Episode 1

The first episode is exciting and full of military action.  But I have kept thinking that Poyou is verging on being insubordinate.

Yang Yang as can be expected is gorgeous in uniform.  The cinematography is film-like and the stunts are well choreographed.

The Tigers were on a mission to rescue someone from a Vietnamese (I think) compound by the river.

The Tigers are trained special forces who had ammo with silencers so they were able to progress with their mission with the least noise and efficiency at first. They got their man and were preparing to evacuate when more of the Vietnamese gang turned up.

To delay the gang in their pursuit, the Tiger blew up the bridge but then they were still on the other side which made it inhumanly impossible for the one carrying the rescued guy in the back to jump the gap on the bridge.

Yang Poyue did not hesitate to become a human bridge so the soldier could step on him to go to the other side.

It went wrong for Poyou, he was shot and ended down in the water below.

There were 70 new recruits to the Tiger Special Forces and Poyue and his friend from high school Xiao YunJie were included.

Their commander was relishing the fact that he is known as the Psycho King and he immediately turned psycho when he inspected the bus that brought the new recruits.  He found food littering the bus.  He had every morsel of the food picked up and he then laid them over a cloth in front of the recruits.

The Psycho King’s first lesson to his recruits was never to leave food behind for the enemy. Cherishing food is part of the tradition of the force.  So he commanded the recruit to eat every crumb from the food laid out in front of them.

The recruits immediately went into action except for Poyue and Yunjie.

The Psycho King asked them why they joined the army.

Yunjie said “To serve the country.”

Poyou said “To grow strong.”

From the word go, everyone can see that Poyou was special.  He and Yunjie made a great team.  In their first training, Poyou already told the Psycho King that his organisation leaves something to be desired.

So he allowed Poyou to assemble the recruit to finish the training.

It was successfully done and one of the trainers recognised what Poyou did which was used in WWI & WWII.

Despite excelling, it does not mean they don’t get into trouble.

Poyue and Yunjie were returning a door they disassembled when they saw a beautiful soldier who they were told was Ai Qianxue.

Episode 2

Apparently there is no romance in this drama.

Yey!  I like that.

Poyue and Yunjie got into trouble because they commented on the appearance of Ai Qianxue.  As a punishement, they were ordered to go outside the office and shout what they said about Ai Qianxue.

Ai Qianxue found them later.  Apparently Ai Qianxue was the highest ranking female at the barracks and outranks the Squad Leader of the new recruits.

Ai Qianxue told Poyue and Yunjie that they will be punished but they had to cease and desist with their screaming.

Poyue continues to show how advanced he was compared to everyone during the training.  But his squad leader was not impressed because Poyue was lacking teamanship or empathy.

During a run, one of his co-trainee fell and begged Poyue for help.

Poyue completely ignored him.

Anyway, the trainee was to a night training.  They were divided into three members of each team.

Poyue was with Yunjie and Lu Xiao Tian.

Lu Xiao Tian seemed to be the weakest and most gullible amongst the new recruits.

Yunjie pranked Xiantian while they were navigating the forest in the dark.  Yunjie started telling Xiantian a ghost story which made Xiantian go insanely scared he run to a ravine and took Poyue with him.

Yunjie went to rescue them but they all ended up tumbling into the foot of the ravine

They saw a convoy of military trucks.  Thinking that it would take them back to their barracks, the three went into the back of the truck.

It was too late when Poyue noticed that the trucks were going up the mountains.

They then realised that they got into an experience army group with guns in a mission.

Poyue was in his element.  He was excited and convinced Yunjie and Xiao Tian to join in.

Being gunless never entered Poyue’s head as an issue.

As can be expected the clumsy Xiantian was found out by the group leader of the Blue Tiger.

But Poyue and Yunjie had Xiantian’s back covered and easily overcome the leader of the Blue Tiger, who realised that the three before him were new recruits and was trespassing.

Meanwhile, the Psycho King was getting worried that three of the recruits had not returned.

Episode 3

The Blue Tiger leader brought them to hideout of the Blues thinking that the three could stay there while the training/contest was going on and then deliver them to the Psycho King.

But Poyue, Yujie and Xiantian took their role seriously as a member of the Red Team so they stopped the play but cutting the power to the drone which was being played by Team Leader Ai Qianxue.

