We watched this film today.
I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is classic gothic horror, complete with the posh British accent from most of the cast.
It is well paced, mysterious, and rather exciting.
Lead girl, Nathalie is so pretty and feisty while Thomas Doherty is racking a Sean Connery a la James Bond look.
Anyway, Evie recently lost her mother to cancer. She now lives alone in America, with no relatives whatsoever. She got a mysterious gift for her birthday. It was an invitation to look into her DNA.
Encouraged by her friend, Grace, Evie sent her DNA specimen.
She did not have to wait for the result. She found out that she had many relatives in England and one of them, Oliver, wanted to meet up.
Evie went to meet him in a restaurant and found him affable and fun. He then invited her to a family wedding to be held in England.
Oliver told her that their relatives are agog to meet her.
As it was a free holiday and a chance to see other relatives, Evie tagged along with Oliver. She was gobsmacked to find that he took her to a storybook-like mansion.
And here begins an extraordinary experience she wish she did not go through.
