Do Sang Woo as Jang Woo Sang (Rich Boyfriend of Bake Seung-Ah)
Kwon Soo-Hyun as Eom Cho Rong
Synopsis:
It is a psycho-romantic drama.
Episode 1 – 2
I have to say, South Korea is bringing all the big guns this October.
We are almost spoilt for choice with all the watchable and well-made dramas that are currently on show.
This drama especially has that cat and mouse storyline about it that promises to be an edge on the seat feel. If it remains faithful to the Japanese version then this would have a rather sad ending, sadly.
The three main leads are brilliant in portraying their respective roles. I have always been a fan of Jung So-Min since Playful Kiss. She is maturing into a very watchable and versatile actress.
Seo In Guk is gorgeous as a rather creepy Moo Young.
Park Sung Woong is so believable as an over-protective, though chill, brother to Jung So Min’s character.
The story goes that Moo Young, though still a young man, has been around. He had affected the lives of many people even as a boy.
He is so charismatic that you cannot help but be drawn to him. He is a very good-looking guy who is very professional as a brewery technician. He has a killer dimpled smile that somehow does not reach his gorgeous eyes which makes him look very enigmatic at the same time he has a childlike/boyish cuteness (probably this is more because of the actor rather than his role).
Part of his appeal was his ability to anticipate what was needed doing or the help he can provide to people, which engages and intrigues everyone, he meets.
Including Yoo Jin Kang, who was on a blind date set up by her brother, Yoo Jin-Gook. Her blind date was going well with Cho Rong when a waiter accidentally spilt sauce and drinks all over her blazer, which she took off and thereby flashing a huge burnt mark her right arm. Moo Young was immediately there covering her shoulders with his hoodie.
Later on, we see that Moo Young has a shower scene. Hurrah!!! Yip Yip Hooray!!! The camera then focuses on his back and he has a large burnt mark on his shoulder.
There was a young beautiful artist, Baek Seung-ah, who was nervous at holding her first exhibition, knowing that some of the pieces on display were not her own work. Moo-Young, who was catering the beers and ales for the show had heard her conversation with her ‘boyfriend’ who was financing the show. told her that she must not try to pretend that the works were hers.
But she can’t really go against her very controlling boyfriend who was sponsoring her. To help her out Moo-Young purposely bumped into the boyfriend, who then knocked the contentious display.
Baek Seung-ah was so grateful with Moo-Young and felt drawn to him. Before long she was his girlfriend and she tried to break off with her rich boyfriend, who would not let her go but told her to have her relationship with the Moo Young but ensure not to sleep with him.
Baek Seung-Ah is best friend with Yoo Jin Kang. They met up one day and Baek Seung-Ah introduced her new boyfriend to Jin Kang. It was Moo-Young. Jin Kang pretended at first not to know him but Moo Young said not to be so formal as they have met several times and this is their fourth meeting.
It seems that they lived in the same neighbourhood. Jin Kang spotted him and quickly returned home to fetch Moo-Young’s hoodie to give it back to him. They got talking and Jin Kang asked him why he said that they had met four times before when she could only recall three times.
Moo Young said that they met a long, long, long time ago. She was like the cute little sister that he had lost.
Jin Kang was on her first date with Chong Ro in the movies when she saw Moo Young also on a date with a woman, Im Yoo-ri. She knows that he is a player.
Yoo Jin Gook was driving when he was momentarily distracted almost causing to run oven Moo-Young and his cat.
Jin Gook was all concerned and offered Moo Young to take him to the hospital. Moo Young declined, saying he was unharmed. Jin Gook then offered him a lift home.
Moo Young asked Jin Gook if he carries a gun. Jin Gook said that he was not that kind of policeman. Moo Young though asked if he can use a gun, Jin Gook said that he does as it is part of his training. Moo Young continued with his questioning. He wanted to know whether Jin Gook had shot anyone or killed anyone before, after all being a long time policeman he must have had instances when he had to use a gun. Their interaction was amazing.
As we get to know the characters, there is also an underlying story where a girl has supposedly jumped to her death from her apartment’s window.
Though initially, it looks like a suicide, Jin Gook is thinking otherwise because of some inconsistencies.
Episode 3
The investigation regarding the suicide girl is ongoing, though they have arrested the girl’s boyfriend it looks like that he could be innocent.
