- It should be interesting to see if the chemistry between the leads is really combustible as they are rumoured to be dating for real.
Episode 1
This drama is giving me deja vu. Both the leads have just been into dramas that have the same characters quite recently.
Wang Churan played a surgeon in Love Heals.
Yang Yang’s Song Yan’s recollection of his past seemed to have been lifted from his other drama, Glory of the Special Forces.
Anyway, gorgeous Zhang BinBin is also in the drama but it might not be for long because his character was already filling a transfer form.
Anyway, Song Yan is a firefighter who got hurt during a job, he was brought into the hospital by his workmates still in firefighter suits.
It seemed the hospital is only one-doctor clinic because they found Xu Qin who was about to make a pot noodle after a rigorous surgery.
The men asked her to examine their colleague but then Song Yan stared at her for a long minute and then decided that he no longer needed a doctor.
By this time, Xu Qin twigged that she knew the firefighter even if half of his face is covered. She run aftter him but he told his men to just drive on.
The next time they saw each other was when there was a fire in the vicinity of her apartment building. Being the only doctor in town, she immediately put on her whitest shirt to try to help out the fire victim.
Song Yan tried to stop her but she told him she was a doctor. He told her to follow him. While she was resuscitating a young girl, Song Yang was almost blown out. But of course, he was ok because it would have been stupid if he died in the first episode🤣🤣🤣.
Anyway, Suo Jun was annoyed with Song Yan’s gung-ho attitude for not following orders. But Song Yan apologised and reassured Suo Jin that he was ok.
Later on, while Song Yan was in the shower, he remembered the first time he met Xu Qin. It was in high school.
Episode 2
Meeting Song Yan again made Xu Qin visit their memory lane. She was missing him, missing the way he made her feel alive.
She did go try to get in contact by going to his old house where his family live. But his sister and aunt told her to bugger off. They remember how she screwed up Song Yan so badly and told her never to darken their doorsteps again.
At the moment, her life is rather empty. Even as a doctor, she is not fulfilled because her influential background makes her a source of malicious envy.
Meanwhile, Song Yan did notice her but was determined to stay away from her.
Because Xu Qin is always the only available doctor in the hospital, she always bumps into the firefighters who seemed to get injured at the drop of a hat.
At the hospital, Song Yan shows his moody side profile good looks.
Episode 3
Xu Qin was so desperate to see Song Yan, she was almost stalking him. But Song Yan would rather be with the dog, Meng, despite Suo Jun telling him to go see Xu Qin. He ignored Suo JIn but when Xu Qin finally left, Song Yan did look at her with longing in his eyes.
They met again when he had to rescue her when there was a flash flood in a tunnel. She was trapped inside her car under fast-rising water.
She called emergency service and as luck would have it, there are some firefighters nearby and even more fortunate, the person who pulled her car from the flood who was unmindful of giving himself hernia was Song Yan.
He took her out of her car and carried her to safety.
Xu Qin took her chance and tried to hug him intimately so he dropped her on the ground.
Episode 4
Xu Qin is not having a good break at the hospital. The chief does not like her despite her obvious competence. He finds her cold.
Xu Qin’s juniors were worrying that because of this trouble with the chief, he might not recommend her for the research team.
She does not really care because she thought she had more important things on her mind. She was beginning to really obsessed with Song Yan. She cast away her pride and asked him to make up.
Song Yan told her that she was long gone from his heart.
But again, they met again in the hospital. She had to remove debris from his back because she is really the only doctor in the hospital. She was always on duty.
Episode 5
Li Meng came to help Song Yan get dressed which made Xu Qin rather jealous. So when Li Meng left to get some dry footwear for Song Yan, Xu Qin asked Song Yan if Li Meng is his girlfriend.
Song Yan told her that it has nothing to do with her but Xu Qin thinks otherwise.
In his fury, Song Yan told her that it was her decision to dump him unceremoniously; dumping him like a dog. Not telling him the reason why.
Xu Qin was unrepentant. She confirmed that if she can go back in time, she would do the same thing again, She tried to sound pragmatic by saying that they were both too young and would not be able to fend for themselves so she really had no choice by to abide by what her mother told her to do.
Song Yan said categorically that if they do make up and the same situation happens again, she would choose to dump him.
Xu Qin could not refute it.
He said that he is not old but he is not that young either to bounce back from a broken heart easily anymore so he can’t take the chance.
When Li Meng returned, she said that Xu Qin quizzed her about Song Yan.
Song Yan said that there was nothing between them. This gave Li Meng hope. She said that she has a chance with Song Yan but he told her there can never be between them.
Song Yan became so stressed when he found out that his best mate, Suo Jin, was transferring. He called Suo Jin a deserter, a traitor to their original pact.
Song Yan started acting a diva in front of Suo Jin.
Episode 6
Xu Meng was an orphan and was adopted by her aunt and uncle. Yucheng became her big brother, her protector.
She told him that she tried to make up with Song Yan but he turned her down. She said in a way she was relieved because she can’t go against their mother.
Xu Qin was having a nap at home when there was a knock and an urgent shout.
