Episode 1
It has a cute beginning. The leads are adorable: Fiction Guo of Accidentally In Love and Lu Zhao Hua in All I Want for Love is You.
Xia Kui is an illustrator among other things. She is actually a Jill of all trade because she needed to be.
Her family is up to their necks with debts.
They are actually dealing with 99 different money lenders all asking for their money and interests back.
Her main occupation is running the family fake antique shop.
One day, she found an ancient scripture about a holy pearl.
The scripture story goes that in the beginning, planet Earth is a part of a parallel universe. It has a twin universe that has exactly the same geographical and ecological characteristics. They are so similar they are called a mirror star.
This mirror star conceived a holy pearl which is the bringer of life, it gave form to all creatures, that is why birds could fly, fish swims, etc.
They are some beings when dead, their souls linger on and they are called the ghost and some of them would become demons.
Anyway, whoever has the holy pearl will become so powerful.
At this point, Xia Kui stopped reading saying that the scripture was a lot of crap.
Xia Kui as a boy she has a crush on. He was Zhou Jing.
A group of the had planned to hike to the mountain. But for some reason, Xia Kui was late.
Her friend was giving her a blow by blow account of their activities as they had reached the top of the mountain.
Xia Hui begged her friend to send her a photo of the gorgeous Zhou Jing.
She was so busy mooning of the photo of the back of Zhou Jing that she did not look where she was going.
She fell and then roll, roll, and roll and roll some more until she ended up in a cave on top of a beautiful Samoyed dog.
She noticed that one of the dog’s legs had a cut so she bound it with her headband.
She explored the cave and noticed that a pearl-like orb what on top of a stalagmite. Thinking that it could be valuable, she plucked the pearl from its position and then pocketed it.
She then put the Samoyed into her rucksack and carried it on her back as she painstakingly climbed up the steep ravine of the cave.
She then rushed to a veterinary clinic and left the dog outside as she had no money for the treatment.
The vet took the Samoyed in. The other dogs in the clinic became rather active, barking and howling.
The samoyed had glowing eyes and quickly turned into a handsome young man in white flowing hanfu.
He ended up in the middle of the city, thinking how much everything had changed.
Meanwhile, Xia Hui turned the pearl into a necklace and fastened it around her neck.
It glowed and seemed to have sent signal to the ghostly creatures on Earth, including Bai Xiao who was just thinking that the one who stole his pearl was a young girl.
She was taking selfies when he appeared.
He gave her the scare of her life. He was floating on air and no matter how much she tried to evade him he was always in front of her.
He gave her headband and now she must return his holy pearl.
She did not understand what he meant at first but then realised that he was talking about the pearl she had on her neck.
She quickly tried to remove but it was impossible without killing herself.
Bai Xiao explained that she was now the host of the pearl and removing it from herself would mean her death but the thing is that he owns the pearl and he needed it asap.
He was just about to forcibly take the people from her when she was saved by the pinging of the microwave. She told him that she was cooking braised beef.
The thought of meat stopped him from killing her instantly.
While he was eating, she learned that he had been cultivating for 1000 years. He had only one more day to finalise his ascent into the immortal world when she stole his holy pearl.
She told him that she could bring him to a restaurant with plentiful of meat.
He was eating platefuls of many types of meat when Xia Hui sneaked out leaving him to pay.
She then got into a bus which was rather mysterious. She was a lone passenger and then she noticed that the driver was now outside of the driverless moving bus.
She was so scared but the bus was stopped by Bai Xiao with just one hand.
The driver of the bus turned into a bat man but Bai Xiao was able to defeat him easily.
He then went to Xia Hui who begged him to give her just three days to sort out all her affairs for a final arrangement.
Bai Xiao agreed. And told her she was got two days and only 2 hours left from the first day.
Episode 2
At the stroke of midnight, Xia Kui would be a goner. So she made a bucket list of what she wanted done before she dies.
The first on her list, which became extremely short was to show Zhou Jing her love before she passed.
So went to find Zhou Jing who was doing a costume drama starring Nanjiao, who is really a demon.
Nanjiao found out that Xia Kui had the holy pearl and that mean, Bai Xiao would be nearby.
Nianjia arranged for Xia Kui to become an extra.
Xia Kui was happy because she could be near Zhou Jing.
Nanjiao arranged that Xia Kui would be suspended in wires for the wuxia drama she was starring in. She also instructed her demon assistant to make the rope holding Xia Kui to safety to break.