Seung Ah’s mother had found out that her daughter is dating Moo Young behind Woo Sang. She warned Moo Young to stop as Woo Sang is rather scary, she shouldn’t upset him.
Woo Sang had told Seung Ah that he was officially introducing her to his parents in view of a marriage. But during the dinner, Seung Ah was a no-show as she went to see Moo Young instead and they had sex inside the brewery.
Despite dating Seung Ah, Moo Young is still flirtatious. He was beginning to flirt with Jin Kang.
Her brother, Jin Gook, warned Jin Kang not to get involved with Moo Young as he is bad news. Jin Kang said that she’s not interested in Moo Young and he was already dating her best friend, Seung Ah.
Jin Gook was very surprised at this turn of event. Jin Kang further detailed that Seung Ah was very impressed with Moo Young. She thinks that he was a genius. He remembered precisely where each bead should go when her bracelet broke and each bead fell on the floor.
Moo-Young picked the beads one by one and rethreaded it in perfect order.
This declaration rung an alarm bell with Jin Gook. He immediately remembers the order of the snowglobes in the suicide girl’s apartment.
Is Moo Young the killer?
Episode 4
Jin Kang got between Seung Ah and her mother and she got slapped by the mother for her trouble.
Despite being slapped, Seung Ah continued to beg her to be the go between between her and Moo Young as she had been grounded by her mother.
Moo Young and Jin Kang had lunch together over a hotpot. They sort of bonded and exchange childhood history which was heard by a jealous Yoo-Ri.
Yoo-Ri purposely tried to run over Jin Kang, fortunately, Jin Gook was there to save his sister.
Episode 5
Jin Gook and Jin Kang took the collapsed Yoo-Ri to the hospital. They were told that Yoo-Ri was in no immediate danger.
Jin Kang had pulled a ligament and she had to wear an arm support.
They called Moo Young for him to contact Yoo-Ri’s family but when turned up at the hospital he was more concerned about Jin Kang.
Jin Gook had a look at the SD card of Yoo Ri’s car’s blackbox and found that Yoo-ri purposely went for Jin Kang.
Moo Young confessed to Jin Kang, telling her to go out with him because he likes her.
Jin Kang of course blow him out. She was actually annoyed with him because he should be thinking of Seung-Ah who adores him mindlessly.
Seung-Ah had put her studio for sale. She needed the money to fund her plan of running away with Moo Young.
Moo Young, however, does not have plans of going with her.
Becasue of Seung-Ah, Moo-Young lost his job at the brewery where Woo Sang, a valued customer, uses his influence to get Moo Young fired.
I have to say Moo Young and Jin Kang are just too darn cute together! I hope I am not going to regret saying this in terms of how the story goes.
Can’t wait for next week episode.
I have to confess, I found the above drama so intriguing and knowing that it was based on a Japanese 2002 drama, what can I do?!!!
I love thriller books, especially about serial killer stories. If I can’t finish the book in one sitting, then I have to know the ending and proceed to the ending. The husband can’t understand this habit at all. He said I lose the element of surprise if I read the ending before I finish the whole book. Well I need sleep more than the element of surprise. I would lie in bed thinking who the killer might be and won’t be able to go to sleep.
It is the same case with this drama. I googled the synopsis of the Japanese drama and here is what I found.
DO NOT READ FROM HERE ON! MEGA SPOILERS!!!
(Hopefully, the KDrama is not a faithful remake 🙂 !!!)
Miwa (Baek Seung-Ah) was being forced to marry the rich and influential Kashiwagi Naoya (Jang Woo Sang) by her family but she finds him rather controlling and perverted. With the thought that she would get together with Ryo (Moo Young) without the hindrance of Kashiwagi, Miwa killed Kashiwagi.
But it was too late for her and Ryo as he had fallen deeply in love with Dojima Yuko (Jin Kang) who was almost killed by Yuki (Im Yoo-Ri) who was revealed to be the killer of the college/suicide girl because she thought that she was also sleeping with Ryo.
Ryo wanted to reconstruct his fragmented memory and in so doing remembered the faith of his father.
When Dojima Kanzo (Jin Gook) was a young policeman, through inexperience, shot and killed a murderer. He was Katase Ryo’s (Moo-Young) father.
Further memory shocked him to the core. Yuko is his real sister, who he already slept with.
Kashiwagi had a sister, who was bent on finding what had happened to her brother. Her investigation also found out about Kanzo, Yuko and Ryo.