She was absolutely furious but fair was fair, the Red Team won.

The Red Team was confused why they won especially when all their members were with them.

They learned of the three guys.  Though they had to be punished, the regiment thought that they were exceptional.

When they were handed back to the Psycho King, the chief had a quick word with the Psycho King that punishment was 100% his decision but the three were remarkable.

Their punishment was three days of confinement in a small room which made Poyue have one of his turns.  It reminded him of when he was a young boy being cooped up with other children in an underground hole where they can’t see light.  The trap door was only opened briefly when their captor would throw down some corn and vegs for them to eat.

Despite the grim situation, Poyue never gave up trying to leave the hole by climbing out but when he did the other children would not leave with him instead they started shouting that he was trying to get out.

To try to get this nightmare off him, he did push up nonstop until he was too tired and breathless.  This ended him in the infirmary.

On the third day, they were woken by loud noise and realised that it was the recruits’ promotion ceremony.

Yunjie started knocking on their door thinking that the officers had forgotten their existence.

But after the ceremony, the door was opened and the three were led to their bunk then Psycho King came with other soldiers holding promotion uniforms for Poyue, Yunjie, and Liantian.

The Psycho King then brought them to their new duty.  The kitchen!

Poyue was not happy at first but settled on chopping onions with tears on his eyes.

Episode 4

This episode is really tense.

Poyue learned to chop onions pretty quickly which impressed the army chef.

Anyway, the army chef noticed that after doing their chores, Poyue, Yunjie and Liantian continue with their physical training rather than just resting as the other trainees do.

The head chef took the three to deliver provisions to the mountain.

On the way there, they run into a motorcyclist and found that he was loaded with drugs.

They took the man into the mountain barracks.

The drug man warned them to just let him go if they wanted to see another day.

That night, the drug gang came prepared with guns with silencers so it was rather hard to pinpoint where the gang was especially the sniper.

Poyue and Yunjie were tasked to guard the drug man.

The head chef told them to try to contact the unit to ask for reinforcement.  Someone bellowed for the head chef’s attention.  He was called Old Dog by the army man.

Poyue was shocked to realise that the chef they sort of looked down on as he was just the cook in the army was one of the three legendary soldiers.  The other two were the Dragon and the Tiger.

Anyway, Poyue managed to contact someone on the radio but he was being asked so many questions that he began to suspect that something was amiss.

Loving this drama.

Episode 5

Poyue was right to be concerned.  The man he was talking to was actually the sniper.

Unfortunately, while Poyue was busy with the sniper, the drug man came loose from the rope he was tied in.

The man immediately got out but was killed by the sniper.

Poyue was very upset that he was not able to keep the drug man alive.

Anyway, Chief Leader Fan (Chef) and those who fought valiantly against the drug gang were commended.

They Pscyho King made an announcement.  Yunjie was to be transferred in the command training while Poyue and Liantian would continue to be working in the kitchen.

Chief Leader Fan was very upset for Poyue.

Poyue was disappointed but not very concerned because he is now idol-worshipping Chief Leader Fan, the Old Dog.🤣. Poyue wanted to know how to kill and how does it feel.

Chief Leader Fan said that Poyue would not really experience killing.

Poyue however started exercising more because he wanted to be the strongest.  He asked the chiel if he could teach him how to shoot.

The chief gave Poyue his old slingshot and metal balls to practice on.

Poyue was rather disheartened because he wanted to shoot guns.  But then he saw Chief Leader Fan topple the Pepsi cans using the slingshot.

Poyue practiced and practiced with the help of Liantian.

Episode 6

Poyue was absolutely ecstatic when he managed to shoot a can with the slingshot.

There was a contest between Command 1, Command 2 and Special Operations (Kitchen Squad)

The kitchen squad won in all of the disciplines.

Episode 7

Psycho King asked the kitchen team to do him a favor and pick his mother and soon-to-be fiancee up when they were doing the food shopping.

It was a rainy day and a truck overtook them in the tunnel.  the truck overturned.  The chef was able to contact the army for rescue and when they the rescue team arrived, the tunnel started to suffer from erosion.

Poyue managed to go inside the fast crumbling tunnel to try and rescue Psycho King’s mother.

Episode 8

The rain was causing landslides which were making the rescue doubly hard.

