Episode 1
Rara was only a few days old when her mother died.
Her father adored her from she was a baby and thinking the cadence of her cry was musical.
As soon as she could tinkle the piano, her father had engaged a piano teacher for her thinking that she was a reincarnation of the great masters of the classical world.
Her piano teacher thought otherwise but because her father was willing to pay, who would turn down money?
Over the years, she wanted to quit several times but the look of pride on her father’s face was enough to make her go on.
She was 24 when she graduated from learning piano.
Finally, she was free and traveled the world with her doggie.
When she finally came home, her father asked her if she wanted to get married. There was a great concern on his face so she agreed.
During, the day of her wedding, a strange young man entered the waiting room. He was as smelly as anything but he was clutching her bouquet which the delivery guy asked him for a favour to deliver to the bride.
The guy was Seon Woo Joo, a construction worker who had just come off work so he was very smelly and sweaty
He was absolutely fascinated with her and couldn’t take his eye off her. In fact, he went so close, Rara smacked him hard in the face which made his nose bleed on her white wedding dress.
But quick as a flash, he managed to remedy the situation by putting the flowers here and there.
Though Rara’s father was running late, the wedding started as well as the rumour that her father was going bankrupt.
Her father collapsed on the steps of the church.
The mother of the groom ran off with her son.
Rara’s father later died in the hospital.
Her father’s right-hand man gave Rara some cash enough to start over somewhere.
She did try to start over but conned immediately with all the money.
Homeless and penniless with only her car and Mimi, she drove to the countryside only to get destructed by Mimi and almost ran over of all people, Woo Joon.
Episode 2
Though Woo Joo was the victim and yet he was at the beck of call of Rara, who started treating him as a cash cow. She absolutely do not have any clue about money.
Dr Cha, a newly divorced doctor started taking interest in Rara as well. Dr Cha is friends with Rara’ ex-fiance.
Being penniless, Rara completely rely on Joon for everything including paying for hospitalisation and now a place to stay.
Joon brought her to his place. He was washing his hair when the faucet stopped working, he asked Rara to pass him a couple bottles of water but she was already asleep.
He went to get them but one fell under her bed. She woke up with a half naked Jun bending over her. She cannot help but scream her head off, which was heard by Dr Cha who came to check up on her and the young daughter of the hairdresser who has a massive crush on Joon.

Episode 1
The first episode is really exciting. There are some gruesome scenes but hey, it is a horror genre.
The story began with the palace guards going into villages and removing pasted notices informing that the king had died.
The guards told everyone in the village that anyone caught putting up new or more notices of the king’s demise would be meeting a grim end.
Back to the palace, the guards rounded up their scholars and tortured them for making and writing the notices.
It looks like the king is rather unpopular with the masses.
Anyone the head eunuch accompanied a slave to bring the food to the king’s chamber. He advised him not to look into the chamber but gently pushed in the bowl of food.
The slave though got so nervously curious that he started to peer in but quickly grabbed by someone from inside the chamber. This scene was so good. It made us jumped (I was watching it with my husband)
The crown prince heard of the gossip about the king. So he went to see his father but he was stopped by the young pregnant queen, who rules with the king.
She told the Crown Prince that the king is unwell and needed the rest and must not be disturbed. To highlight what she said the guards stood in front of him, preventing him to step forward.
The crown prince turned back but was just too curious so he asked Moo Young to steal the palace journal.
In the journal, it records the timeline of the king’s ailment. He then sneaked into the king’s chamber and saw the figure of something not quite human, which stinks so much reflected by the light from the paper-thin walls of the chamber.
And then the light went off and the door opened and they were the guards, who interrogated him why he was loitering in the chamber.
The head guard was ready to strike him with his sword but the crown prince asked him if he was really prepared to kill a royal.
The guard put down his sword. The crown prince said that he saw a monster in the palace. They laughed at him and told him to seek medical attention for his delusions.