To show Yuko that he was evil and not at all good for her and to hate him, he killed Kashiwagi’s sister.
He then went on the run as his crime was all over the news.
Yuko learned from Ryo’s friend that he was after Kanzo for killing his father.
Yuko went to Kanzo’s house and found Ryo lying in wait. Yuko ended up killing Ryo. Heartbroken, she found a letter on Ryo’s pocket detailing their real relationship that they were siblings.
She then dragged Ryo’s body into the marina and then into a boat and set sail in the middle of the sea.
Kanzo was hot in pursuit. As he neared them, Yuko in a Romeo and Juliet genre, clutched Ryo tightly to herself and shot herself.
Apparently, Miwa got killed as well.
With all the body counts, this drama is sure interesting.
One thing though, there are some obvious dissimilarities between the Dorama and KDrama.
For one thing, Moo Young (Ryo) seemed to have the talent for the photographic memory rather than Yuki (the killer girl) Moo Young was able to put together that beaded bracelet he gave to Baek seung-ah when it fell apart. In the Dorama, Kanza (Jin Gook) gave the bracelet to Miwa because he has a crush on her.
I am 75% sure that KDrama will not go down the road towards incest town. They’ll stopped before crossing over. The Japanese never shy away from this kind of topics.
The premise is so interesting with So Ji Sub in the lead who will play as a NIS agent, who will help his neighbour find the truth about the untimely death of her husband.
Basing from the two episodes I watched last night, I think this drama will be a super duper, fun filled, exciting story.
Yes, So Ji Sub is back in his most gorgeous persona and is the male lead and added to that are Jung In Sun, Son Ho-Jun of Go back Couple, and Im Se-Me of About Time.
APOLOGIES BUT THIS REVIEW WILL BE FULL OF SPOILERS. Please do not read on if you wanted to be surprised to the limit when watching the drama.
Episode 1 – 2
Kim Bon woke up from an action-packed nightmare which he ended up being shot in the back, then we see his back bearing the scars; the nightmare was once a reality.
Meanwhile, it was a chaotic morning at the house opposite his apartment on the same block of flats. There lived Go Ae Rin and her husband with their hyperactive six years old twins.
Most of the time the twins are out of control, they cause untold headaches for Go Ae Rin (and the viewers, I must add).
One such instance was when they prod her with something in her backside that so surprised her, she accidentally bumped into Kim Bon, who was returning from his jog, and gave him a nosebleed.
Kim Bon did not know what to make of the ditsy woman with her naughty twins.
But from then on they seemed to see each other at various places in town, including at a building, where Kim Bon had followed his suspect.
He heard Go Ae Rin talking to someone on the phone, somehow she reminded him so much of Candy, the girl he was protecting and had a relationship with three years ago back in Poland.
Go ae Rin was telling her mother that she will take her to the Namsan Tower for a mojito, exactly what he remembered Candy once said to him.
Go Ae Rin was in the building because she just had a job interview with J International. Jin Young-Tae, the CEO, completely humiliated her by saying she was unsuitable as she was not only married but has children as well, she should not be joining the workforce.
On her way out she bumped into a man, who she did not know was the chief of NIS.
Go Ae Rin was in a doldrum because she used to be so good at IT.
She has a gang of friends, who were internet and gadget savvy They support each other. They said that IT is something that you can’t just put down and then pick up again as it continuously evolving.
While she was being commiserated by her friends, her evil twins did their worst in the bakery. Go Ae Rin had to pay $100 dollars for the cakes the twins corrupted. This did not go well with her husband who instantaneously gets notification of spending on their cards.
Her husband was so annoyed when he got home, especially seeing that the house was a tip, toys, clothes and unwashed dishes and crockery everywhere.
Go Ae Rin was equally annoyed telling her husband that she had been working all day looking after their children, etc. She does not spend money on herself, she had not bought anything for herself in ages.
With this Go Ae Rin decided to leave the house but dropped her purse which was found by Kim Bon.
Kim Bon persuaded her to return to her house. The next morning she found her husband had left some money for her to spend on herself.
Unfortunately, she did not see him alive again. She was told that he had a heart attack. On the same day, the NSI chief was murdered.
Go Ae Rin’s husband was a witness of the murder of the chief, thus he became a victim himself by the assassin.