It became untenable that the army was forced to evacuate.

Poor Liantian and Yunjie had to be forcibly removed from the tunnel s they refused to evacuate.  Psycho King was heartbroken

Meanwhile, Poyue was doing everything he could to keep the mother and himself safe and it was getting more dangerous every minute.

Episode 9

Psycho King especially fetched Poyue from the hospital.  He told him that he was retiring to get married.

He advised Poyue that he was now to join the command squad.

He said that he hopes that Poyue will uphold the glory of the country even though he was the last one left standing.

Poyue who was a soldier through and through vowed that he would as he had been a soldier since he was 8 years old.

Chef Fan was rather sad to see him go but at the same token, he knew that Poyue’s raison d’etre had been to do combats.  So he took him to the forest where he previously laid a minefield.

Chef Fan said that instead of explaining minelaying it was better than Poyue walks around them to better understand them.

Chef fan was mighty impressed because it took Poyue two hours earlir to disable the mines and booby traps.

Chef Fan told him that when he was a recruit he was even more unruly than Poyue, that’s why he was called Mad Dog, he wanted to be the first in everything until a booby trap got him and hurt his back, thus he was transferred to the kitchen.

He told Poyue to only lay mine when it is absolutely necessary because one day the mine he laid might kill him.

Poyue was not especially welcome at the command but at least Yunjie was there.

It was another command excercise.

Despite having fully trained with the squad, Poyue is prowess in every discipline.

The first discipline is target marksmanship.

Episode 10

The next contest was an arm-to-arm combat where another squad gatecrashed the contest.

A bullish soldier challenged to fight Poyue.  He then gave Poyue his dagger so that they would not think that he was taking advantage of a green recruit.

What he did not know was that Chef Fan had already trained Poyue on arm-to-arm combat with a knife.

The soldier was forced to admit defeat as he was wounded by Poyue.

The next day, the contest was more rigorous.  Even the other trainee thought that the contest was going beyond normal training.  They concurred that Psycho King was really a psycho for nothing.

It training was to capture the red flat after a series of super dangerous obstacle courses.

Again it was Poyue’s team that won the contest because Poyue managed to singlehandedly capture the red flag.

But then, Psycho King honoured him with a funeral.  He said that he just killed all the soldiers or himself so Psycho King ordered him to remove his clothes and then a bucket of blood emptied on Poyue’s head signifying that he was dead.  He said that instead of asking his group to help, he world alone.

Poyue felt shamed.

Then they were all rounded up the next day to go on a mission.

Poyue could not help the smile twisting his lips which was seen by Psycho King.

Psycho King told him to look at his guy.  Poyue found real bullets

Psycho King told them that they are going on a real mission to locate drug runners.

Episode 11

Poyue had his first kill then followed by another one and then another one.

Episode12

Poyue was saved by the Cheetah Commando.

As always he proved that he is not a team leader.  The Cheetah commander told him that he did not even ask how his squad leader was who got injured protecting him.

Red scorpion.

The Cheetah command team was recruiting the best in different squads.  Poyue was put forward together with Zhang Tian Yang.

Liu Chuan Ming jokingly said to the Cheetah Commander not to touch Poyue.

The Cheetah commander agreed immediately which surprised Liu Chuan Ming, Regiment Commander.

The Cheetah Commander said that Poyue has the potential to be an excellent soldier but at the moment he is too selfish and self-centered.

Cheetah Squad’s ethos is big on the team, so Poyue won’t be able to fit in in his current state.

Actually, he could not fit into any other team because he is suffering from classic PTSD.

He was out of control.  He is so angry.

Episode 13

I am blown at Yang Yang’s acting.  In this episode, he was mentally breaking down because he can’t get his dream to come true, instead, he was feared as someone who had gone crazy.

The four to try out for the Special Forces was announced.  Not being included among the four selected, broke Poyue.

Poyue locked himself in the toilet. Only

Poor Poyue was completely demoralised.  He was now a uniformed janitor in the army.

The army needs the best soldier, not a killing machine.

Ai Qianxue took Poyue to a mental institution, especially carrying for members of the armed forces who have mental illness.

Episode 14

The Regiment Commander asked Poyue which was more important, killing an enemy or saving a comrade.