On the other side of the kingdom, people are starving and ailing.
A doctor, who just came back from seeing the king, arrived with a dead body which I think was the man grabbed from behind the screen door when he was pushing the food bowl. The doctor soon after had locked himself in his study, while the nurses looked after the poor starving people.roo
Nurse Seo-bi just returned from getting root crops from the forest. She was surprised to see that everyone in their hospital compound seemed to be enjoying a bowl of meaty soup each.
She asked the cook where the food came from and he said it was from a mountain deer, the cook then walked off into a warehouse, leaving Seo-bi in the kitchen.
A husband of a nursing mother wanted more soup for his wife which Seo-bi quickly granted. She was ladling the soup when she saw a finger.
She got so frightened and went in search of the cook who told her that meat is meat and the people needed sustenance.
They were still arguing about the merits of cannibalism during food shortage when they heard a commotion outside.
The people were collapsing and then getting back up again and starving for blood and flesh. The poor nurse was their first victim.
Meanwhile the crown prince had confessed to his bodyguard that he was trying to overthrow his father. He is aware that his being an heir apparent is for a limited period only. As soon as the queen has a baby boy, it would become the new crown prince. He, on the other hand, will be downgraded as he is illegitimate as his mother is only a concubine.
The crown prince has decided to find the doctor that looked after the king and he was being hotly pursued by the guards.
This is a classic love story of a boss and his secretary.
I have to admit I already love it based from the first episode and I can’t wait for more.
Kim Mi-So, or as she started thinking of herself as Secretary Kim, has been working for Lee Young-joon for nine years. She lives and breaths Lee Young-joon.
Lee Young Joon is tall and very handsome, very particular with his suits and looks good in it and he is also the vice president of Yoomyoung Group.
But Lee Young Joon is on another level of vanity. He is narcissistic. He is so in love with himself that there is no place for any love-interest in his life.
He doesn’t touch any woman and certainly does not allow them to touch him. He thinks that he is perfection in himself.
He was quite satisfied with his lot; with life and his work.
That is until a bombshell of a news has just blown up.
His most trusted and dependable secretary of nine years, the only one who can come within inches of himself, had handed in her notice to resign.
What is wrong with Secretary Kim?, this he asked himself and his best-friend, Park Yoo-Sik?
Park Yoo Sik, is a young president of his own company and is Young Joon’s confidant. Yoo Sik encourages Young Joon of his self-delusion of his perceived utter perfection. (To be fair, Young Joon is actually gorgeous 🙂 ) Between them they agreed that probably Secretary Kim is after a promotion.
Young Joon was not the only one who was concerned about Secretary Kim’s resignation. His parents as well were rather anxious. They both know that their son is very exacting and hard to work with.
They are also rather perturbed that Young Joon is not showing any interest in women.
There was a funny scene when Madame Choi (mother) quizzing Secretary Kim if her son is… is… is …is… is …. to which Secretary Kim rescued her and replied that Lee Young Joon is not gay.
I love the parents in this story. They are chill and encouraging these two to get together and give them grandbabies.
Anyway, Secretary Kim went to the bank to settle the last bit of her father’s debts. She signed the document as Secretary Kim rather than her name Kim Mi So. This incident only made her more determined to quit her job and get herself a life.
Despite Young Joon promising Secretary Kim a payrise, promotion as a director, she wouldn’t budge with her decision. She said she has had no outside life from the office for nine years. She is now 29 years old and she wanted to get married and have a baby. She doesn’t want to be alone in later life.
He promised her that he will never fire her from her position, ever! She was aghast with the suggestion.
So Young Joon is back with Yoo Sik, blue sky thinking, thinking outside the box, and everything else. 🙂 Finally they’ve decided that Secretary Kim is secretly inlove with Young Joon and can’t take the number of women who wanted to be with Young-joon.
As a last resort and in desperation, Young Joon blurted to Secretary Kim one night when he went to see her that he would marry her.