During the funeral of the chief, which was also at the same time as the funeral of Go Ae Rin’s husband, Kim Bon was hunted by the NIS team. Apparently, Kim Bon, code name Terius, is a renegade agent.
I love the scene when the assassin tried to kidnap the twins. Go Ae Rin’s friends, a sort of neighbourhood watch and call themselves KIS, went on red alert. With the help of their mobile phones and social media, they were able to coordinate with all the moms and others in their neighbourhood. Within minutes, they knew the exact location of the twins and the assassin/kidnapper. They cornered him and the twins were saved but the assassin got away.
Kim Bon ended up near where the KIS were gathering. He noticed the face of the kidnapper.
in order to monitor Go Ae Rin, Jin Young-Tae who is implicated with the assassination hired Go Ae Rin to work as his secretary.
Go Ae Rin, therefore, needed a babysitter for her kids. Kim Bon volunteered saying that he could do with the money.
Really exciting stuff.
Episode 3
Kim Bon is the perfect babysitter. He knows how to tire out the hyper twins so they go to bed early. Kim Bon also finds that Go Ae Rin seems to be able to read him like a book.
This drama is getting more taut and thrilling as it progresses. I was wondering why I heard that it has low rating in SK. It actually beggars belief that it is not so popular.
Anyway, there is more progress with Go Ae Rin’s husband’s death. The King Castle (KIS) now know that he might not have died of just a straightforward heart attack. In fact they found a CCTV of him being chased by the man in black, who Kim Bon said to himself was called the Magician.
The NW correctly surmised that perhaps they should look for the husband’s car’s black box SD card. Kim Bon was a few steps ahead of them and got to the car already and took out the SD card.
From it, he knew that Go Ae Rin’s husband was a witness to the murder of the NIS chief and he also found out that it was carried out by the Magician, who then killed Go Ae Rin’s husband.
He was babysitting one day when he was spotted by Yoo Ji-Yeon, a NIS agent. They arranged to have coffee together where Terius mentioned about the assassination of the chief and he advised that there was a witness, which he cannot reveal yet. He said that he was sure that there is a mole within the NIS.
I really love this drama not only because of So Ji Sub but there is light relief in this thriller and is intelligently scripted. My only concern is that they should give Go Ae Rin extra more brain cells. You do not bring your demonic children to work no matter how crucial the situation was. Especially when there are many expensive handbags on show.
Son Ho Jun was adorably evil as Jin Young Tae, Go Ae Rin’s boss. His comic timing is just so perfect. I am not sure if he is really evil as he has so much redeeming traits.
Episode 4
I have to admit that this drama is just the most thrilling. This episode is top-notch. I can’t recommend it enough.
Ae Ri was at the end of her tether as she may have to sell her apartment to pay for the costly bag. She asked the help of the NW to which Kim Bon had become a member of. Kim Bon had also ask Ji-Yeon to find out about J International as well as its CEO.
Ji Yeon’s findings cleared the company and the CEO but the NW group said otherwise. Their group meeting is fantastic, everyone is contributing something and they have plausible inputs like Tae Young, the boss has a new face, the handbag is fake, etc.
Anyway, Ae Ri revealed to the NW that there is a secret room in their office. She was advised if she can get in there and perhaps find out something about the bag.
As luck would have it, her boss is away and gone to Milan. So Ae Ri, against Kim Bon’s advice, went to the office to try and crack the digital lock of the secret room. After many trials, she was able to open it. The room was full of bags with no obvious branding but just a series of number in each one. She copied them and entered them in the computer which opened a file with more serial numbers.
At that moment Kim Bon was with JI-Yeon watching the new NIS chief going to a restaurant. Kim Bon was surprised to see that he was meeting Ae Ri’s boss, who was supposed to be in Milan.
Kim Bon left Ji Yeon to watch over the NIS Chief and the CEO while he hurried to Star Building to get Ae Ri.
But Ae Ri was just too nosy to listen to him, while Kim Bon cannot really give her a really valid answer to make her leave the building immediately so randomly he confessed to her that he misses her. So cute. (But for goodness’ sake her husband is not even dead five minutes, I have not seen her really cry for him yeat.)
But still, Ae Ri went to the funeral home and inquire about the man she bumped into when she first went for an interview with J International.
She then called Kim Bon about what she found out that she met the NIS chief just outside the J International Offices. While still talking on the phone, Ae Ri was abducted by men in a black van.
