Friday Inspiration

I got this poem from a Celia Haddon book of Courage and Serenity. I think it is so lovely and inspiring.
It is full of hope…
What it means is “Don’t give up!”

The accompanying photos are from the lenses of PH Morton. For more of his fantastically artistic pictures, go to: https://www.flickr.com/photos/125221717@N08/

Cheers

Little flowers When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,

Little flowersWhen the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,

DSCN8101When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Little flowersLife is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,

DSCN6400And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out …

DSCN6945And you never can tell how close you are –
It may be near when it seems far.

DSCN6608 So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit:
It’s when things seem worst you must not quit.

Blue Skies

There is blue sky up above today. It is wonderfully clear and bright. No absolute reason why I am not in the garden so I shall of course be decamping to the garden in a minute, after I have posted some spectacular photos from the lenses of PH Morton accompanied by the dulcet and toe-tapping tune of dear Ella Fitzgerald’s Blue Skies – what else!!! LOL 😉

Enjoy folks, I hope wherever you are, you are seeing blue sky too.

Cheers

Blue skies
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see

Bluebirds
Singing a song
Nothing but bluebirds
All day long

Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you’re in love, my how they fly

Blue days
All of them gone
Nothing but blue skies
From now on

I never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you’re in love, my how they fly

Blue days
All of them gone
Nothing but blue skies
From now on

Still Life Comes to Life – Photo Journey

Nowadays, it is seldom to see Peter without a camera hanging over his neck.  He has really taken photography into another level.  Mind you, since I first knew him more than 28 years ago, he was already into taking pictures.  He even won some awards for some of his pictures.  When he was younger, he was even asked to photograph a wedding but he turned it down not because of perceived limitation in his craft but the stress that might bring from the subjects.  You see Peter takes his time to get the right angle.  He wants to frame the subject just perfectly.  I have to admit, that he likes taking my photos which I am not sure I like.  I had to keep a smile for a minute or two and that is hard.  But I have to admit, he can actually make me prettier that I truly am. 😉

When our son was a baby, he can rival the most photographed baby celebrities in the world.  James’s every waking moment was documented.  This can be evidenced by the chest after chest after chest of drawers of photograph of our adored baby.  Photos of his first smile, first grin, first hair cut and tuft of hair, first tooth, first sat down, first step,  first everything.  Peter also photographed the second smile, etc.  He also photographed the third, the fourth, the fifth until James said enough is enough! hahaha  We still have a drawerful of undeveloped camera films still lying about.  It would have been useful and a lot cheaper if there was an SD card before!

Since Peter takes his time using his camera to make things come to life in still photos, I have decided to join him in his hobby.  I too have taken the camera but not as carefully and meticulously as Peter.  I am more the point and shoot type of photo recorder.  I am proud of my work but have to admit that Peter’s are way better.  I actually like his photos more but do not tell him that!  I love looking at his etchings! ;), again do not tell him that!

Below are photos Peter had taken.  Some are already posted in GlobalGranary.Org

But so much more can be seen at his flickr account.

Still Life Comes to Life – Photo Journey

Planet Earth – Wonderful World

Earth – What a wonderful world

Emptiness is greatness. It is like the bird that spontaneously sings and feels it is part of the universe.
– Chuang Tzu

I love the photos of view from Tagaytay. These photos were from the lense of PH Morton.

It makes one appreciate how wonderful the planet earth is.

It reminds me of a song from elementary:

Who made those beautiful mountains?
I know, I know!
God made those beautiful mountains
That is why I love Him so.

Who made those beautiful rivers?
I know, I know!
God made those beautiful rivers.
That is why I love Him so.

……….etc, etc.

How inappropriate to call this plant Earth when clearly it is Ocean.
– Arthur C Clarke

Finger Flexibility Exercises

Exercises

Age has a way of catching up on us. Little things that we used to take for granted suddenly become such a frustrating chore.

I used to be able to do things simply and easily like opening  jars of jams or bottles of tomato ketchup. Suddenly these everyday things are an exertion, which is really frustrating.

Below are some simple finger/hand exercises that would encourage and promote finger flexibility. I would say to practice these as often as you can. And perhaps before going to sleep just after you’ve applied moisturiser to your hands.

Hold up one hand or both hand as if trying to stop something or a charade for reading a book Photo by PH Morton

Hold up  both hands as if trying to stop something from falling.

Make a fist with your thumb outside the curl of you fingers. Hold for 3 seconds. Photo by PH Morton

Open the fist and spread your fingers as wide as you can.

Do this exercises as often as you can everyday.

Let’s control our bodies or rather our fingers!  Don’t let our fingers control us!  🙂
