Episode 1
I love this drama already. The cast it great,
Haicheng 2001
Whoa, what a shocking start. A doctor jumped off the hospital building clutching a notebook about boundless medicine.
One of the first one to see the fallen body was a boy who was by the picket line. Was the boy the dead doctor’s son?
Fastforward to the present time…
Zheng Ren walked into Haicheng Hospital and into an emergency where he had to perform a heart surgery inside an elevator on a patient on his way to the ER. He opened the chest of the patient and had to phyically massage the heart to start it pumping again.
The doctors were intrigued by the newcomer.
Zheng Ren was brought in to Haicheng especially by one of the founders of the hospital, Bu Rou Tian.
Bu Rou Tian wass Zheng Ren’s former teacher. Bu Rou Tian wanted his excellent student to operate on his pancreatic cancer.
They agreed on it but on the day of the operation, a Western doctor, Dr Reinier was especially brought to the hospital by Su Li, the hospital president and also the wife of Bu Rou Tian.
Bo Rou Tian was unaware of the development until it was too late for him to complain.
Dr Reinier found out that the cancer was more complicated that the scan he was shown so he walked out of the operating room,
Zheng Ren saw what happened and determined to keep Bu Rou Tian alive as he was the only one that could tell him what happened to his father.
He suited up and successfully operated of Bu Rou Tian.
When Su Li apologised to Zheng Ren later, Zheng Ren could not accept her apology with grace after she confirmed that the scan she was holding as extremely reliable despite Zheng Ren telling her that it does not tally with what he observed that his wrong with Bu Rou Tian was not really reliable and she knew it from the onset. She said that if she had admitted it, Dr Reiner would have not come to the country to operate as it was too complicated.
Zheng Ren berrated her for her irresponsibility.
Meanwhile, Su Yun, a relative of Su Li was rather jealous that Zheng Ren had been made the head of the Interventional Department.
Episode 2
Bu Rou Tian woke up from his surgery a changed man. He asked Su Li for a divorce. He told her that most of his life had been devoted to medicine. He had no time for himself, he never had a drink, he was deprived of their lost child, his life was almost 24/7 hospital and yet it had been many years since he actually done any surgery because he had turned into a pen-pushing director of a hospital.
Su Li knew that she can’t change Dr Bu’s mind so she instructed her lawyer to get the maximum benefit for her because if Dr Bu does not want Haicheng Hospital, she will take it.
It looks like Haicheng Hospital might really changed its original ethos of being for the patients rather a money making institution. Su Li wanted money, money, lots of money so when a hospital cleaner who threatened to commit suicide due tot he recurrence of her cancer which was operated at Haicheng the previous year, Su Li discouraged the staff to further treat the woman.
Zheng Ren had other ideas though.
And he was supported by Su Yun who was developing a kind of respect for Zheng Ren.
It is a good story but there are some scenes that hard to make sense of. Like when the cleaner was trying to jump from the hospital rooftop, most of the medical staff went running to the rooftop. Who were looking after the patients?!!🤣🤣🤣
Episode 3
Su Li signed the divorce paper.
Meanwhile, Zheng Ren started trying to locate the tumour on the cleaner. It was so hidden that all the other doctors who were watching what was going on began to tell Zheng Ren to stop. After a third try, he did find the tumour.
The next case was a conjoined twin that needed separating.
Su Li wanted the case to be transferred out as it was too costly with 20 surgeon involved in the surgery.
Zheng Ren made Su Li feel guilty for being a money grabbing director.
