Jiang Si was now so confused and asked what day, year it was.
She was told it was the 23rd year of Jingming. 10 years ago… She was by the Jinshui River watching some celebration when she spotted Master Ji at the bridge having a romantic moment with another girl.
Jiang Si confronted them as she was already engaged to Master Ji. Jiang Si wanted to know who the girl Master Ji was cheating with but he pushed Jiang Si into the river below.
Yu Qi dove in to rescue her. He saw a Nanwu Flame Totem mark on the back of her neck. He thought she was a Nanwu spy.
He decided to find out everything about her.
Jiang Si remembered that her rescuer was her killer in her previous life so she decided to leave as soon as she could without giving her name to him despite being asked.
She hurried home realising that at this point in time her dearest brother was still alive and had not drown from the Jinshui River. Her father too had not gotten into trouble with the Directorate of Astronomy had not been executed.
She came home to a mansion in mourning. Her Aunt Xiao, who was the matron of the Jiang Mansion in the absence of the great Grandma Jiang was ruling the roost despite only from the second branch of the family. She bullies Jiang Si’s father and brother and the old her.
But this time Jiang Si was different especially when she heard Aunt Xiao crowing that Jiang Si died after being pushed into the river by her cheating fiance.
Aunt Xiao got a shock when she saw Jiang Si who could not help but slap a very shocked Aunt Xiao.
Aunt Xiao would have hit her back but Jiang Si was so ready and pushed her away.
Jiang Si was told by her maid that her father and brother were having the river dredging the river to find her or her body.
Her poor father would not stop until they find her. Jiang Si shouted for them until they heard her. They had a happy reunion. She made Jiang Zhan promised not to go to Jinshui River again, ever. Whilst she told her father to not go to the Directorate of Astronomy. They promised her.
Jiang Si then told her father and brother that she would not go through the wedding. She wanted it cancelled. Her father was unsure at first as Aunt Xiao had arranged the match.
Anyway, they went to Aunt Xiao to inform her of Jiang Si’s decision. Aunt Xiao was very dismissive and later told them that it was not up to any one of them to cancel the wedding. Grandma Jiang has the final say.
To make sure that the wedding is not cancelled Aunt Xiao ordered her maid to hide the Ji dowry.
Jiang Zhan had an idea of entering the next day’s tournament for a new commandant. If he wins the contest and become a commandant, he would move his father and Jiang Si out of the Jiang Mansion and live independently.
It was a wonderful idea but Jiang Si knew that her brother does not have the skill or the strenght to win a fight tournament. She made him promise not to enter the tournament.
The next day, her brother was surprisingly winning the first few rounds. Jiang Si who turned up was surprised and proud of her brother until his assistant said that Jiang Zhan had bribed his opponents.
It was going well until the nasty Jiang An Mou turned up and beat up Jiang Zhan. He was not going to stop at just beating Jiang Zhan, he took a sword and would have killed Jiang Zhan despite Jiang Si who was bieng restricted by guards was screaming for Jiang An Mou to stop.
She did manage to get away from the guards and went to cover her brother with her body but somehow the sword failed to cut her as she seemed to have created an invisible forcefield around her.
Yu Qi then came to the stage and beat up Jiang An Mou. Yu Qi then was declared the new commandant but he turned down a permanent position but he accepted an interim commandantship until someone more suitable comes along.
Jiang Zhan was so grateful to Yu Qi he invited him to stay at the Jiang Mansion. He also mentioned to Yu Qi that the mansion next door was for sale.
Yu Qi decided to stay for now at Lang’an because of an intel he got from Nanwu spy. The spy said that the appearance of the Saintess with the Nanwu mark would bring prosperity to Nanwu.
Yu Qi knew who might be the Saintess with the Nanwu mark.
