Episode 1
Whoa, my favourite actor Shin Ha Kyun is typecast to dramas with evil on the title!🤣. He was brilliant in Beyond Evil and charismatic in Less than Evil.
The first episode sets up the story which I think will be a rollercoaster of madness, badness and absolute evil.
The story so far is that Han Dong Soo goes to tout business from prison to prison. His broker was his half brother, Han Beom Jae, who works in a computer shop.
Anyway, Han Dong Soo practically had to restart his career as a lawyer once again after being suspended for three years. The reason for the suspension had not been made clear yet.
Add to the equation of their lives was that their mother is suffering from dementia who had been creating havoc after havoc causing them expenses which they can ill afford.
Anyway, Han Dong Soo takes anyone as a client. But he baulked at the idea of taking in a client who was an absolute psycho. He was Seo Do Young who was a baseball player who beat another player to a pulp during a baseball game.
Now that Seo Do Young was about to be let out, he wanted representation.
Han Beom Jae told Dong Soo to just meet Seo Do Young in prison and then see how it goes.
Seo Do Young wanted him to find and protect his girlfriend, that was all he wanted. Dong Soo was rather bemused but did not agree to it.
But then he got a package full of cash totalling to 10M won.
When Han Dong Sii got home, he noticed his wife had sprained her wrist. She said she had a minor accident. While she was out of the room, her phone rung. She shouted for him to answer her phone.
What he saw was a text from the HR of the supermarket she works at confirming that she was not going ahead with the sexual harassment she lodged against her manager.
Dong Soo went ballistic and his wife was forced to confess of how she went to her manager’s apartment to do a side job as a cleaner while the manager was away on a business trip. Instead, when she got to place, she found him half naked and went after her. She just managed to get away but fell on her hand and sprained her wrist.
He asked her why she had to take another job; it all came out that she had borrowed 10M won from her manager.
Dong Soo was shocked and asked what she needed the money for. She said that she had to pay the nursing home. His mother had set the kitchen on fire.
Seriously, as someone from the UK, I can’t really relate to this part. Surely it was Dong Soo’s family who had a case against the nursing home for not monitoring his mother enough that she was able to find matches in that place. Also isn’t the nursing home insured for such emergencies and situation like this?
Dong Soo was upset that his wife did not tell him about his mother’s latest shenanigan.
Dong Soo went to see the supermarket manager and told him that he will report him to HR for what he did to his wife.
The manager dismissed this and said that even if he does report him, it wouldn’t go anywhere as the management recruited and placed him in the job. He then brazenly asked the return of the loan to Dong Soo’s wife.
Dong Soo went to his car and took the money given to him by Seo Do Young and threw the cash at the manager. He then got one of the manager’s golf club and threatened the manager with it. He told the manager he has two choices: resign or be reassigned somewhere else but he has got to leave. He used the golf club to make a point.
The manager could tell that Dong Soo was serious because from a dorky guy, he suddenly changed into someone maniacal.
Dong Soo visited Seo Do Young again in prison.