Episode 5
Seriously this drama is the best yet of 2018. The script is well formulated with well-rounded characters from the main leads to the supporting ones.
There is a feel that they had fun making the drama.
Anyway, Go Ae Rin was indeed kidnapped by Young Tae men.
Young Tae found out that Go Ae Rin entered the forbidden room and took photos of the different bags.
Upon questioning Go Ae Rin blurted out the truth about wanting to find out more about the bag she ruined, etc.
Her story was so simple and convincing that Young Tae was satisfied. I am pretty sure that he would have let her go but Kim Bon was there to the rescue. In the end, she did not know that was there except for the bodies littering the vicinity of the warehouse they kept her locked in.
Young Tae let her go but fired her at the same time.
I have to mention how gorgeous Kim Bon was as he strode while lit by the headlights towards the lady in distress, Go Ae Rin. Gorgeous this scene, reminiscent of Kim Shin & the Reaper in Goblin and Jiang Chen in A Love So Beautiful.
Kim Bon had arranged a new job for Go Ae Rin at the KIng’s Bag. She was meant to be just to stand around at the shop as they don’t really want o sell any of the bags as there were cover accessories for the NIS.
But Go Ae Rin is such a good worker that she enlisted the help of the NW to promote the shop. Within days everything is sold out.
Young Tae misses her especially when he saw all the charts she constructed regarding his diet/lunch. He went to see and offer her her job back but she turned him down.
Kim Bon had to reveal to Ji Yeon that Go Ae Rin was the wife of the dead witness.
The mole at the NIS had ordered the Go Ae Rin should be taken care off.
I think the mole is actually the Ji Yeon’s trusted boss rather than the lady boss at NIS.
Anyway, Terius knew something was about to happen and run towards Go Ae Rin and wrestled her to the ground much to the shock of the mothers whose children had just boarded the school bus.
Episode 6
Young Tae has been reaching out to Go Ae Rin. He even bought the entire bag collection at King’s Bag so Ae Rin gets a huge commission as a compensation for not giving her a severance pay.
But Young Tae met Bon, the babysitter, which interested him. He did not like that the sitter looks almost proprietorial towards the kids and Go Ae Rin.
To create friction between boon and Go Ae Rin, he had Kim Bon investigated and got his ‘real name’ as Wang Jeong Nam, who has a police record of six convictions, mostly for burglary.
Kim Bon unknowingly gifted Go Ae Rin with a beautiful bag, the same bag that used to be the star window display at King’s Bag, which Ji Yeon told her was stolen by a burglar.
She confronted Kim Bon about being Wang Jeong Nam, which Bon denied that he was him. What he said was that his real name is Kim Bon.
Episode 7
Go Ae Rin had to let go Bon as her sitter. Bon was even sadder than usual. He had really grown very fond of the two monster kids. He even turned his spy/sleeper house into a playroom.
Despite letting go of Bom, Go Ae Rin’s curiosity is left unabated. In fact, her curiosity superseded her role as the only remaining parent to her twins. She willingly risks her health and life to find out some answers to issues that niggles her about Bon.
One thing about Go Ae Rin, she has a vivid imagination. She thinks Bon could be a gorgeous policeman, an assassin/mercenary or 007 from NIS.
She just had to know. So she broke into King’s Bag and tried to locate a room, she was sure existed within the building.
Go Ae Rin git into the NIS secret basement hideaway quite easily and thus, caught Bon, Ji Yeon, and Ra Do Woo.
Bon went to hug the surprised Ae Rin.
Episode 8
Ae Ri finally confirmed to herself that her King’s Bag boss and the assistant manager were NIS agents. Bon was also a NiS agent.
The NIS headed by Kwon Yeong Sil hunted down Kim Bon until they cornered him by the bridge. He was asked to surrender but he said that he has something to find out first.
As he was jumping off the bridge, a sniper, the Magician, shot him on the shoulder.
Is Kim Bon dead?
Episode 9
Kim Bon was shot by the sniper in the middle of dozens of NiS agents, who then went to find his falling body on the river.
Ae Rin was a lot quicker, she got to the car and drove it like a Formula 1 driver. This is amazing considering she can barely drive just last week. LOL.
Ae Rin is not only a Lewis Hamilton but actually was an expert diver. She could teach the Little Mermaid a thing or two about swimming and zoning their target.