Awwww so cute I love everything so far in this drama. Chill parents, clueless bromance, feisty and pretty lead girl and handsome but deluded lead man. Perfect!
Secretary Kim thought that Young Joon was drunk. Of course she refused his proposal.
She told him that he was not her type.
Young Joon can’t comprehend her statement that he wasn’t her type. He is perfection!
He is now playing games with Secretary Kim. Making the other ‘new hire’ Secretary Kim to attend to him.
Kim Mi So was at first startled but she does really want to leave and look for her long ago ‘crush’!
Episode 3
This episode is super sweet. If you are romantic at heart, you will have a permanent smile the entire time while watching this episode.
As an extra bonus, there is a shirtless scene by Park Seo Joon showing how buff he is. Total eye candy.
The bromance with Lee Young Joon and Mr Park is so cute.
We get a little clue why Lee Young Joon was rather dysfunctional. Mi So may have met him when he was only nine years old and she was five. He might have been the boy who was kidnapped. Lee Young Joon is rather phobic of cable ties and when Kim Mi So tried to removed his sock to apply some ice on his sprained ankle, she say a scarring which looked like a result of being bind tightly previously.
Anyway a new character has just been introduced. He is a famous international author called Morpheus and he might be the brother of Lee Young Joon who does not get on with.
The romance between Kim Mi So and Lee Young Joon is heating up.
Episode 4
From now on I am going to be madly in love … with you.
Lee Young Joon to a surprised Kim Mi So
This episode is another sweet one.
Park Min Young is such a beautiful actress, with such a lovely warm smile. She easily lights up the screen whenever she smiles.
In this episode we get a glimpse of the animosity between Lee Young Joon and elder his brother Lee Seong Yun (Morpheus). Seong Yun has decided to forgive Young Joon, who was not having it. Instead they ended up fighting.
Young Joon ended up going to Kim Mi So’s house and there he decided to fall in love with her, deeply.
But it doesn’t look like that it would be smooth sailing as Seong Yun was attracted to Kim Mi So at first sight!
Episode 5
It is started really well all of three minutes and then back steps into their shells again. Lee Young Joon declaration of last episode that he will be madly in love with her, well he took it back. He said that he read and memorised it from a book.
So back to square one. It was so cute though but midway, they had a huge misunderstanding in what would be their first date.
Morpheus turned up and was giving Mi So his signed latest book when Young Joon interrupted and snatched the book back from Mi So and gave it back to Morpheus.
This dark feelings ruined their date and Mi So ended up going home early.
She then told Young Joon never to stir her up again.
She had a change of heart though when she found out that Morpheus was the brother Young Joon was having nightmares about. The person that he doesn’t get on with. She realised that he was not upset with her but the resentment was directed to Morpheus.
Young Joon then confessed to her that he wanted to stir her up again. They had a fleeting kiss which catapulted Mi So to the other side of the room. Strange!
Episode 6
Young Joon bent down to MiSo, who was sitting on a swivelling chair, for a kiss. But before he could deepen the kiss, he suddenly remembered something disconcerting from his past, it was so disturbing that he inadvertently pushed MiSo, who went careering across the room on a swivelling chair.
So this romantic scene ended in hurt and embarrassment on both side and further misunderstanding.
But they were really beginning to be into each other so before too long they were again spending time with each other.
MiSo has also been digging into a kidnapping case that occurred when she was five years old. She remembered being locked in a room with a boy slightly older than her and he really looked after her.
What happened was still a mystery to be revealed. She thought the boy may have been Young Joon but he confirmed that it was his brother that got kidnapped.
She is now utterly confused as she had been looking for that kind boy, her first love.
There is mystery in this drama, not just a straightforward romance.
Episode 7-8
I have to say that the side characters in this drama are well-rounded with their own cute stories.