Poyue said killing an enemy without batting an eyelid.  He added that soldiers are trained and do not need saving.

The Regiment Commander said that Poyue was so self-centered but still would recommend him to join the Special Forces.

It was a hectic time at the Tiger Command.  The Regiment Commander had been notified that their unit will be merged with other units and their base will be moving.

Ai Qianxue had told Poyue that she was leaving active duty to study further for at least three years.

It was rather sad that the Psycho King retired and wanted a muted leaving do.  He did not want any fuss but Poyue was like a child and just held on to the Psycho King bag and won’t let go.

To pacify the almost tearful Poyue, the Psycho King said that they play basketball. They were then joined by the other recruits.

Still, when the Psycho King left in his jeep, Poyue remained standing and saluting the fast departing car.

Episode 15 -16

At least a couple dozen were on trials to join Cheetah Special Forces.  the contest was to last 48 hours.  The cadets were grouped in threes.

Poyue was teamed with Yunjie and Zhang Tian Yan.

There were a couple of Cheetahs who were recruited to join the contest.  Lone Wolf and Bai Long.

The fighting was intense as only the last six will get into Cheetah.

Poor Zhang Tian Yan dangerously hurt his leg trying to save Yunjie from falling from a building.  So being a very commendable soldier, he made Poyue and Yunjie make sure that they will be two of the six winners.  He then tried to take as many soldiers as he can off the contest.  What a guy but very sad because I really like him.

Poyue had a one to one guy shoot with Bai Long.  Bai Long was so impressed he even help Poyue from a shooter.  He said ‘See you at Cheetah’ to Poyue.

But this became doubtful because Poyue saw the leader of another team ‘kill’ his own team member to ensure that he was one of the 6 remaining.

Poyue was so annoyed he started fighting with the team leader.  He said that Zhang Tian Yan sacrificed himself for Poyue and Yunjie while the team leader was eliminating one of his own.

In the end Poyue and the team leader pulled each other’s smoke which meant they are both eliminated.

In the meantime, Bai Long and the Lone Wolf had hand-to-hand combat which Bailong was winning but they got interrupted by the arrival of the officers.

The officers announced that there are only three winners which made the Team Leader so annoyed.  He said that he was one of the six.

The Cheetah officer said that the team leader killed his own teammate and he had no place in Cheetah.  The team leader asked if they were partial to Poyue.

Poyue was shocked but resignedly accepted that he might be out.

Episode 17

Poyue knew he failed so he turned back to go but he was called back by the Commander and said that he has a chance to still get in.  But he had to fight it out against Guo Xiao Xiao, the female sniper.

Poyue raised his hand and said he surrender.  He said that Guo Xiao Xiao had already got in and it would be unfair to her to have to go on a contest again.  Poyue said that he will just have to really train until he drops and then try out again next time.

The Commander really wanted him so he said that they needed six and Poyue was number six.  He’s in.

This was a bit of an anti-climax for Poyue and took him a minute or two to fully appreciate that his dream is starting to be fulfilled.

The training was like no other.  They had to run in uneven terrains while rained on by water and soil thrown at them by soldiers.

They then had to break for lunch of crickets and locusts.  At first, Poyue and Yunjie were wary of the unusual lunch but Guo Xiao Xiao told them that they would be doing more training in the afternoon and they need strength.

Guo Xiao Xiao told them not to chew but just cut the critters with their teeth and then swallow.  She then told them that as a sniper in Africa, she was used to eating them sometimes raw.  She then had to drink a tsp or two of kerosene to debug her stomach.

Their next task was to carry 10 gallons of something on their shoulder while running.

Most completed the task quickly but No 37 and 43 were the last ones because they rested.  Apparently, the worst thing you could do is to rest because you are giving your brain a chance to tell your body to slow down which makes you even more tired.

That evening, a fellow cadet talked about Cheetah Special Forces; Four Noes and One Without Principle: No Intimacy, No Feelings, No Conditions & No Compromise of Standards, without any dignity.

Episode 18

The training was getting more complicated and harder.

Poyue was paired with Guo Xiao Xiao in a hand to hand combat in a rice paddy.  At first Poyue won’t fight with Guo Xiao Xiao because he said he doesn’t hit women but Guo Xiao Xiao kicked him hard.  She was a good fighter.

Poor Yunjie was teamed with Bai Long.