Kim Bon definitely owed his life to Ae Rin. Even the Lady Boss said that she sees Ae Rin in a new light. She then tasked Ae Rin to look after Kim Bon until he is well.
Kim Bon with his ever-present pocket telescope saw a man in black suit was on surveillance duty, obviously watching Ae Rin and the children.
So while Ae Rin and the children were out Kim Bon decided to leave them in order to protect them.
Ae Rin was very concerned but Kim Bon left a candy in her Yakult delivery bag that says I am watching you. She then felt reassured.
Young Tae, meanwhile, has become a fugitive from the law; he had been blamed in the killing of his personal bodyguard and driver.
He also noticed that the Magician was after him.
He contacted Ae Rin and begged her to help him. He said that he would like to get in touch with Kim Bon as he was the only one he trusts.
He then gave her a little note to pass to Kim Bon.
They were to meet by a telephone box at exactly 10 p.m. but the Magician got to Young Tae first and stabbed him.
He was bleeding profusely and on the point of passing out when Kim Bon arrived.
Young Tae begged him to help him.
Kim Bon said he would as he was his ticket in clearing his name.
It seems this will be the start of a bromance between these two.
Nice.
Seriously, no other drama can touch Terius, despite some glaring discontinuities. The action, the thrill and excitement more than make for it. Love it.
Episode 10
This episode gave the backstory for Young Tae. He was once an innocent man, who worked really, really hard to earn his money.
Unfortunately, he lost all his money with a scammer.
With bitterness, he started conning people as well. At first he felt guilty but the more he did it, the guilt lessen until be became an expert con-man.
He was an ace at scamming that he became well known. He was on his way home one night when he was kidnapped and before he knew what was truly happening, he was given a complete make-over involving plastic surgery.
He woke up a different person and forced to work for a seedy organisation, J International, that assassinate people if need be.
Young Tae wanted protection from Kim Bon and would cooperate with him to bring down the corrupt member of the NIS.
I love the part when the KIS was helping out Bong Sun Mi with find out whether her husband was really having an affair with a Korean woman who only speaks in English.
It was hilarious to find out that Shim Eun Ha was only pretending to be an able English speaker. She was brilliant at everything else though.
Bong Sun Mi’s husband might not be having an affair but he was even worst. He was a trained assassin and he is part of a mission to spread a virus that would kill instantaneously.
At the end of the drama, there was a race against time to stop a biological ‘bomb’ to go off at the school where KIS children were attending. Ae Rin was running like a gold medalist in a track and field while Kim Bon was driving his sports car worthy of a Formula 1 aficionado towards the school to save the twins.
Episode 11
Bon died in a car explosion.
Episode 12
Of course Bon can’t die. He surfaced back in Jeju Island, where Ae Rin temporarily moved with her children to be near her mother, her parents.
Bon appeared to Ae Rin at Jeju Island and they had a lovely family time. He then told Ae Rin that he will be going back to Seoul and wrap up everything and clear his name. He made her promised to stay put where they are with her children until he gets back.
Ae Rin got a call from her realtor that he had found a buyer for her apartment and they were ready to exchange contract.
Ae Rin had to go back home to Seoul to deal with her house sale.
While in Seoul, she was contacted by Eun Ha who told her that she found a memory stick under the bed of her daughter,
It clicked immediately that it could be the missing memory stick Bon had been looking for. She asked Eun Ha to meet up at her house.
Unfortunately a listening device sticker was also found under the bed so the Magician heard everything and was ready and waiting to take the memory stick from the unsuspecting Eun Ha by force.
Episode 13
Ae Rin found Eun Ha collapsed near her apartment. They later found out that the memory stick was gone.
Young Tae went back to Kim Bon’s hide-out and was so happy and overwhelmed that Bon/brother was alive. Bon was not happy at first as he thought that Young Tae had squealed to the enemies but he was quickly assured that he was still carrying out their plans to get the Voice and his cohorts.
Young Tae’s strategy came through, he was called by the Voice and wanted all the bags with the codes.
Young Tae told the Voice that he was welcome to all of them but they had to meet face to face.
Everyone was shocked to find out that the man behind the Voice was the Home Secretary.
Bon and the King’s Bag team decided that they need to get into the Voice’s house as they are sure he was keeping secret documents in his well-fortified mansion.
Ji Yeon told Ae Rin that her husband was a collateral damage from the death of the NIS chief.
