Episode 1 & 2
I was excited to start this drama because of its predecessor’s Do Bong Soon, which I enjoyed tremendously.
Well, the first episode of this new drama is so good. Very entertaining but I have to admit it went down hill immediately by episode 2.
They’ve introduced characters that are so boring, it dragged the narrative down. And also some scenes and progression does not makes sense since social media is a powerful tool. Everyone now knows everything🤣
The story so far which has some contradictions with the original Do Bong Soon was that for the last five hundred years, the female line of this clan has superpowers. It has something to do with a disorder in their X-Chromosomes. They can only use their power for good.
Anyway, in episode 1, Hwang Geum Joo was a feisty woman who goes for what she wanted. She is a self made billionaire because of her strength, her aptitude and her singlemindedness. She was able to grow her business in no time at all and when she wanted a baby, a baby girl preferably, she picked a guy who was her previous accountant and made him her househusband but as a sweetener, she told him that he could indulge his passion for photography.
Anyway, they married, they had Namsoon and also a boy which was never mentioned at first as he was completely overshadowed by Namsoon, who even as a baby showed stupendous power.
Hwang Geum Joo was busy at work and her spare time was spent in some vigilante business as a Batman/Catwoman, righting the wrongs for the displaced and the dispossessed.
Anyway, Kang Bong Go, the husband went with the young Namsoon to Mongolia to photograph the vast land. But as bad luck would have it, Kang Bong Go lost Namsoon.
Despite extensive search, Namsoon was never found.
Namsoon was brought by a horse called Ppappa to a couple in the deep of Mongolia. Namsoon became a much loved daughter of the couple but they knew she would leave them one day. They were fine with it and encouraged her to do it. And when Namsoon was 22, the couple sold all their sheep to give the money to Namsoon.
Meanwhile, Hwang Geum Joo, started searching for Namsoon again and held a contest for the strongest girls. From the contest, they found Ri Hwa Ja, who Hwang Geum Joo thought was Namsoon.
Ri Hwa Ja was promptly taken to the mansion and indulged like the much loved daughter they were longing for.
Somehow, Kang Bong Go did not think she was Namsoon but Hwang Geum Joo would have none of it.
Kang Bong Go then said that the real Namsoon has a scar on the sole of her foot. This set Hwang Geum Joo off again and told Kang Bong Go how irresponsible he was as a parent. He allowed Namsoon to be scarred. Kang Bong Go said that Hwang Geum Joo had no time of Namsoon.
Hwang Geum Joo went to see the sleeping Ri Hwa Ja. She saw that the girl’s foot had a scar so she was convinced that she was Namsoon.
Anyway, the Seoul police was made aware that a large consignment of drugs was coming from Mongolia.
So the police were already waiting at the tarmac where the Mongolian plane had problem touching down after it developed brake malfunction.
Namsoon kicked her way out of the plane and pulled on the wheels of the plane to make it stop and it did. Some saw what she did but they were not believed.
By episode 2 it got draggy.
Geum Joo felt in her heart that something big is happening. Her mother, Gil Joong Gan, was also woken by the same feeling.
Apparently the direct line of this female line has strong connection. So they felt the big burst of energy while Namsoon was stopping the plance.
Geum Joo looked at Ri Hwa Ja who was sleeping peacefully and she knew she was not Namsoon.
The police checked the baggages of the Mongolian plane passengers.
A gorgeous policeman, Kang Hee Sik, checked Namsoon pack where he found horse hair, horse bone and a golden sceptre.
He confiscated these items but Namsoon told him that he can take anything except for the sceptre as it was the only one that could help her find her mother.
Kang Hee Sik was moved and promised her that he really need to take the sceptre for forensic but he will help her look for her mother. He even gave her his phone number.
In the Do Bong Soon series, a female with the power could lose it if she uses it for gain or engaged in nefarious activities.
Well, Grandma Joong Gan at one point used her power for revenge on irresponsible driver.
In the story, there is also a gorgeous affluent guy who at the moment looked like the baddy as he seemed to be trying on the drugs from Mongolia.
Anyway, Namsoon and Kang Bong Go met at the last scene of the drama. Will we see a reunion of the family or will it drag until the middle of the series?!!
