Pork Barrel By Another Name (Gravy Train)

Ooopps  Have we all rejoiced too early after the announcement by PNoy (President Benigno Aquino III) that the much flawed Pork Barrel funding will be abolished. We now learn that any changes maybe just cosmetic, and all that may happen is a name change from PDAF pork barrel to just another vultures dinner!?
Perhaps to use UK slang further alluding to the pork meat connotation, those who had their greedy pig like snouts in the trough(of free cash) now know the pork will be covered by ‘gravy’ taking their fill from the ‘gravy train'(a position in which one receives excessive and unjustified money or advantages with little or no effort).

Clearly we need a fuller and transparent explanation of the new funding system and how the bottom line spending will benefit those it is supposed to be targeted to. Senators should not be handing finances, funding should be centralised for more control and accountability. For example medical health care should be nationalised with a central department dealing with distributing the funding to where it is needed and all should know where the money is going to.
No more nurtured Napoles’!

We heard that approx only 60,000 people turned up at the anti-Pork Barrel ‘Million People March’ in Luneta Park, Manila on 26 August 2013. It was hoped that many many more making the numbers of demonstrators near to the titled ‘million’ would attend. PINOYS should not be complacent. Though this was rather disappointing, we will not stop until every single peso is accounted for. We need proof that the noble ‘rhetoric and promises of reform'(not rename)- from the leader of our nation made before millions on Friday 23 August 2013, will indeed become fact and not more ‘smoke and mirrors’ deception as in the past. Come on PNoy make history and us proud!!! It is daang matuwid, nevermind the t-junctions, just bulldoze your way into sanity and honesty.