I particularly like the growing crush Miss Bong has on Mr Yang. She used to growl at him all the time but during an away day/team building weekend, where Miss Bong wore silicon breast padding that ended up flying out of her chest and into the ground, Mr Yang very chivalrously threw his jacket over it to avoid further embarrassment for Miss Bong. Suddenly she saw him under a new light.
Young Joon and Kim Mi So had a long heart-to-heart talk during the team building break.
Young Joon cut to the chase saying that they both had been flirting with one another and would like to make it official that they are dating.
The only problem was that every time they try to kiss, he gets a horrific memory of the past.
Episode 9
They finally had their first kiss. Young Joon can’t kiss MiSo but she took the initiative and the rest is history.
Young Joon clarified their situation, that they are officially dating. So cute.
Their initial interaction was awkward at first especially at work. When Young Joon started being more proactive with the admin duties such as photocopying his own documents and making his own tea, MiSo was not best pleased.
They had a heart to heart where Young Joon said that he knew that he was a bad boss but he doesn’t want to be a bad boyfriend, to which MiSo said that in the office, she wanted to be his secretary rather than his girlfriend.
I love this drama. The characters have well rounded role. I particularly like the new PA who just moved house near to where the company accountant was living.
The accountant was unbelievably frugal that it was so hilarious especially when he said to the PA that if she orders a take out. she should give half of it to him to avoid food wastage.
The PA was so touched when he gave her a handful of his cherry tomatoes he was growing lovingly in his roof garden.
As a token of her thanks she packed half of her take-out and handed it to him.
He said that perhaps when she next order, she should order crispy chicken, etc. She was so annoyed how ungrateful he was being. 🙂
Anyway the end of this episode hint that Young Joon might be the boy MiSo knew when she was young afterall.
Episode 10
This episode is hilarious and heartwarming.
There were a couple of surprise guests. Lee Min Ki and Jung So Min had a cameo appearance as parents to Kim Mi So. That was a refreshing treat. Lee Min Ki and Jung So Min almost reprised their role in Because This is My First Life, complete with the their drama OST.
Mi So fainted at a conference but she intoned first that she finally remembers what happened all those years ago.
Episode 11
What happened during the kidnapping was much too much for a child of 8 years old to bear and yet despite his young age he still chose to protect a 5-year old girl. These children were Young Joon and Kim Mi So.
The kidnapper was a woman who wore red lipstick and red high heels. The woman suffered from mental breakdown as her partner had her abort their child and left her.
She knew that she was in a lot of trouble kidnapping kids, especially someone from a rich family. She hanged herself in front of the watching Young Joon.
This Kdrama is based on an American drama, Suits. It is about an excellent ‘closer’ who hired an associate, even though he is only a college drop out. What he the young man has is his photographic memory.

I was so glad when I first heard that there will be a Kdrama version of Suits.
I really enjoyed watching the American ‘Suit’. It made a princess out of Meghan Markle playing Rachel Zane. 🙂
My favourite character in the American version is Louis Litt. He is so vile and slimy, he was actually adorable. LOL I hope the Korean version can simulate him.
I have to say Jang Dong-gun and Park Hyung-sik are perfect choices to play the roles made famous by Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams.
The first episode has almost fallowed the exact version of the American drama.
Go Yeon-woo has a perfect memory that he often take the bar exams for people who would pay him. He needed the money as he is looking after a hospitalised grandmother.
As the bills are piling up, he had no choice but to carry out shady deals once in a while. One of these, was delivering a briefcase full of dope.
Running away from the authorities chasing him, he stumbled upon a open day interview for associates at Kang&Ham Law office.
The person who could name the statuette at Choi Byun’s desk gets to progress for an interview with Kyung-seo.
Despite a number of applicants from prestigious schools, no one so far could name the statuette, that is until Yeon Woo came by.
It was fortunate for him as the narcotics officers were about to pounce on him.
He confessed immediately to Kyung-seo that he was not a lawyer and he is carrying dope.
He showed quick wit and good memory when he finally came face to face with the narcotics officers which impressed Kyung Seo.