When she opened the door, Song Yan and a bunch of firefighters were there. They went to access her balcony to rescue a child who got stuck for being a naughty boy.
Episode 7
Xu Qin and Song Yan went on a date. He was buying her a meal for her help when they had to invade her apartment.
In the pouring rain, no one can stop Xu Qin from try to awaken any long-buried feelings Song Yan had for her. So she took him to a little eatery where they used to go.
Song Yan though was not receptive at first so Xu Qin employed every available trick in the book to make herself seductive to him.
It worked too as he told her to stop being cute at her age.
Zhai Miao was in trouble and called Sang Yan to come and get her at the police station. Xu Qin drove Song Yan to the police station.
Zhai Miao had been selling counterfeit cosmetics and got arrested for it. Her bail money was 100,000 which Song Yan did not have.
Secretly, Xu Qin called a friend to borrow money. Unfortunately, her friend was with Meng Yangchen at that time. The two men went to the police station.
Their presence shocked an already fraught Song Yan. He got more irate when Meng Yangchen started mouthing off about money.
Song Yan told them to eff off. Xu Qin followed Song Yan and told him to think of Zhai Miao in this instance.
So Song Yan was forced to swallow his pride and let the influential Meng Yangchen sort Zhai Miao’s case. But he promised them that he will pay the money within three days.
Later on, Xiao Yi Xiao told Xu Qin that it was better for her to keep away from Song Yan for her sanity and well-being.
Xu Qin did realise the truth of it because she could never stand up against her mother.
Episode 8
Song Yan apologised to the gorgeous Suo Jun for his overly emotional outburst a day ago.
Suo Jun said he understood. He then explained that he wanted a transfer because his parents are getting old, his father had just had surgery and needed looking after. He had been doing an LDR with his parents for more than five years. His fiancee had been waiting for him and unfair to just keep her hanging on.
Aww, but his talk with Song Yan changed his mind. Suo Jin called his fiancee to ask her to give him just another year and he will be all hers.
His fiancee told him to forget it. It looks like Suo Jin loves Yanbei Fire Department more than he loves her.
It ended badly for Suo Jin. He hurt his arm and burned a side of his face from an explosion during a fire.
Song Yan felt so bad for him, he ended up crying at the hospital bedside Suo Jun.
Suo Jun tried to be positive and told Song Yan that he has an agenda. He will tell his children that he was a supervisor and trained the best firefighters in the world.
He then retired with honours in front of sad and tearful comrades.
Episode 9
This is the end of the gorgeous Zhang Bin Bin in this drama.
Suo Jun was leaving. Hope his fiancee still loves him despite his disfigured face.
Yes, she does. She came to get him and assured him that she loves him completely and looking forward to a life with him. Ahhh
Meanwhile, Xu Qin was given a set of photos of men to go on blind dates with by her mother. The first photo was that of Jiang Yu who happened to be the new supervisor at Yanbei Fire and Rescue. How circumstantial is that?
Anyway, Xu Qin went to meet Jiang Yu. She was not hating it, in fact, they seemed to have the same interests. They were discussing Swan Lake when she received a text that monies have been transferred into her account by Song Yan.
Xu Qin, for once, tried to be brave and told her mother that she liked someone but it was not Jiang Yu. She asked her mother if she received a letter from a guy while Xu Qin was abroad studying. Her mother warned her not to make her cruel. This made Xu Qin retract like a frightened rabbit.
Her mother remembered burning letters ten years ago…
Episode 10
Xu Qin’s mother found out that Xu Qin was in touch with Song Yan again. She made Xu Qin choose.
It is the family or Song Yan?
Xu Qin met up with Song Yan to tell him that they were even. Meaning, her previous pronouncement that she wanted to make up does not count anymore.
Song Yan understood. He was obviously upset about being jerked around but before he could let have what he really thinks and feels, there was a fire in an adjacent restaurant to where they were. As a firefighter, Song Yan ran to investigate. He helped everyone out including a girl who developed a crush on him immediately.
The girl happened to be a close friend of Xu Qin. The girl begged for Song Yan’s number from Xu Qin.
Xu Qin gave the number to the girl expecting Song Yan to ignore the girl.
But then after a few calls from the girl, Song Yan agreed to meet.
Xu Qin was shocked. She went drinking for Dutch courage and wen to Song Yan’s house. He was not there as he was on a date.
But he did turn up and found the out-of-control Xu Qin who was devastated to learn that Song Yan had just met up with Zhan Xiaoru
Xu Qin said that Song Yan is not good enough for her.
Song Yan was upset at how lowly she thought of him but she qualified what she said. She said that she likes him more than he does her. She added that he was such a crappy boyfriend, he never did anything to strengthen their relationship. It was always her who does the chasing. She berated him for telling her that he loves her to death. She took this seriously. But now she was sick and tired and promised never to approach him again.
She left with Xiao Yi Xiao.
Song Yan finally realised what had happened and went chasing for Xu Qin but she was already inside the car of her brother Meng.

Episode 40
Xu Qin’s family, especially her mother, learned to tone down and finally accepted their daughter’s determination to be with the one she loves despite opposition from the family.
It is a happy ending.
