Episode 1

This drama is a time travel drama from, Republican China to the 21st century.

I have to admit that I struggled to continue on during the first fifteen minutes of this drama because of the tropes and how stupid and ineffectual the lead girl was.

The lead girl is Jin A Yin who was a struggling ghostwriter.  She was so strapped for cash, she can’t pay her rent.

Then one day, she saw a woman who owed her money.  This woman was tall and quite hefty but she was wearing high heels.

Ayin chased her all over the street and the woman in high heels run faster than Ayin who was wearing trainers. Seriously?!!!

Not only the woman was faster but Ayin in her flat shoes stumbled as well.  They ended up in a warehouse where Ayin finally cornered the woman.  Ayin locked them inside the warehouse but the woman managed to get the key from Ayin.

Here, the woman managed to get the key from Ayin and was able to open and undo the lock in a second.  Seriously?!!!

Anyway, the woman locked Ayin in while she went away.

Stupid Ayin noticed the papers and posters inside the warehouse.  It was about the great actor of the 1930s, Qiang Xin Yu.  Ayin had loved watching his film when her father bought the old reels in a junkshop,

Meanwhile, in 1936, Qiang Xin Yu was a popular actor who co-owns a studio called Mengshang (whatever). He was shooting one day when his prizes tie pin got lost.  It was not his day because while doing his own stunt, someone shut him in the hip area.  The assailant was a masked shooter who turned out to be Ayin’s replica.

Anyway, when Xin Yu woke up, he was inside Ayin’s dark apartment as there was a power cut.

There was another version of Xin Yu in the 21st century who was murdered by his jealous actor friend after Xin Yu’s doppelganger got offered the role of Xin Yu in a biographical film.