He was hired on the spot.
Then..
He was fired on the first day.
Yeon Woo did not take it lying down being fired. He argued and counter-argued which reminded Kyung-seo that he in turn just did the same thing with Ha-yeon, when his promotion as a partner was retracted due to a major client’s dissatisfaction with the level of service he received and now suing the firm for damages.
In the end Ha-yeon approved his promotion but it did cost him. He had to ensure that the client drops his suit and he had to do a pro bono case (the clients are those who are unable to pay the high price of justice!)
Because of this good outcome, i.e. promotion, he was feeling benevolent and told Yeon Woo that he had passed the test. He is hired.
He will be under supervision for six months and during that time he must get his degree and pass the bar and money is no object!
As a piece de resistance, Yeon Woo will be in charge of a pro bono case.
So far win-win for Kyung-seo, who was not that enamoured doing pro bono cases. (Clever)
Watching this drama is not so exciting, I have to admit. I feel like I have seen it all before. Though the day to day stories vary a little bit and the two male leads are total eye candy, the framework is basically the same as the American’Suit’.
I must confessed that the American ‘Suit’ for me is not about Harvey and Mike but it was gorgeous Harvey with sneaky, slimy Louis Litt.
So far, the Louis Litt character in the Korean version does not show that attitude and personality of Rick Hoffman’s vile Louis.
I keep watching Chinese historical dramas and always hoping that it will have a happy ending. I keep investing time, emotion and health 🙂 to these dramas only to cry buckets in the end because it usually ends in a Shakespearian tragedy.
Anyway, as I never learn though, here once again with full hope of a happy ending, I am going to plough into episode 1 (watch this space!)
Episode 1
Tianji Tower is ruled by the despotic Liu Ziye. He is only 16 years old and so immature that he is prone to violence and impulsive behaviour. His people started plotting to dethrone him.
They schemed to get rid of the young’s emperor’s most beloved sister, Liu Chuyu by drowning her, and replacing her with an assassin, who was a doppelganger.
The ‘new’ sister then pretended that she had lost her memory. She is being taken care of by a posse on 24 Menke, led by Rong Zi.
(What is a menke? Well, apparently they were retainers, or like eunuch without the castration bit 🙂 but I think in modern times’ equivalent, they are like butlers or valets)
Episode 2
The princess is weeding out her menke. Transferring those who are plotting against her and promoting some slimy ones away from her manor. Rong Zi is surprised how more humanitarian and clever she is becoming.
He is beginning to suspect that she is a fake princess.
Episode 3
The princess went to the mountain of luvvies (artists). She was in disguise as a man (oh yeah?). She was told that a beautiful man should be pure and have a skin as white as snow, only then can he be called a dreamy fellow! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Metrosexuality obviously existed even in ancient times.
Episode 4
The princess had taken away all the power of management for her manor from Rong Zi. The only thing left for him to manage are the herbs, spices and royal medicine.
Apparently, the boy emperor suffers from bipolar disorder. Only the smell of a concoction of certain herbs had a calming and soothing effect to the emperor. The princess found out that Rong Zi had created the scent for her and that is why she can control the emperor.
Episode 5
The princess just found out that she was a twin to the drowned Lui Chu Yu. Apparently, the previous emperor (their father) forced the queen to get rid of one of the twin sisters because of the astrologer’s pronouncement that one will bring havoc and chaos to the kingdom.
Episode 6
The Queen Dowager had died but she whispered something to the princess before she passed.
The princess heard from the boy emperor the reason why he turned out how he is. He was treated like an animal by one of the old emperor’s consorts/concubines. He was tortured for a month while the king was.
As soon as he had grown a little bit, he strangled the concubine/noble lady and then killed his own father.
The princess did feel sympathy for her brother. She realised how dysfunctional they are. Brother killing brother, sister killing sister, uncle killing brother, etc to get to the power.
