Episode 1
It started at Laolan Pass, where soldiers from Zhenxi Army are having a lunch break on thin crispy flat breads. So they became more full, Bao the Chef encourages them to drink water first.
Li Ni, the marshal of the Zhenxi Army joined his troop as they joke around but then they were interrupted by an arrival of army, led by General Pei Xian who was very overwrought as he was the bringer of bad news.
Apparently the Emperor is dead having been assasinated by Sun Jing on his 60th birthday party. The banquet was turned into a bloody massacre where even the crown prince was killed.
Lord Liang who was Li Ni’s father was the only one who survived the brutal killing because he did not attend the party. But he had been kidnapped by the assassins.
With the passing of the emperor and the crown prince, Lord Liang was going to be the new emperor as the son of the dead crown prince is only seven years old.
So technically, Li Ni is the new crown prince but he was not having it was his cousin should still inherit despite being young as the boy showed great intelligence.
General Pei was aggrieved as the they can’t allow a boy to rule.
Li Ni the 17th Imperial Grandson led the battle to quell the rebellion and to rescue Lord Liang at Yingzhou.
In the meantime, General Pingliang of Cui Li Army sent his only son to Yingzhou to liberate it. They killed Sun Jing, thus General Pingliang became the ruler of the nation.
