in another room.

Episode 6

Yuman found out that Yinan and Yue’er had not consummated their marriage yet or either Yue’er was not a virgin when she married Yinan.

Yue’er told Yuman that they had not done it.

Yuman told her that Yue’er is married to the Island Master.  They would need an heir.

Yue’er totally understood and agreed with Yuman who told her some secrets on how to seduce her husband.

After making him ginseng soup, Yue’er dance the seven veils for Yinan who was in between laughter and being seduced.

But Yue’er was determined so Yinan gave in but he started having a nose bleed.

Yue’er was so alarmed she screamed her head off for help.

Yuman was there in a second and scolded both Yue’er and Yinan.

Later on she asked her brother if he had problem getting it up😭 or perhaps there was truth in the rumour that he was gay?

Yinan was annoyed with her and told her to butt out of his marriage.

Yinan was given a will made his father that says after his marriage to Yue’er, she needs to sign the cheque for financial outgoings and withdrawals.