Episode 7
The most beautiful woman of the land offered herself to the princess when she was disguised as a man. The princess turned down the offer obviously 🙂 but she lost her upper hand over the land-owning luvvies as they thought that HE (the princess pretending to be a man) was a sorry example of total manhood. 🙂
Episode 8
The Royal astrologer had gone awol and the princess with Rong Zi was looking for him. They needed him to convince the superstitious boy emperor to tone down his violence.
Episode 9
All of the princess plans are coming to naught. She has started thinking that there was someone out there who was purposely thwarting her every move.
Of course, it was Rong Zi. He is a spy. However, he can’t help falling for the princess.
Episode 10
The princess’ surrogate sister/childhood friend and ladies maid, Fendai, entered the palace as a concubine to the boy emperor. She plotted to kill him as the princess was unable to carry out their mission to assassinate him.
Unfortunately for Fendai, her plan went awry and got herself killed instead. The princess was desolate as she had to carry out the final whipping that eventually killed Fendai, who has been like a sister to her.
Episode 11
The boy emperor found out that the princess uses the scented herbs to calm him down and he felt betrayed by the princess. He told her that she will be under guard from now on.
Episode 12
Rong Zi is very ill so the princess helped him escape the manor to get treatment.
She has the opportunity to kill the boy emperor. Will she take it? No, she’s grown rather filial to her brother.
Episode 13
The boy emperor is dead and replaced by the pig prince uncle, who was just as nasty.
The princess confessed to Rong Zhi but was turned down. She bravely said that since he doesn’t like her then she would stop liking him as well.
She then said that they will part ways and hope never to meet again.
This was actually a lovely scene.
Episode 14
Rong Zhi had a change of heart. He wanted the princess after all. This time he was rebuffed. The princess intimated that they are like ships in the night; their moment had passed.
Episode 15
Rong Zhi was about to kill the pig prince/emperor when the royal astrologer intervened. Rong Zhi was further halted by the appearance of the princess taken as a prisoner by Hua Cuo, who was once Rong Zhi friend but now turned foe.
Episode 16
YouLan, the one remaining ladies maid of the princess, betrayed her.
Rong Zhi had plunged to his ‘death’ in a cliff. But is he really dead? 🙂
It turned out everyone is in love with the princess. She is Helen of Troy. She is the face that caused a thousand deaths. 🙂
Rong Zhi is not dead but an insect got to his brain and ate his memory. LOL
The princess thinking that Rong Zhi was dead was absolutely devastated. She is now being taken cared of by the Imperial astrologer, who had developed feelings towards her.
Episode 17
Rong Zhi is now back in the Northern Wei and had asked a minister’s daughter to marry him. But there is another woman on the scene. A fighting machine called General Hao. She was also fond of Rong Zhi, She said that Rong Zhi can marry as many women as he likes but he had to promised that he would only stand side by side in the battlefield with her.
Episode 18
Wow! Rong Zhi married both Ma Xueyun and the princess (who has lost her memory) Amnesia is catching!!!
Rong Zhi is now the regent and therefore it was left to him to forge an alliance between the Songs of Tianji Towers and the Weis. So he had to marry the Song Princess. But he had already promised to marry the minister’s daughter, Xueyun.
Rong Zhi spent the first night (wedding night) with Xueyun.
The princess is altogether different from before. She is more playful and doesn’t give a damn.
The Weis think she is a bit uncouth and therefore they have been teaching her etiquette and manners like in the proper way of drinking tea.
Your hands must not be higher than your nose.
Despite having no memory of each other, Rong Zhi and the Princess have subtle flirting.
Episode 19
Northern Wei does not have money to compensate the citizens suffering from flooding and to pay the soldiers. It was left to Rong Zhi to think of a plan to pay the soldiers without increasing taxes.
