Review & Summary
The film is watchable. It has the feel of Tom Cruise’s Top Gun especially with the rivalry between Lei Yu and Deng Fang.
Anyway, it started with a Chinese oil rig targeted by American stealth fighter jets. Probably this was set in around the controversial Pagasa Island which is inside the demarcation of the Philippines but the Chinese was taking over it. As this is the case, the Americans was joining the furore.
Anyway, Lei Yu and his comrade came into the rescue with their fighter jets. It was a tense air acrobatics but young Lei Yu was able to shoo away the Americans.
But he had to pay for his derring-do as his jet engines caught fire. But he was lucky because Commander Zhang, the test pilot extraordinaire was at the Air Traffic Control and can see what was happening. With precision, he guilded Lei Yu back to land.
Instead of hailing Lei Yu as a hero later on my the aviation officials, they told him off for miss using their plane against a mammoth fourth generation stealth fighter jet of the Americans.
Commander Zhang came to Lei Yu’s defence and castigated the officials. Lei Yu did good for the country despite being on a third generation which was substandard fighting jet.
The officials started talking about it and said that China was falling behind by most countries have sent their fourth generations which have been flying around China’s airspace.
A general said that their own fourth generation was in the works. Their Taishan engine is currently being honed.
Anyway, Commander Zhang recruited the best young pilots to test their old, current and future planes. One he recruited especially was Lei Yu who does not only love loving flying but love the engines and designs.
He was on the way to the barracks when he became starstruck by a plane overheard, flying away from a sandstorm. He was so impressed by the pilot and found out later that it was Commander Zhang.
At the barracks, Lei Yu met his fellow stalwart young pilots including his number one rival Deng Fang.
He used to defeat Deng Fang but now Deng Fang was leading the group because of his strength and power.
The movie is really good.
