Bistek Tagalog Recipe
My mother makes the best bistek. I love the sauce that she makes to go with the beef steak. Soy sauce with a good spritz of calamsi or lemon juice enhanced by black peppers, fragrant garlc and soften onions which were cut in rings.
The sauce is as delicious as the meat. The combination of the soy sauce and calamansi really make the beef extra special. This is a favourite Sunday lunch.
Bistek (Filipino Style Beef Steak)

1 large onion, sliced into rings

- Tenderise the beef steak with a wooden mallet.

- Lower down the heat and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until meat is tender. Add water as needed.
- Add the stir-fried onions.
- Salt to taste.
Serve hot with boiled or fried rice. Or better yet, some steam vegetable such as savoy cabbage which has an extra crunch.