Xueyun and the princess do not get on. Xueyun plays at being a pure and innocent little beauty but she is bullying the princess in small ways. Of course, the princess is having none of it. 🙂
Episode 20
The princess has been framed as the one who caused the poisoning of the young 8th prince. This episode touched on migration and how immigrants are treated. 🙂
Episode 21
The stolen military provisions have been found hidden at the temple. The Pavillon master was behind the theft.
Xueyun is pregnant but she is really too weak to carry a child.
The episode ended cutely. Rong Zhi wanted to sleep with the princess. He meant it literally. He slept soundly. 🙂
Episode 22
Due to Rong Zhi sleeping at the Regent’s consort (the Princess), Xueyun framed the princess for trying to poison her. Because of the poisoning, she can’t carry the baby full term. It was Rong Zhi who spoon-fed Xueyun the abortion soup and in essence, he ‘killed’ his first child.
Episode 23
The highlight of this episode is the sword dance by Rong Zhi. Gorgeous!!! 🙂
Episode 24
Rong Zhi is very sick, someone tried to poison him. The assailant runs into the manor of Prince Kang.
Episode 25
Rong Zhi is still very ill and Xueyun had to beg the princess to allow her to look after him. Rong Zhi, however, is slowly extricating himself away from her.
The love story between Shen Yu, the prince regent’s bodyguard, and Larou, the princess ladies’maid, is slowly unfolding.
The princess has become a patron of an orphanage and she had been pawning her jades to fund her mission.
Episode 26
Rong Zhi is recuperating slowly but strong enough to play budaqiu, a sort of polo without the horse, with a team including the princess. It was quite an exciting game. Rong Zhi did a Beckham kick and won the game for the team.
Episode 27
Xueyun arranged for someone to bring a philter scent dish to prevent insect flying around the princess. But the scent is poisonous. It was lucky Rong Zhi was there to save the day.
Rong Zhi finally realised how far Xueyun can go with her jealousy.
Also, Huo Cao almost got assassinated. She was stabbed with poisoned blade luckily Guan ho was a doctor and saved her. He was the masked Pavillon Master and new love interest for Huo Cao.
Rong Zhi is ill again.
Episode 28
Xueyun came in with a bowl of medicine soup. Rong Zhi found its taste rather weird. Xueyun then said that it has meat. Meat from her arms. yukkkk
While the princess was giving an impassioned speech during a festival to Buddha, the lamps and lanterns burst into flames.
With other issues such as the Songs attacking people from Wei, it was deemed that the princess is working as a spy and was sentenced to 10 days imprisonment, then beheaded and her blood to be offered to the heavens to appease the Buddha.
Episode 29
The princess has also been blamed for the murder of the high priest.
She is about to be beheaded.
Episode 30
Awww The princess and General Huo had a drunken sisterhood bonding. It was so cute. While still inebriated, the princess confessed to Rong Zhi, who gave her a tight hug.
So sweet.
Towards the end of the episode, the princess was abducted by the nephew of the Pavillon master.
Episode 31
Xueyun spread the news that the princess was raped by the abductor. Rong Zhi was so annoyed, he told her he doesn’t want anything to do with her anymore.
In revenge for the treatment of his daughter, Minister Ma humiliated Rong Zhi during an audience with the emperor.
Episode 32
Rong Zhi and the princess are more understanding towards each other.
Episode 33
Rong Zhi and the princess are back being cold to each other after the Daughter festival.
Episode 34
The princess was suspected, again, as a spy. Prince Kang found evidence that she was sending information via the floating light during the daughter festival.
Episode 35
The princess was bored so she dragged Qing Yue to the temple festival. She then instructed Shen Yu to advise Rong Zhi that she has gone missing. This move actually was a good one as Rong Zhi saved her from a falling structure.
Episode 36
Xueyun consulted a doctor outside the palace because she has now started to spit blood. She doesn’t want the palace to know how gravely ill she was.
She asked Rong Zhi to hug her but he refused. She was upset and humiliated.
She plotted to kill the princess before she dies. She took the princess to the tower after giving her, through the leaf cards they were playing a bone-softening powder.