They had then carry a log while they were power-hosted with water.

Then they they were tied up in pairs when chucked into swimming pool and had two minutes to untie themselves.

One of the trainees almost drowned.

Episode 19

Poyue was partnered with Guo Xiao Xiao and realised that she was much better than him.  He was especially concerned when he missed so many targets during the shooting.

The training involved immersing their heads into a bowl of water for three minutes and then picking a gun up and shooting the targets.

Poyue could not believe that he missed most of the targets.  The trainers were concerned that Poyue will have to be dismissed from the training.

Poyue asked Guo Xiao Xiao to mentor him.  They worked well together.

Xiao Xiao told him that he had to be able to control his heart and his hands to shoot a target.  She told him that she can breathe underwater for 7 minutes 45 seconds.  An ordinary human can do it for two minutes.

Guo Xiao Xiao trained him and in the end, he passed in the next target practise working side by side with Xiao Xiao.

Episode 20

Their next training was being cast into the forest with minimal food and then hunted down by trained soldiers.

Poyue and Yunjie asked Xiao Xiao to team up with them.  They were able to convince her in the end.

The training was getting more difficult.  It was so difficult, Poyue fell on a trapping pit and suddenly attacked with claustrophobia, remembering the time when he was a young boy.

Yunjie was going mental and wanted to climb down into the hole to rescue Poyue.

Xiao Xiao convinced Yunjie to let her go down as she was lighter than Yunjie.

She tried to rescue Poyue but Poyue was too weak he could not climb up.

He started telling him of his experience and she truly gets his phobia.

He asked where she grew up.

She told him in Mongolia which made Poyue realise why she was strong and feisty.

Episode 21

The training had turned for the worst.  It was almost inhumane that even Capt Leng Jin had told Qin Feng that that training was going beyond what was acceptable.

They tied up Poyue and had him crouched down on the ground with no way to save himself from an incoming jeep heading for him.  It did stop a few inches away from him.

Then all five of them, Poyue, Yunjie, Xiao Xiao, Bailong and Zhao Tian (has to double-check his name) were tied up to each other.  Poyue was tied to Yunjie.  Yunjie was lowered into the pond upside down and Poyue had to use his strength not to drown Yunjie.  This went on for hours.  Xiao Xiao was holding on to Zhao Tian.

Poyue collapsed and Yunjie was presumed to have drowned.  The guards came in to check and fish Yunjie out but it was a ploy because the group that worked together had given the two guards their own medicine.  They tied them up and lower the other to the pond.

They were going to leave but they decided to go back and they ended up fighting the guards.

Episode 22

Finally, Poyue, Yunjie, Xiao Xiao, Bailong and another one (got to find his name) passed the training and were officially a part of the Cheetah Special Force.

Episode 23

As each squad has to have eight members, three veterans including Yue Kong were added to Poyue’s team.

Their training got much harder and their intrinsic personality started to show up.  Poyue was as arrogant and self-centered as ever.  He truly believes in fighting for his country rather than saving his comrades.  He said what was the point of joining the force if your ultimate goal was not to fight for your country but to save your comrade first?

Bai Long can’t forgive Cao Ben for the death of their commander when they were in the same division.  I am really not sure why it was Cao Ben’s fault.

Cao Ben stepped on a landmine and was prepared to die. Their commander told him to move as he pushed Cao Ben out while he dived into the mine.  Cao Ben was saved but of course, the commander died.

Xiao Xiao was chosen as a guide/spotter sniper to Yue Kong.  Xiao Xiao was not having it because she said her strength is being a sniper, not an assistant so she challenged their trainers to have her and Yue Kong have a contest.

Aside from being a loner and called a Lone Wolf, Xiao Xiao also wanted to prove that women are on far or even better than men so she worked doubly harder.  Her idol is Leng Jing, who is a female captain in the army.

Yue Kong had a natural ability, he uses nature rather than gadgets to gauge his target.

Leng Jing knew this so to make Xiao Xiao realised that she was going overboard, Leng Jing stood in front of the swaying target.  Yue Kong did not hesitate, he shot the head of the target when it swayed on sight. While Xiao Xiao, hesitated for the longest time until the game was over.

Yue Kong told Xiao Xiao that if she was really a confident sniper, she would have not hesitated.

