Episode 1
Chen Baojin came to look for a job at the Sumo Goldfield as a gold panner. He met Zhao Zhengli who was rather sceptical that Baojin was really serious about gold panning as it is a hard job even for the strongmem.
Zhao Zhengli said that Baojin is too fair, to begin with.
Baojin said that he was just naturally pale. He realised soonest that what Zhengli said was correct because they had not even started panning for gold and the situation already got tougher when the older employees decided to give them a baptism by fire by asking Zhengli and Baojin to take off the shoes of the leader.
The leader’s feet stunk. It was rotting from being constantly submerged in water and wet shoes. Anyway, Zhengli and Baojin’s predicament got even worse when a fight was started.
Anyway, Wu Jianchao, their manager and owner of the goldmine told them that he will not tolerate insubordination and in-infightings.
The next night, Baojin decided to go into the mine but he was seen by Old Wai, who knew who Baojin was.
Baojin said that he had to know what happened to his brother.
Old Wai said that as they had told Baojin’s family, his brother fell on the cliff.
Baojin said that he would only believe his brother died if he sees his body.
While Baojin was away from his bunk, a cross-dressing girl, A Lai searched Baojin’s belongings. She found a journal.
The journal had Baojin and his brother’s photo together.