For the first time Ae Rin really mourned her dead husband. She was in a very sad state which was taken advantaged of by Yi Jeon. She asked Ae Rin to pose as a cook and apply for a job at the Home Secretary’s house.
It was very hard to get the job as the butler/housekeeper was very exacting and may have had a Russian KGB training.
KIS was a brilliant help by creating a profile of the housekeeper. They expertly able to pinpoint her weak point.
Episode 14
omg! This is one exciting episode.
They were able to get to the well-guarded room with Bon having to pretend as an IT guy who came to fix their broadband/wifi.
He managed to open the sophisticated digital safe and gotten back the memory stick as well as the list that corresponds to the code written on the bag from J International.
Unfortunately for Bon, it did not go smooth sailing as there was an internal alarm in the safe.
He got away from the house but not for long as the K the Magician suddenly materialised. He shot Bon in the arm. Ae Rin was going insane but Bon told her to calm down and gave her the bag with the documents and told her to keep it safe.
Ae Rin runs to safety but she heard a gunshot.
Episodes 15 &16
I purposely waited for episode 16 to be subbed before watching 15 and 16 back to back and I think that is the only way to do it for maximum excitement.
The adrenaline filled episodes were worthy ending for this top-notched drama. The music score also added so much intensity and anticipation to this thriller.
The ending, though given a satisfying conclusion is crying for a season 2. Not for the romance but for more interaction with the cast and characters.
The KIS deserves a drama of their own.
Ok, a quick synopsis which is laden with so much spoiler, so please think twice before proceeding further on…
Bon was down in the ground and K was about to shoot him with his silencer, when Young Sil, the boss lady of NIS stopped K, though they managed to would him, he got away.
Bon was taken to the hospital under heavy guard.
Ji Yeon helped to smuggle Ae Rin into the hospital and gave the documents back to Bon.
Ji Yeon then went to Woo Cheol to pass the documents to him.
It then turns out that the spy within the NIS is none other than Woo Cheol himself.
Ji Yeon actually did not bring the documents with her because she started doubting her boss and quite right too.
On her way back to the hospital, while on the phone to Bon telling him about her suspicion, she was run over by a car.
Bon quickly dressed up in his gorgeous all black suit uniform which means action is about to happen.
Events quickly unravel and Young Sil, the boss lady has told Bon that he is back in the fold, he is now above suspicion.
Woo Cheol and the Home Secretary were the spies in the Government. They are members of Cornerstone group, which is spying network around the world. They were proved to be quite wily as they have people working for them in all branches of the government and aiding and abetting them.
The NIS turned to Young Tae to help locate their safe house.
Meanwhile, the KIS were made busy with the appearance of K in their locality. With full force from King Castle’s ladies and gent, they surrounded K and watched him taken to the police station. However, the police were not interested so K was able to scape very easily.
Young Tae got the call from the Home Secretary telling him that their mission to go to Switzerland was still happening.
Bon told him not to go. He promised Young Tae a new identity once the mission has been wrapped up.
Young Tae, however, said he was ready to do his bit.
It was actually a suicide mission because Young Tae was a target by a shooter. This was so sad when Bon was visibly upset while cradling the bleeding Young Tae telling him not to sleep. Their bromance was really lovely.
They finally located Woo Cheol and the Home Secretary who were on their way to China by ship/boat. They got them well and good.
A month later, Bon and Ae Rin were visiting Young Tae in a columbarium, telling him to rest in peace.
Then Bon was sent abroad for a mission. A year later, he shot dead K in Poland.
Ae Rin is working again for King’s Bag, whose boss is now Young Sil, who happened to have moved to Kings Castle. The KIS ladies and gent were immediately on her face to invite her to become a member of KIS.
Meanwhile, Ji Yeon and Ra Doo came back from their holiday from Iceland. They are both ready to resume their duties. Ji Yeon is all healed. Young Sil noticed immediately that they have something going on.
To the fans of Young Tae, who I am one. Hurrah. He was not dead. He was given a new identity and he is now working as a barista in his own coffee shop.
Young Sil has a mission for Ae Rin. She was to meet someone at the Namsan Tower and has to pass to him a briefcase.
The man she was to meet was the gorgeous Bon and when they opened the briefcase, it contained plane tickets to New York and a Tiffany & Co ring box containing wedding rings. Their mission is Breakfast in Tifanny where had to pretend as husband and wife.