Meanwhile, a Thai drug lord had told his adopted son to stop trying to break into China but it was too late, his son had this in mind more than anything else.

Episode 24

Seeing that the team was not gelling, Qing Feng ordered them to be confined in one large cell for ten days.

Being confined, their activities were constrained by the space so they started telling their stories which have their hidden trauma.

The first to tell a story was Xiao Xiao.  She told them that once upon a time,  she had a friend, who was called Akita to her Wolfie.

Akita was made to become her spotter.

They were in the mountains trying to get an enemy sniper.  Akita was injured but bravely used herself as a decoy so  Xiao Xiao could find where the sniper was hiding.

It worked but poor Akita later died in Xiao Xiao’s arms.

From then on, if she can help it, she would work alone as the Lone Wolf.

Episode 25

The next story was about Bai Long,  Xiang Fei and Cao Ben

Cao Ben and Bai Long were tearful while recounting how Xiang Fei was the best human being that ever lived but he had to sacrifice his life for Cao Ben, who Bai Long thought was not worthy,

Cao Ben admitted that he had regretted what had happened for the last three years.

The next story was about Poyue and Yunjie who met in high school.  They were rivals from the word go but quickly learned to get along to protect a school friend, Xia Ling from school bullies.

Episode 26

The guys asked what happened to Xia Ling?

Yunjie said that it was all platonic and that Xia Lin went to study abroad after high school.

The guys like a bit of a love story so they asked Yue Kong to tell his story as he looks like a bit of a player.

Yue Kong’s story was a little shocker.  When he was in primary school leaving in a military compound where his friends were from a military family, Yue Kong formed a friendship with Da Ling  and a boy.  The three became the three musketeers after they accidentally undergo a shocking life and death experience involving a gun that Yue Kong stole from his father.

Da Ling accidentally shot Yue Kong but thanked goodness only in his arms.

Episode 27

Yue Kong had always wanted to join the military but he went to university at Da Ling’s behest.  But after graduation, he told her that he was enlisting.

Despite not being ultra happy about it, she agreed but then when he had finished his military training and can come home, he told her that he was joining the army full time.

Da Ling was understandably upset so Yue Kong was dumped by a girlfriend.

The last time she heard from her was when she gave him an invitation to her wedding.

After much laughter, PoYue told his story that he was abducted at seven by a child trafficker, who happens to be Daddy Kun.

Daddy Kun was killed because his plan for Red Scorpion was not profitable enough.  His fostered son is the new leader.

Episode 28

Commander Qin gave a mission to the 8 which was despicably hard to carry out but they did try to anyway going on the intel that they got.

It was to rescue a hostage.

Poyue saw a woman in a skimpy top and skimpier shorts so without asking any question, he untied the girl watched by the team.

The girl then blew them up.  So the mission was a fail.

Commander Qin was all for sending all home for being useless and not fit for purpose as members of Cheetah Squad.

Cao Ben as the team leader begged for another chance.

They were to do another one which was even harder as the hostage had a vest bomb that was ready to explode.  But they manage to rescue her in time.

But there was a hidden mission within the mission.  A drug cartel member was in the basement so they had to get him as well.

Episode 29

They passed the mission but Commander Qin that they only passed it because they failed the first trial.

Episode 30 – 31

The Cheetah battled with the Special Forces.  Poyue at first seemed to give too many leeways to the Special Forces because he was one of them once.

Poyue told his team to trust him.

Zhang Tian Yang and Lu Xiao Tian were captured by Poyue’s team.  Instead of killing them, Poyue tied and his team tied them up which made Zhang Tian Yang so annoyed and humiliated because he did try out for Cheetah but hurt his leg so he sacrificed for Poyue and Yunjie.

He was not screaming for Poyue to finish him off and not pity him because he was disabled.

Poyue just looked at him calmly and then ignored his mention of disability.

After the first match, it looked like Cheetah failed to get the number of ‘fatalities’ of their ‘enemy’ to win the game/training unanimously.  So a rematch was decided.

Zhang Tian Yang was very proud of Poyue and Yunjie and said that his sacrifice was well worth it.  Lu Xiao Tian loved all his friends.

Of course, Cheetah had to win in the end.

Meanwhile, the drug cartel of Red Scorpion is getting armed and dangerous.
