Episode 1
This is a slapstick comedy.
It was workers’ life at Gaofe Technology.
The chairman introduced a new tech office chair which is called the healthy chair. Its functionality includes reminding those who sit on it not to cross their legs as it is not healthy which was good but it also records how long an employee/sitter had been asleep while on the chair, which is not popular with those who like to sleep on the job like Director Zheng Zheng Hao.
Another day at the office. It was the first day of LI Tian Ran’s promotion. He was so excited to arrive at the office that he made a new employee go around and around the revolving door.
But then it quickly got around that the new employee was the nephew of the chairman. The new boy is Bai Ma Shuai who is so confident and friendly that he was able to mingle and have selfies with the chairman and directors.
Li Tian Ran was a bit wary of him as he thought Ma Shuai has the ear of the high-ups. Later on, Ma Shuai told Tian Ran that he was just an ordinary employee.
The Director officially announced Li Tian Ran’s promotion but not what he expected and hoped. He was promoted to Deputy Leader because the Team Leadership was given to Fan Si Si.
Tian Ran was so disappointed.
Episode 2
Fan Si Si found out that being the Team Leader or joining the Planning Department was not really for her.
All she wanted was a NineToFive job, to go home, and chill after work. Instead, her line manager required the staff to go to dinner every night after work which is proving too expensive for her when she wanted to be independent of her parents.
She decided that it was better to be transferred back to the Advertising Department.
She started to behave like a diva at work, arriving late. She even stole Tian Ran’s rejected idea and presented it as her own. To her shock and Tian Ran’s the idea was a hit.
Later on, Fan Si Si was surprised that Tian Ran was her next-door neighbour.
BTW, the machine tech highlighted for this episode is the brain wave typist. The creator was so upset about how others saw his new invention. He was using it when the manager saw him. The manager saw all the expletives and what the inventor really thought about him on the screen of computer.
Episode 3
Ma Shuai was looking at the new logo of the Gaofa Techonology Planning Department which took a year and lots of money for a foreign designer to conceptualise. The CEO was confused because there was not much difference from the original. But apparently, the designer had taken out capitalism from the original logo by using a lowercase f to make it people-friendly. Loved this gobbledygook explanation.
I am really starting to enjoy this drama.
Anyway, Tian Ran decided that he would teach everything he knew to Ma Shuai so that he will be the best intern ever.
Ma Shuai though takes everything literally but he has a kind heart and really loaded as well.
When they went to a seminar, they were upgraded to first class and stayed at Ma Shuai’s uncle’s hotel so they saved money.
When they got back to work the next day, Ma Shuai was chauffer driven in Bentley. Ma Shuai noticed that people sort of shun him. Tian Ran told him that the manager does not want a subornate driving a better car than him. The next day, Ma Shuai was driven in a very small car. The manager was friendlier but Tian Ran had just to shake his head because even if the car is cheap, it is still driven by a chauffer with white gloves.
Ma Shuai, Tian Ran and Director Ji went golfing. Tian Ran nostalgically said that his father gave his a golf ball as a birthday present when he was a boy. He then asked what a rich kid got for his birthday.
Ma Shuai said that he was given a set of golf clubs but really he was just being modest because the golf course they were playing was his. It is called BaiMa.
Episode 4
Director Zheng said that they should have a departmental marathon weekend. So it was announced that everyone had to join.
Tian Ran was not interested but Mr Ji said that he must because it was the time to network for promotion.
Even Mr Ji in crutches with sore ankle will go to the marathon so Tian Ran was forced to go.
Everyone was indulging Director Zheng. They were all kissassing Director Zheng but Tian Ran was lying low. But when Director Zheng said that there is a prize money of 5,000 for the winner of the marathon, Tian Ran ran like mad. He was there to win.
Another guy run after him and told him that they should let Director Zheng win but Tian Ran was deaf to it.
Even though Tian Ran was the first to finish the race, he was ignored. Director Zheng was declared the winner.
The machine highlighted was a running machine. The inventor said that you could take the machine outside. As you run on the machine, it will run. Of course, it was another fail.