I really really like this drama because it feels like it is a step ahead of what I was thinking. To tell the truth, I am old school. I was a bit aghast for Bon and Ae Rin to get together right after her husband had just been murdered. But they assuaged my concern by waiting at least a year before Bon started flirting outrageously with Ae Rin.
Totally recommend this drama. One of my top 5 KDramas for 2018.
Toongkamanee Duangta as Malinee (Nok’s grandmother)
Phanthumchinda Pitchapa as Penny
Synopsis:
A spoilt heiress faced with divorcing parents while forced to marry a distant cousin.
Episode 1
Nok, after studying abroad, came home to surprise her parents. Instead, Nok got the shock of her life when she found out that her parents got divorced very recently.
Her father comes across as very loving, very caring while her mother is sophisticated and rather feisty. Nok blamed her mother for the divorce but she was quickly put to right by her mother, who told her that her father wanted the divorce as he had fallen in love with Miss Thailand, Khae, and wanted to marry her.
Added to the equation is her distant cousin from her mother side, Nai, who she took to disliking. She thought he was a bit of usurper, forcing himself into her family.
Nok created so much havoc that Nai was there for the damage limitation.
Nok even allowed her parents to think that she was suicidal.
Her actions did have some effect as her father was forced to choose her over his girlfriend, Khae, who he was about to marry in a couple of months time.
Nok also prevailed in having her mother move back into the family house.
However, she did not get everything she wanted as Nai was also asked to move in for decorum sake as the Nok’s parents are already divorced.
It seems Khae and Nai have a romantic past together.
Episode 2
Nok was so upset that her father gave the position of the Vice President of the company to Nai instead of to her
Episode 3
Nok’s mother introduced her to a potential suitor, Wongwet but it did not pan out that way as Penny, the servant daughter seduced Wongwet.
Episode 4
Poor Penny’s mother was caught in the middle between Thawat’s family and her daughter.
Penny was snubbed by Khae so the vengeful Penny gave an interview saying that Khae was destroying a family. When the interviewer asked how she was related to Thawat’s family, she insinuated that she was another daughter of Thawat.
All hell broke loose and her mother went to see her and they had some upsetting words. In the end they said that they are no longer mother and daughter.
Awww, Nai really adores Nok. He said he’s always been there looking out for her! So cute.
They were at the recycling centre when piles of boxes fell where he Nai last saw Nok. He was so scared, he removed the boxes one by one until he was advised that Nok was ok and behind him. Nai run to her and gave her a big, big hug! Awww
It has a cute ending. Everyone was partnered off. Thawit and Khae got married and had a baby daughter. Nai and Nok finally cleared their many games and misunderstandings. They also have a baby boy, they both love. As to Visaka, Nok’s mother, she had the best fortune. She ended up having a romantic relationship with a doctor, yep the gorgeous Wongwet became her toyboy!
As to the horrid grandma, she had changed her tune and loved Nok and Nai after they presented her with a great-grandson, Non.
It is about cross-dressing and double-crossing into love. 🙂
Wow, a few episodes are now available on Netflix so watch this space. OMG I am such a rooting couch potato these days. There so many Chinese dramas to watch and Korean as well.
I have seen a brief trailer of this drama and it really looked interesting.
Episode 1
I have to say that the little girl who played a young Jiang Sheng is the cutest little child. Her acting wasn’t bad as well. The little boy Liang Sheng and their friend were both good little actors.
Jiang Sheng lives with her mother, who looks like the mistress of her father.
Her father does not have much them with them as she appears rather starved of a father’s attention. While she was playing with the neighbourhood children, they saw a factory blowing up in smoke.
Her mother went to the evacuation centre to look for her father. He was badly wounded and next to him was a boy just a year older than Jiang Sheng. Apparently, they were there with the child’s mother who was a reporter but died in the accident.
Jiang Sheng’s mother took the boy home and introduced him to Jiang Sheng as Liang Sheng, her biological brother.
The boy was very sad and would cry himself to sleep. Little Jiang Sheng got into his protective shell. Before long they were inseparable.
When the father got out of the hospital, he treated the children differently, favouring Liang Sheng.
Liang Sheng noticed and he made up for it with Jiang Sheng. He often gave her the choice food that was usually given to him as a treat.
As years passed they couldn’t be more loving siblings to one another.