But at the last minute, Xueyun plunged into her own death but making sure that the princess gets the blame for her death.
Episode 37
The princess was arrested and tried. She was forced to sign a confession after her friend and maid, Qing Yue was tortured by the officials. She will be executed on the day of the funeral of Xueyun.
Episode 38
The princess is going to be executed and the person tasked to do it was Rong Zhi.
He cut off her chains rather than her throat. Awww
The Imperial astrologer was also present, ready to stop time, so you know that the princess will not die. (actually, you know she won’t die as there are still the rest of the 56 episodes to go 😉 lol)
A rudimentary forensic procedure was done by the doctor which proved that Xueyun killed herself.
Episode 45
General Hua won in the competition against the princess to become the one true Princess Regent.
Episode 46
Rong Zhi told the princess that he will always protect her. He then turned down General Huo as his princess regent. He said that they are so much alike that they would be like two porcupines rubbing against each other.
That is not the end of his women’s trouble. Upon entering his man cave, another concubine, naked, was waiting for him in his bed. Apparently, she was a gift from the king!
Episode 47
General Huo resigned from her post but the king won’t accept it. His ministers concocted some embezzlement to force her to stay. And more heartbreaking was that her right-hand man, Wang Ze, completely betrayed her saying that she misappropriated a fund of 300,000.
Wang Ze did redeem himself in the end by dying to save her.
This is the best episode yet. It is reminiscent of Kill Bill. The fighting scene was amazing. The lone female general against all the soldiers.
Episode 48
Rong Zhi saved General Huo from a massacre but in the end, they parted ways as frenemies, which saddened them both but can’t be helped.
The new concubine continues to seduce Rong Zhi but he was just not interested. But she was persistent that Rong Zhi literally throttled her 🙂
Rong Zhi went to the princess for a bit of comfort but she snubbed him dead. She was still upset when she heard that he was busy in bed with the new concubine. She did not wait long enough to find that he was indeed busy in bed bundling the concubine to throw her out of his manor. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Episode 49
Guiran, the king’s concubine is not the innocent, warmhearted woman she purported to be. She has a hidden agenda. She is mentally influencing the king with his decisions, which are going against their laws and traditions.
The princess has decided to leave the palace by whatever means.
Episode 50
Rong Zhi had gone against the king which led to him being confined to the manor. He is miserable not because of his confinement but of the princess’s lack of attention and coldness towards him.
The princess asked for the new concubine’s help of getting a drug that would induce deep sleep.
She used this on Rong Zhi as she scaped the palace.
General Huo married Gu Huan. They live a simple life but she often misses what goes on with the people she knew especially her clan.
Gu huan encouraged her to visit but it all ended up in a chaos of fighting which resulted in her losing her baby.
The episode ended with Rong Zhi having found the princess. He told her that the Songs married her off to the Weis to unify the clans was all a ruse. And she saw her clan ready to battle the Weis.
Episode 51
This episode is quite an exciting one.
It saw the death of many main characters led by General Huo with Gu huan. They had a violent but tender 🙂 ‘Romeo & Juliet’ kind of demise. They died together promising to be together as a married couple through eternity.
The king of Wei is more paranoid than ever. He wanted Rong Zhi dead. Instead of feeling indebted to Rong Zhi for saving and protecting Northern Wei, the king is afraid that Rong Zhi is becoming more popular and powerful. The king’s army follows Rong Zhi’s lead.
The Princess returned to Song and was used as a bait to get Rong Zhi to come to Tianji Tower. Their assassination against Rong Zhi failed. He rode off with the princess but he got hit by an arrow.
The fighting scenes are well executed. Exciting to watch. I have really enjoyed this drama.
Episode 52
Abrupt ending but a happy one.
Rong Zi is living happily with the Princess away from Wei palace.
The Wei king had died and his young son with Guiran is now the young king under the care of the Queen Dowager.
