Episode 1

I am giving the first episode a very generous 4 stars because despite the strange styling on King Xin, his wig is rather laughable; he who looks like a rock star from the 70s, think David Bowie, but did look rather sexy with so much chest skin on show.

Then Xing Fei who plays Bai Cai with cut out denim shorts and matching denim boots.  So it was not Levi Strauss who started denims afterall🤣🤣🤣

The story is quite good though.

In ancient times there were three realms, the immortal, the demons and the mortals.

The immortal Heilong overpowered the demons which he encarcerated never to be seen again or at least for now.

Unfortunately, Heilong is no better than the demons as far as humans are concerned.  Heilong enslaved the humans to dig bloodstones for him.

The humans had many factions but the strongest was King Xin of the Xin State.  It was him who liaise with Heilong.

Anyway, Heilong sent his envoy, Xuan Cha, to deliver another edict.  Heilong wanted double the amount of bloodstones so he expected King Xin to send more men to the quarry.

King Xin’s son Prince Wu Geng told his father that it was impossible to double the amount of bloodstone as tithe to Heilong as they don’t have anymore able man to send to the quarry as all their men are already out there.

Xuan Cha suggested that King Xin go to war with the Bai State and get the Bai men to dig at the quarry.

Finally, King Xin said that he was not doing any such thing.  The mortals are now doing it alone, they are no longer bitches of the immortals.  They will make their own destiny.

Xuan Cha was shocked and would have killed the King but he was killed first.

Anyway, the immortals retaliated immediately and killed many mortals.

King Xin declared that he was going to lead the battle against the immortals.  At first, he was unwilling to involve his son and heir, Wu Geng, but the prince insisted to fight side by side with the king.  The people started chanting to allow the prince to fight.

Meanwhile, Bai Cai and Agou, a doppleganger of Prince Wu Geng got caught up in the uprising.

Episode 2

What happened?

The Bai State came to wage war with the Xin State.  But in the end, the Bai Clan was sideline because the immortals decided to punish King Xin but to their shock, King Xin acquired the power of the Undying Pheonix Bird which gave him power-like that of the immortals.

It turned out that Xin Yue Hu, Prince Wu Geng’s mother was a hidden immortal.  She helped King Xin in his cultivation in order to protect Wu Geng.

Anyway, King Xin injured and almost killed an immortal which was unheard of.

Then gorgeous Heilong, the King of immortals turned up because he was curious to find out if King Xin was the prophesied god of war that would kill him.

They had a very prolonged energetic fight.  Then Zi Yu turned up to help but he was waylaid by Immortal Shi Xing who abducted him.

Heilong defeated King Xin but to the end, King Xin refused to bow down or kneel down to Heilong so King Xin died standing up.

Most of Xin soldiers and villagers suffered from the massacre and then the Bai soldiers finally did their worst and would have killed the immortal queen and Wu Geng but Xin Yue kui, the immortal queen’s sister turned up and killed most of the Bai guards who were trying to harm the immortal queen of Xin.

Xin Yue Kui told her sister to go back with her and hopefully Heilong will punish her but not to the point of killing her.  She also said that Wu Geng is a abberation from the immortal clan so he must die.

Xin Yue Hu seemed to know that she could not protect Wu Geng so she took a dagger and stabbed Wu Geng in the chest.  What?!!!

By the way, there seemed to be a connection between Wu Geng and Agou.

Agou has a thread bracelet which seemed to he dragging him to the palace but he collapsed in a dead faint before he could reached the palace.

Episode 3

Xin Yue Hu did stabbed Wu Geng who was really shocked at his mother’s action.  His mother told him that she had to do it.  She will always be with him.

Even Xin Yue Kui was disturbed that her sister could actually kill her son.  So she left them.

To everyone, Wu Geng had died but he ended up in a dream realm where his mother appeared before him.

She told him that everything that had happened she had already seen in a prophesy or promonition.  But he is not really dead because she had created a thread of his spirit essence which she placed on the mortal world.

It turned out the spirit essence was his doppelganger, Gou.  No wonder, Agou looked and acted so simple, because he was just a walking vessel waiting for Wu Geng’s transmigration.

And sure enough when Agou woke up, he was Wu Geng.

Wu Geng being a prince treated the very devoted Bai Cai as a stranger.

Bai Cai though was pleasantly surprised that Agou could finally talk and not mentally retarded as he had appeared to be.

Meanwhile, with the fall of the Xin State,  the Bai State is now the most powerful clan which now answer to the immortals.

Episode 4

Bai Cai started to realised that Agou is no longer Agou she grew up with.  Not the sweet, simple Agou who could not talk.

To dig up for the bloodstones, the Bai State conscripted everyone, men, women and even the disabled.  Wu Geng and Bai Cai was abducted and taken to Northern Mountain Mine where no one gets out alive.

The leader of the mine was a Hagrid character called Chen Jing.

Episode 5

Life was hard. And poor Bai Cai was suffering from the recurrence of her old illness. A mysterious man, recognised Agou as Prince Wu Geng.

He told Wu Geng that he will give him medicine for Bai Cai but he had to do something for it.  He had to stay at the mountain and be a good slave.

The mysterious man said that he knew Prince Wu Geng’ father who used to work at the mine as well but he managed to escape with the promise that he will liberate humans from slavery.

The mysterious man added that he wanted Wu Geng to complete his father’s mission but he must suffer to learn what drudgery was really all about.

Episode 6

True to his word, Wu Geng became a model slave, helping others unceasingly.  Months passed quick enough.

Wu Geng plotted to speak with Chen Jing by setting up the centurion.

Chen Jing said that Chen Jing and the centurion will have a hand to hand combat with the monster ogre.  Whoever defeat the ogre will become the new centurion.
