Online Shopping Vs Shopping Centre

Online Shopping Vs Shopping Centre

This is the 22nd of December and I am pretty sure most of you have done your shopping.  Gifts are all wrapped up, labelled and put under the tree.

To those who are still doing Christmas shopping, there is still time and I have to say that malls and shopping centre are not that crowded.  Also more discounts are now to be had.  No need to wait for the January sale, it has arrived early.  I have started buying more decorations, cards and wrapping papers for next Christmas.  Well, one can never be too early to save money, I say.

I did most of my shopping online.  Amazon has been fantastic.  John Lewis as well.  As to Argos, they caused me a lot of problem.  Argos being an online giant network in the UK, you would think that they everything at the ready; have costumer service to take calls and sort out problems.  But my experience was that, I was kept hanging on the telephone for premium minutes and then we I finally got through to one of the customer advisers, I was given the assurance of my delivery being on its way and yet was a total lie.  It was lucky I found their Facebook page: Retail and merchandise.

I ordered a bed for our little Nathan at Argos.  I also ordered the pillows, the sheets, curtains, duvet and cover and light fitting.  Everything finally arrived but the bed.

Without informing me by text or email, Argos decided that the bed would be delivered on the 29th of December; completely sabotaging our intention of a Christmas present to our grandson of a minion decorated bedroom.  Do they expect Nathan to sleep on the floor?

It was annoying and upsetting for me to note that other Argos customers are getting their deliveries in time for Christmas and yet my order which I placed on 23 November 2015, was completely overlooked.  Facebook’s Argos retail and merchandise said that when I placed the order, they did not know that they run out of stock.

I went back online on Argos site and did a dummy order of the same bed.  I got it and there was an offer of immediate delivery in a matter of days after Christmas.  I happened to see an offer of a chat with their customer services.  I mentioned the ‘order’ that I just placed and he, Jeremy, confirmed that they can certainly deliver.  I then mentioned that the bed, the same bed, I have already ordered and paid for in November cannot be delivered in a matter of days.  He was certainly taken aback.  He checked and said that the bed will now be delivered on the 24 December 2015 between 7am-12pm; he was very apologetic.  I don’t know if it was a way to save face (argos’ refutation) but he said it was the headboard that was to be delivered on the 29th.

Well just see.

All in all, although it is certainly convenient to shop online, I think the major presents are more safe bought in the store and physically carried home with you. 🙂

Hi Gemma
We received a voicemail from Argos this afternoon asking for us to call back to arrange delivery. We tried but after 20 minutes waiting time, we gave up. Please advise them to just deliver tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, or anytime. They could also leave package with neighbours at no 44. Thanks.
Hi there, Your order number for your missing item is 1091957442 and it will be delivered to you on 17/12/2015 between the hours of 7:00pm – 10:00pm.A signature is not required on delivery. Thanks.
Thanks

There is another problem; a bigger one. One 25 November, I placed an order of a single bed and headboard for use of my grandson over the Christmas holiday. It was meant to be delivered on 19 December between 7am to 12pm. It did not arrive. I did not get a text or a message why it did not arrive. I called and was hanging on the telephone for half and hour but cannot get through. Please this is an absolute emergency. We need the bed otherwise my grandson will sleep on a cold wooden floor. We had been loyal to argos buying all the stuff that would go to the grandson room – from the pillows, duvet, covers, bed sheets, etc but we feel Argos disloyalty to us especially reading posts from other who just ordered something and receiving it the same or next day delivery. The order no is 211938273. thanks

Hi Jean, I am very sorry for this delay, I can see that delivery is booked for 29/12 and this is the earliest date we can arrange delivery, I can also see that our Live Chat team have also confirmed this to you ~ Wendy
Nope, Jeremy (chat team) said that the bed will be delivered on 24 December between 7am-12pm. It was the headboard which is delivered on the 29. Does that mean I was lied to by the Jeremy/chat team?