Xia Kui was just about to her possible death when she remained suspended on air.
Bia Xiao found out where she was and was just in time to save her.
Bai Xiao and Nanjiao met.
She told him that she had been looking for him for a thousand years. She confessed to him but Biao Xiao said that it would only take one day more and he could be immortal.
Her being a demon would mean they had to travel separate paths.
Bai Xiao told her that he was looking forward to seeing Que Seng again when he becomes immortal.
Nanjiao was upset. He still preferred Que Seng over her.
Meanwhile, Xia Kui was with Zhou Jing. For some reason she cannot confess to him.
She told him to meet up at 10pm that night.
Episode 3
The person who should up at 10pm was Bai Xiao. As it was midnight he asked Xia Kui whether she preferred to kill herself or would she like him to do it.
Despite begging him for 5 minutes more as Zhou Jing might yet still appear, Bai Xiao started strangling her with the holy pearl necklace she was wearing.
She was saved at the last minute by Nanjiao who said that it was against the commandments for a demon to kill a human.
Nanjiao further added that they could take the pearl without killing Kui but gathering 100 demon animas to put in the pearl.
Bai Xiao was skeptical at first buy Nanjiao had her ace card. She mentioned Que Sheng, the former demon king who is now an immortal.
He agreed that Nanjiao should find the 100 demon animas within three months.
Bai Xiao and Nanjiao were just leaving when Zhou Jing turned up.
He asked Kui what she wanted to say that is so important.
Kui, by this time, thought that as she still has three months, if she confesses now and gets turned down it would be extremely embarrassing.
So she stuttered to find an important explanation.
Zhou Jing took pity on her and say that he actually knows what she wanted to say and he agrees.
Kui was so happy but Zhou Jing elaborated and said, “How much”
He thought that she wanted to borrow money. LOL
She said that she wanted him to teach her drawings and yes she wanted to borrow a bit of money.
He gave her some money and his phone number and told her to go home and rest after her traumatic day.
Kui was found by Nanjiao and took her to her trailer and told her story as a young demon 1000 years ago.
She was caught by a demon catcher but rescued by the young demon fox.
She told Kui that she was closed to Bai Xui and share everything with him.
Then one day he decided to attend the Blood Red Moon festival that only happened every 500 years.
This festival usually selects a new king. As Nanjiao’s power was not that strong yet, she was not able to enter the festival but Bai Xiao did by defeating all his demon opponents.
The last demon that he had to fight for the kingship was his own twin brother Bai Feng.
Bai Feng became the king but Bai Xiao disappeared for a thousand years.
It turned out that he did not really want to be king, he wanted the holy pearl so he could start his cultivation to immortality and be with Que Sheng.
After Nanjiao storytelling, Bai Xiao returned to go home with Kui.
Kui was telling him that she knew how closed he was with Nanjiao.
Bai Xiao said to her that it seemed Nanjiao was telling porkies.
He cannot be closed to Nanjiao because he was allergic to flowers and Nanjiao is a peony demon. this was the reason he had been sneezing loudly every time he was near Nanjiao.
Right after they got home, Bia Xiao asked for a calendar to mark a three months probation.
Outside the house was a young demon catcher who learned that there is a fox in the house.
Episode 4
Bai Xiao is getting used to life in the 21st century. He is a fast learner as well.
Kui is not herself. She eats and eats and eats. She is becoming like Bai Xiao.
Kui became friends with a beautiful girl who works at the school canteen. Kui at first thought that the girl had a crush on Zhou Jing until she found out that it was Mo Ran, Zhou Jing’s friend.
Kui advised the girl to confess to Mo Ran and she was going to help her.
Episode 5
The demon catcher was rather inept. He said that Kui seemed to exude a sort of fox traits around her.
Kui was of course at that time with Bai Xiao.
Anyway, the girl had asked Kui to come to dinner at her house. She had also invited Mo Ran who found the girl’s diary.
It was full of his photos with sweet notes.
He cannot help himself, He hugged the girl from behind as she was cooking.
They were both really happy of their new love but Mo Ran suddenly realised that the girl was not an ordinary girl. She had a bushy red foxtail.
From love, MoRan’s feelings turned to fright and disgust.
Episode 6
A cat demon killed the girl, who turned out to be really a boy.
This episode is so silly but then again Bai Xiao was so cute, you just don’t care.
Nanjiao had moved in with them.
The demon catcher had attached himself with Kui because she fulfills his family tradition that only a suitable wife for a demon catcher can see his spirit cage.
He had been protecting Kui if rather ineffectually.
Episode 7
An Ping, Kui’s friend lost her eyesight to the Dean, the casino demon. It was up to Kui to get it back.
So she challenged him to a game of monopoly. The players were Bai Xiao, the demon catcher, Jing and her.
What the casino demon did not tell them from the beginning was that the casino will always will. Kui bid her bead away and knowing that she was going to lose it for sure, Bai Xiao cut his hand for bloodletting to destroy the enchanted monopoly board.
They found out later that the Dean was a very humanitarian or was that demonitarian, lol, who had actually closed down the casino a couple of years ago and turned it into a care home more demons. The dean was possessed by the spirit of Bai Feng which surprised Bai Xiao.
The casino demon gave back the eye to the five blind demons and sight to An-Ping.
In this episode, Kui got another 5 anima from the blind demons.
Bai Xiao was suffering from his cut hand. It got infected which made him feverish.
Kui forced herself into his room to look after him.
The next day, Bai Xiao realised that Kui had become a walking prize because of her spirit bead and she must be protected.
Episode 8
Kui had to move out temporarily of her house to evade the loan sharks who were threatening to break her legs if she does not pay up.
She stayed with Ping An but she can’t settle because she had suddenly developed insomnia after she, Ping An and Zhou Jing participated in a demonstration on hypnotism. He said that it was an ultra-high level where the most traumatic experience was experienced all over again.
Poor Zhou Jing was raging when he saw himself as a young boy again trapped in a building house.
Anyway, Bai Xiao cannot settle either without Kui in the house so he asked her to forward the number of her creditors and he will sort them out.
After an hour, she got a call back from Bai Xiao saying that it was safe to come home.
When she returned, the goons were bruised but obediently cleaning the house. They told her to pay the money owed but in her good time, no pressure whatsoever.
Bai Xiao told Kui that he found out that there are more creditors circling the house.
Kui said that as long as her father is alive, creditors will come and go.
Bai Xiao offered to help her kill her father which shocked her to the core because whatever her father had done, she is filial.
But still Bai Xiao said that her father was a waste of space.
Kui cannot go to sleep despite trying everything. So she called the hypnotist if she could be cured of her insomnia in the middle of the night.
The hypnotist was obliging and told her to come over.
The sound of her motorbike revving woke Bai Xiao who followed her to where she was going.
She was asked by the hypnotist to lie on the lounger. In no time she was asleep.
The hypnotist was just about to plunge the knife to her throat when it suddenly changed direction and going for his own throat.
Bai Xiao was standing watching under the demon hypnotist banished into thin smoke.
Nan Jiao turned up in her lingerie and noticed that Kui was asleep on the lounger.
She told Bai Xiao that the demon hypnotist was not gone but went into Kui’s dream as he was a dream thief.
Episode 9
This episode is on the tedious side with some funny moments when Kui turned into Sailor Moon and then Kick Ass’ `Hit-Girl.
It was a race against time for Kui to wake up from her hypnotised state before the hypnotist steals her magic bead.
Episode 10
Kui and Bai Xiao finally got out of the dream world. They tried to rehabilitate the the dream eater who was not through and through a bad guy. But he said that he had been left starving for ages because he dines in sweet dreams and nowadays ordinary people are so stressed that they bring it to their dreams. Not a lot dream a little dream of sweetness.
Kui went into Bai Xiao’s dream out of curiosity.
Nan Jiao was in his dream asking him who he was waiting for? Was it Qe Seng?
Nope, it was Kui herself. He had been dreaming about her. Awww
Episode 11
The tree demon conned Si Chen into giving a red bean to Bai Xiao which could paralyse him. They can then kill Bai Xiao.
Si Chen thought that he was doing Kui a favour by allowing her to be free of Bai Xiao.
Bai Xiao ate a cupcake that Kui made for Zhou Jing and topping it with the red bean.
Bai Xiao had an almost instantaneous paralysis.
Si Chen was about to kill Bai Xiao but Kui was upset about it. Then the tree demon turned up and tried to strangle both Kui and Si Chen. Nan Jiao suddenly turned up and heard that Bai Xiao had swallowed the red bean. She was rather chuffed about it because she had to kiss him deeply to suck out the red bean out of him.
But Bai Xiao was not having it, Kui was about to do it but the tree demon got to her first, then Si Chen snogged Bai Xiao. LOL
Bai Xiao is more animated. He got the tree demon.
